No frills accommodation, but in a great location!

The location. This is the best thing about West View. Walk down the hill from the apartment, along the path at the side of the building, down a few steps and your right opposite to the Peter Rabbit Cafe, The Old Peel Inn and The Flying Pig pubs, but on the same side of the road as the Beatrix Potter World. Large car park (plenty spaces) which is not too far from the apartment.

Accommodation is very basic and could do with a refurbishment and decoration in brighter colours. The bathroom, whilst functional, is basic. There was no hand wash in either the bathroom or kitchen. No kitchen roll, coffee, tea or sugar in the kitchen. Only one toilet roll in the bathroom (for two people for three nights/four days). One of the pans had been used to cook eggs and had been put away without being washed. Some of the cups, bowls, glasses and plates had to be rewashed too. The walls and ceilings are thin so you can hear your neighbours talking, shouting and moving about. Take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. No wifi and mobile 3g/4g is limited within the apartment. TV set top box kept losing signal - had to keep turning it off and on again to re-establish the signal. 3pm check in and 10am check out. Would be nice to be able to get in earlier and leave later when you have so far to travel to and from home!

Flat in Bowness

Flat was clean tidy, near shops, walking distance. Had a problem got sorted very quickly. Good price for the stay.

Having problem with flat, it did get sorted. Plus the two Sofas are uncomfortable. The seats sink in leaving hard rim on your legs.

It was just OK , maybe a bit pricey

We loved the location The beds were comfy.

There was an awful dirty stench in the lounge and we suspect it was coming from the bin . Couldn’t have eaten any food in there, it made us feel sick, had to have balcony door open . The balcony furniture has seen better days, surely it can be updated . Didn’t know where the bin store was although we had a code for it .

It was really good holiday home but would be excellent to have the WiFi in it.

Location was really perfect. Useful amenities were nearby and the Windermere Lake was just stone through distance.

No wifi in the house, which was promised during the booking.

Great location, very poor facilities and customer support.

The location and on site parking

There was no hot water when we arrived and the heating was very low. We called Cottages.com and they did send someone round to reset the water boiler and turn the heating up, which cant be done by the guest. The water heater tripped again the same night & despite me messaging twice they didn't answer. I only had hot water for 12 hours out of 3 days!! Asked for partial refund of the £465 paid and was refused. Single bed matre4sses were very thin and uncomfortable and you couldn't swing a cat ion the kitchen. Will not be back with Cottages.com again, nor Booking.com who were no help at all in resolving my problem.
