The hotel managers and their staff were very helpful in getting us taxis and finding drivers for day trips out of Oaxaca City. All requests we made were addressed quickly and completely. The morning breakfast always featured a different Oaxaca specialty which was new to us and delicious. We would stay here again on future trips.

Casa Pereyra is a wonderful oasis of calm and elegance off a busy street close to the Zocalo. All of the staff were welcoming and most helpful in their recommendations for places to eat and things to do and in solving logistical problems. The breakfast was superb and was different each of the five days I was there. I very much look forward to returning to the casa Pereyra on my next visit to Oaxaca.

Hotel Casa Pereyra was a perfect base for our first visit to Oaxaca. Our suite was very comfortable and more spacious than we expected, and we enjoyed the peaceful courtyard seating areas. Breakfast featured a different local specialty each day, and a chance to meet other guests. Most of all, we appreciated the exceptionally welcoming team, ready to make sure we had the best time in Oaxaca. We’ll be back!

We booked our 5-day stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and its proximity to the Zócalo, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The hotel is a beautifully preserved old colonial home, and it is truly gorgeous.
From the moment you arrive, César, his wife Sara, and their entire staff make you feel incredibly welcome—you immediately feel right at home. The property itself is stunning, with charming courtyards that invite you to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Breakfast is offered daily from 8–10am and includes yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, juice, toast, coffee, and a rotating traditional Oaxacan specialty that changes every day—so delicious and such a thoughtful touch. In the afternoons, they even set out a bottle of local mezcal in the courtyard for guests to enjoy, which adds to the warm, communal vibe.
The rooms are immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The beds are cozy and inviting, making it easy to unwind after a full day of exploring. A small but brilliant detail: they even had a digital hand scale to weigh luggage—super handy after my shopping sprees!
Everything about Casa Pereyra feels intentional, welcoming, and authentic. When we come back to Oaxaca, we will definitely be staying here again. Highly, highly recommend!

The property was beautiful, clean, and well-decorated. The entire staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay as nice as possible (Juan Carlos especially). The breakfast was tasty and cooked with lots of love. Great location.
Small complaint - the rooms’ private outdoor areas offer little sound privacy. If someone is having a conversation on theirs, it can be heard loud and clear in yours. This wasn’t a huge issue since we spent most of our time outside the hotel exploring.

Location was on a very busy ,noisy road but once through the door was like an oasis of quiet ,cool and calm, all the noise and bustle from outside was firmly shut out. All the staff were extremely friendly , chatty and helpful and had some great suggestions on where to eat and visit. Great breakfast with interesting daily changing hot option, Daily changing homemade juice added and extra layer.
An easy 5 minute walk straight down the road to the main plaza from where all parts of the main town were easily reached.
We stayed in room 8 which was a bit smaller and tucked away than expected. There is an old historic section of the building with rooms and suites which you pass through to get to the part where our room was located in the new part of the building. We had a small balcony which was covered and shaded but with other balconies from other rooms very close to the side and below. Any conversation from those balconies or from rooms attached could be heard if your patio door was open to let some air in. Our room was in need of redecoration with a lot of scuffing on the walls and some chunks out of the plaster. The walls were completely bare and could have done with any kind of artwork. The other rooms may have offered better value for money but ours seemed expensive for what we got.

This hotel is an oasis! On a busier street but close to everything and it’s very quiet once you enter the grounds. The staff are all amazing and very friendly and helpful.

Service and location were great. When I arrived, there was some construction underway, and the staff kindly upgraded my room so I wouldn’t be disturbed by the noise.
I found two cockroaches, one in the room and another in my toiletries bag when going through additional bag screening at the airport.

Location was excellent. Bedroom was clean and very comfortable
More variety at breakfast would have been nice.

It's a super charming property with cute rooms, a nice courtyard and very helpful staff. The location is central without being in the heart of things, 10min walk to most of the major attractions. The breakfast was delicious and, above all, convenient.
The amenities are a bit sparse. The spiral stairs in our room are a no-go for anyone with even slight mobility concerns.

Hotel Pereyra is a gem, a lovely setting close to everything the Centro (Downtown) has to offer. The staff are welcoming and helpful, from suggestions of places to visit, to booking taxis, to making sure you have everything you need. The daily breakfast has fresh fruit, fresh-squeezed fruit juice, homemade granola & yoghurt, and toast available, with the option of a hot breakfast entree usually containing eggs, which was different each of the 6 mornings we were there. We booked our stay here based on the excellent reviews, and we were not disappointed. Our room was one of the standard rooms, which was a good size and tucked in the back of the hotel. If you want a little more room, the suites are each unique and are located along the beautiful courtyard. We highly recommend Hotel Pereyra!

The breakfast was excellent, offering a great variety of fresh and delicious options. The authentic dishes were especially good. The breakfast room was spotless and beautifully decorated, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was warm, attentive, and welcoming.
This is a wonderful place to stay — perfectly located near many of the city’s main attractions, yet with peaceful, beautiful, and enchanting gardens inside the house. The staff is professional, friendly, and always ready to help. I would gladly return to this hotel again and again.

The location was excellent- central and easy to get almost anywhere on feet. The inner courtyard and area was a lovely place to sit, quiet and provided privacy. Very authentic Mexican furnishings.
The breakfast was ok - but with little variety for the cold options.
The staff were extremely polite, kind and helpful, especially Pavel who really went out of his way to help us with sightseeing, ordering taxis, vegan restaurant recommendations, etc.
The shower head was very basic, small and lopsided. One of the stools in the dining area was badly stained.

I liked everything here. The room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The managers, Oscar and Sara, were excellent and went beyond expectations. They advised us on what to see and do and helped in every way. Extremely friendly people work here. The location was just three blocks from the central district square, where restaurants and shops were plentiful.

This is a very special place to stay. It is over 200 years old & has been renovated, keeping the character of an old Oaxaca home, with lovely small courtyard, common dining room for breakfast included, & our studio with kitchenette was perfect for my granddaughter & I visiting for one week during La Guelaguetza. The staff are wonderful, including the owners, Rosie, Sarah, & Cesar.
We liked everything, including the great location very close to El Zocalo in the centro.

Extremely attentive staff and excellent complimentary breakfast. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. The day trips and restaurants were all amazing. We highly recommend Casa Pereyra for the ultimate Oaxaca experience.
It was on a high car traffic area although you do not hear noise once you are in the hotel. This does not impact your stay.

As mentioned by other guest, it was an oasis past the front door, even though it was located off busy blvd, hardly hear the sound of traffics. Delightful daily breakfast, very pleasant staff. Front desk manned all night for security and service thanks to Pavel. We truly enjoyed our stay!

This delightful hotel is beautifully presented and very clean. Located on a busy main thoroughfare, everything in the city centre is within easy walking distance.
All the staff were super-helpful and charming, and helped us organise trips to Monte Alban and fascinating artisan workshops. Luisa’s delicious cooked breakfast changes daily, and she was exceptionally kind in providing herbal tea as a gastric remedy.

Super cute hotel in a great location. It was the staff though that made the experience so lovely. They were incredibly welcoming, sent over lots of restaurant recommendations and ideas for things to do. Couldn't have been kinder or friendlier and so they really made the stay stand out from all other hotels we visited on this trip

Casa Pereyra was a beautiful small hotel in the heart of Oaxaca. The rooms are super nice and clean! but what‘s extraordinary is the staff - they were supper supportive upon late arrival, finding a guided tour to the surroundings of Oaxaca incl. Mezcal distillery, Mitla, Tula Tree, etc.

the property is amazing. Great location, close to everything and only 4 short blocks to the main square. There is a small church park just across the street with delicious ice cream stands, dulce and the occasional taco stand. Nice music that can be heard from the hotel courtyard.
We stayed in the 2 story suite with private patio for 2 weeks. it was the ideal spot for such a long stay. It can be loud and bustling outside but as soon as the front door closes, you are surrounded with an incredibly serene atmosphere of plants, a fountain, soft Hispanic music. You will be amazed how quiet it can be just off the street.
DONT MISS BREAKFAST! Every morning the staff cooks a delicious breakfast and it is different every day. if you miss the enchiladas suizas or heuvos rancheros, they likely won’t have it again during your stay. Good coffee, tea, fruit, granola, yogurt and toast are offered every morning.
there is also a full bottle of mezcal left on the community table each day and you are encouraged to have a sip from time to time.
Now, let’s talk about the staff. This review would be a amiss if I did not mention the staff. They are what makes this place so enchanting. the hotel has a small staff of only 10 or so people. All of them genuinely care about their work, this place and all the beings within its walls. Not only are they the nicest, friendliest crew of folks, they will go out of their way to help you in any way. -Recommendations, reservations, hiring a driver, calling a cab, laundry services, a tour of the roof on New Year’s Eve to see fireworks, a cup of tea because they heard you cough. The people here are what makes this place special.
Things to know about Mexico: the beds are a little hard but that’s not uncommon for Mexico. The water is heated by the sun. Want a hot shower? Take it in the afternoon or evening when the water has been warmed all day.

Oaxaca is a magical place and Hotel Casa Pereyra is the perfect hotel to experience it. The owners and staff are some of the kindest and warmest hosts we've ever met. They genuinely want to help you experience the best of Oaxaca.
The breakfast is outstanding. Homemade food cooked with care.
We loved staying at Casa Pereyra and were sad to leave.
Everything was fantastic, however the only improvement we would suggest is the shower. The water pressure could just be a wider Oaxaca problem though, rather than Casa Pereyra.

Hotel Casa Pereyra has an ideal safe walking location to Templo de Santo Domingo, Zocalo, Barrio de Xochimilco, Barrio de Jalatlaco and La Noria Centro Historical. I wore wide skirts and cowboy boots, the heels are wide and comfortable to stand and walk on the cobblestone streets. Casa Pereyra's entrance is guarded by a strong locked door with a small window to easily see the front desk. Someone remains in the property 24 hours to assist the guests. A satisfying cold and hot breakfast is included with the hotel stay. The staff is pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I was charmed by Cesar, Sarah, Juanita, Rosio, Luisa, Roselena and Dael.

The place is in the middle of the action, within walking distance of the town's core and many restaurants, museums, etc. The service can't be better; they make you feel at home. The breakfast was included, and it was freshly cooked every day!

One our best stays on our trip so far. The staff were exceptional, extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The location was perfect, so close to everything we wanted to do in Oaxaca. The hotel itself was beautiful, with a very calming atmosphere. Delicious breakfasts, good Aircon and clean. Couldn't have asked for more.
