A beautiful inn nestled in amongst the Devonshire hills, which has a very warm welcome for our dogs.
The food was fantastic and the locals made us feel very welcome. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
I know it can't be helped, but the single track lanes on all sides approaching the village made me 'clench' a,few times!!

Peaceful stay as an old favourite
Breakfast option was helpful, but only continental. Would have loved a cooked breakfast.

We stayed here as overflow for a family Christmas. They were flexible and we had our own access. We didn’t use the break
It was clean, very comfortable and lovely staff

Home from home .
I liked the warm welcome when I first arrived , all was carried out smoothly and allowed me to settle in quickly . The staff were amazing and nothing was an issue when asked for , the room was very clean and had all the neccessary items one would need . I had a lovley meal in the comfort of the bar area which was very nice , I would recommend this establishment and will most definitly be usuing it again .
I could not find anything to complain about .

Overall very good, but disappointing lack of Vegetarian options.
We had a one night stay at this cosy, welcoming pub and our room was perfect for two. We stayed in the "Fox" room which was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, with a very comfortable bed, a generous tea/coffee tray, hairdryer and a lovely en-suite with a brilliant shower. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay and the bar area was cheerful, nicely decorated and inviting, leading through to a surprisingly large restaurant area which we used in the evening. Parking and access to the bar and restaurant was very good, but worth noting that to get to the rooms you need to exit the pub itself and walk back through the carpark and then climb a set of metal stairs up to the accommodation itself. The food, in general, was good - in the evening I had the Gamekeeper's Pie which was really delicious, lots of filling and perfect mash - but unfortunately my wife, who is vegetarian, did not have such a good experience as there was only one vegetarian main and starter on the menu and the main course was unavailable that day! My wife was offered the starter plus sides as an option which wasn't ideal but then she was offered Quiche and new potatoes and vegetables from the lunch menu which seemed a better choice. Unfortunately, there were no potatoes left and when the dish arrived, the slice of Quiche was tiny and dry with hardly any filling and the pastry was raw in places and so she ate chips, salad and coleslaw for her evening meal... with a tough pile of Kale on the side! To be fair, the Staff were very helpful in trying to provide alternatives but they were let down by the Kitchen that evening. Breakfast was much better - Continental only, but presented really nicely with a good range of cereals/fruit/yoghurt/pastries and an extremely efficient toaster. Excellent coffee as well!
See above comments re Vegetarian food. If there is only one option for vegetarians, please make sure it's available!
