Fantastic period building with a very grand interior
Two single beds with aged mattresses pushed together with a topper mattress that failed to cover the uncomfortable springs beneath

Location was perfect and the room was a good size and clean
I liked the property. The decor was a bit dated….but the location and cleanliness and friendliness more than made up for it.

Great location opposite the station
Didn’t like the £5 per room charge for holding our luggage before we could check in! None of us had encountered this before!!

The staff were amazing as usual. The lady at the front desk gave us a room upgrade as she recognises us from previous visits(once a month) she is always so friendly and happy.

My dad received a ParkingEye 100 GBP after we sat talking in the car with motor running outside the hotel. My mum was just admitted to hospital nearby in extreme pain from what emerged the next day to be inoperable cancer.
We were not parked. The engine was not stopped and my father was at the wheel the whole time, able to move at once if any other vehicles approached. As it was twilight he did not notice the signs and had no idea I was in any kind of parking scheme.

The location was good that is why I chose this hotel
Reception was pretty austere. lack lustre.
Stair carpet up to first floor was worn.
Bed was uncomfortable. One large mattress on top of two divan bases. The whole thing wobbles when moving or getting on and off the bed. Disturbing the other person.

Pleasant Staff.
Good Location
Interesting external Building
I think this is the first time I have ever given a bad hotel review!
Shabby. Holes in the curtains.
No tissues left in room
Nowhere to hang towels in poky old bathroom and no shelf space for washbage etc
Awful Room decor- drab with ball of wool on wall
Generally depressing. Definitely not 4 star ranking in my view and not really value for money.
Only one lift used by staff and guests
Very thin room walls so next room conversation which was loud kept me awake. Some ghastly man leading off loudly about what his wife/partner friend or whoever should be doing about this and that late at night- To the extent that I felt lijke banging on the wall or ringing reception- only saved by earplugs. I don't think really all his fault ,just paper thin walls.

Quite a grand looking central hotel with a car park. On arriving around 3pm on a Wednesday in the May half term we found plenty of spaces and paid the £12.50. Check in was welcoming and smooth, the room a decent size with good shower and WiFi was fine. We didn’t try breakfast but there tea and instant coffee in the room. Good location for the centre.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable, the sort where you can feel springs in the back and there was some noise from outside during the night with the window open as it was quite warm.

The hotel is unable to provide an invoice for expense reimbursement )-: . The location is great and I enjoyed the charme of the building.
Despite multiple requests, I never received a proper invoice for my stay, even though the hotel staff promised it would be emailed after checkout. I followed up via phone, email, and through Booking.com’s “invoice request” function – but all efforts were ignored. Written contact via chat and email only resulted in generic, clearly automated responses that did not address the issue.
This is a serious issue for business travellers who need a tax-compliant invoice for expense reimbursement. It’s been days, and I still have no documentation to show my employer.

Beautiful clean room, right opposite Exeter Central Station! The beds were comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Great location with onsite parking.
Bedroom looked tired. Carpet’s threadbare. Shower leaking onto bathroom floor and bedroom carpet.

Good location for shopping.
Hotel is very tired I'm sick of hotels using fake photos of rooms when they have threadbare carpets and peeling paint.

Interesting property , very friendly helpful staff
felt a bit dated , noise from fans during kitchen operating from 5 am ( 3 floors up)

This hotel needs major refurbishment, the room I was allocated was tired, holes in the curtains the bed was uncomfortable ( I could feel the springs ) we had breakfast in the deli across the road as we were told that the hotel breakfasts were not good. I feel that cost of the stay did not live up to expectations. The friends I came with didn't complain to me about the hotel probably because I had suggested it. We gave stayed here before and it was adequate as it so close to the centre
As summed up above

I was offered a room on the top floor with a nice & quiet corridor for less foot traffic, which was perfect for me considering I was there for a weekend out for the Pride festival 💖 So I had extra privacy so I didn't bother anyone during the late night xxx (I didn't even ask but the gorgeous American lady at the desk knew my needs even better than I did lol 😄)
The hotel is right across from the train station and the high street with all the clubs! So no taxi needed and I can easily come and go.
The staff were very warm & welcoming and I felt valued as a guest.
Check out time is perfectly reasonable, at 12pm so I could still get a decent sleep after a long night of partying 🥳
Price was nicely competitive, especially considering the extra benefits of the location.
I'll definitely be returning here! 😜
A bigger window that I could open all the way, facing the other side of the building would've been nice. But the quieter floor was a bigger benefit to me.

Especially in the breakfast room!
I needed a room change, and without any fuss, I was moved instantly.
I really appreciated it.
