The location of the hotel is good

The bathroom was not very clean, we were ‘upgraded’ to a garden suite from a junior suite, I’m not convinced the room was any better at all, looking online it’s actually smaller and we had to walk outside in the rain to get to it. The breakfast was really disappointing.

Excellent location for Winchester centre, plenty of parking that can also be reserved, friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable bed and room, the whole hotel had a lovely ambience and decor, very child/toddler friendly including travel cot and dining menu, where staff made us feel particularly welcome and they were very patient with toddler eating habits, delicious food and an appropriate dress code of smart casual for the bistro - suited the ambience well.

It’s not the budget option but you do get what you pay for, the quality of your stay will be excellent. There’s no lift, which didn’t matter for us and it adds to the charm, but it might matter to some.

Didn’t have mulled wine over Christmas, which was disappointing but otherwise a lovely little bar.

The building itself was beauty and outside the added cubby for smokers like my partner to sit under was nice.

The fact you had to pay for parking. That should be included in the price. Even with the fact they only have 33 spaces to be hit with this ok top Of the room cost is a bit steep. The breakfasts were also lacking for the extra paid. The continental was good but as my partner doesn’t eat that and likes hot , when it arrived it was lacking in substance and unfortunately like warm. Mine and his poached eggs were not runny poached they were soft boiled which was also a let down.

Property was in a great location. Small problem with room which was dealt with quickly by upgrading to another room.

• The location and character of the hotel were appealing and showed a lot of potential. • Complimentary water in the room was appreciated. • On-site parking was convenient. • Staff were friendly and welcoming.

• Check-in took longer than expected, as our booking could not initially be found, which caused some unnecessary anxiety on arrival. • Tables in the bar were not clean. They appeared to have been wiped with a damp cloth and did not feel particularly pleasant to sit at. • We had to chase up part of our bar food order after a delay. • Our room was quite noisy due to its location at the top of the stairs near reception. We were regularly woken by people passing the room, sometimes using loud or inappropriate language. While this is not entirely within the hotel’s control, it did impact our sleep. • There was also noticeable traffic noise from outside; secondary glazing may have helped reduce this. • The bathroom door handle was loose, with missing screws, and did not close properly. • The radiator control knob did not work. • The tap fittings were loose and had to be turned excessively before functioning. • We were incorrectly charged for breakfast despite having paid in advance, which required correction. • Breakfast service was slow, with a long wait to be seated and for food to arrive. • At check-out, there was no enquiry about how we had found our stay.

Great hotel right in the middle of Winchester, super comfy rooms, great breakfast and friendly staff, cant ask for more.

Interconnecting doors meant we could neighbours telly ! Breakfast was good but not huge choice and very expensive.

We stayed in a garden room despite the hotel being on a busy main road it was remarkably quiet and tranquil .Also parking such a bonus !

I liked everything, the vibe of the hotel, the bathroom was bigger than expected, we have everything for our comfort, kettle , tea even cookies, the little garden, the restaurant meals were very delicious.

Excellent location. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful - particularly Elsa on reception. Breakfast was very good quality.

The grouting in the ensuite bath / shower needs cleaning.

The building was quite old, the floor was a little uneven. The room was a little too small for its price. The shower was not powerful enough. There is no lift and it is a bit hard to hug the heavy suitcases up.

The location was fairly central and walking distance from shops and restaurants. The overall property may have been nice once but seemed to have been cheaply maintained.

The room was shabby, with windows which would not open, and decorated with cheap furniture and garishly colored soft furnishings. The continental breakfast was expensive - £19. We were not informed that ongoing renovations meant the room we had booked online based on the photos on the website, was not the one we were given.

Great location and carpark

Generally we felt the hotel was pretentious and offered inflated prices for what is a very average service . Extras not included on menu, increased costs exponentially, intentionally unclear pricing. For example 2x afternoon teas booked at £15.00 each ended with a bill of £72.73. The room was below average, cramped, dark, a little shabby and grubby. Broken water glass scuffs and marks on the walls. The standard of food was ok but nothing special. The hotel is currently covered in scaffolding, work-men outside swearing, generally not a great look!

The staff at the hotel were exceptional - very kind and helpful. Elsa in particular. The hotel is very comfortable and central in Winchester. with parking available.

There was temporary scaffolding due to building work so I couldn't open my bedroom window but this is a temporary situation.
