Amazing location, gorgeous old characterful building, wonderful food and atmosphere and excellent staff
It’s a very old building and a lively pub so it can be noisy in the evenings

The room was lovely and the bed was really comfortable. We had a great breakfast and evening meal, their Wyk pie was delicious. The staff made the whole experience great, such nice people and so friendly and helpful. We walked everywhere once we arrived because it is so central. We had dogs with us and they were made welcome, even given some sausage at breakfast.
Wine was a bit pricey.

Great location. Exceptional room (Hamilton) and breakfast. Staff were fantastic and very helpful
Its a quirky old pub with lots of features and levels, so accessibility could be an issue for some.

Breakfast could be improved. Bacon tough, fried eggs hard and beans over cooked. Small tweaks coujd make it lovely. Scrambled eggs were delicious

Local charm. Pub and restaurant serve good food and have great casual service. Room was comfortable and quiet, excellent bathroom.. Rickety stairs might be an issue for anyone with mobility issues.
Price was a bit high for the location.

A beautiful house with an authentic pub. We absolutely loved this place. We highly recommend it. The location is fantastic. We went for beautiful walks throughout Winchester. In the evening we enjoyed wine by the bar. The atmosphere was perfect.

A wonderfully atmospheric pub hotel in a perfect location for exploring the centre of Winchester. Located in the quiet streets behind the cathedral you feel like you're stepping back in time and inside, the warm and cosy pub is everything I'd have wanted on a cold winter's weekend. Dinner and breakfast were first class as was the excellent HSB beer. Bedroom provided a comfortable and peaceful retreat. Everything tastefully decorated and well maintained.
There was nothing not to like.

Location was perfect, food was superb, staff very friendly and helpful, atmosphere in the bar and food area was good, car park a little small but got a space, not a criticism just a little hint, maybe a blind on the roof window in the bakehouse suite,
But will definitely be returning

Atmosphere and location
We were in a separate building up steep stairs , I would check this before I booked again, lovely room but a bit tricky for elderly

Welcoming staff, a beautiful and comfortable room, excellent coffee, tea, and biscuits. The bed was comfortable, the shower nice and powerful and the shampoos and cleansers good quality. Breakfast was excellent, great cooked choices plus croissants, juice, fruit, cereal, yogurt and excellent coffee.
It's an older building and the plumbing from an adjoining room was quite noisy.

Great place to stay close to the cathedral with parking. For American’s it is a very narrow street with tight parking but people were happy to help us get out. The room was spacious and quiet. Good breakfast.

Warm friendly welcome at the beautiful Wykeham Arms - a classic Old English Pub experience. The Rooms are Top Class and the original old Bar and Food, a Treat. Breakfast was particularly enjoyable in the Historic old Breakfast area surrounded by old paintings and memorabilia.

A great British pub. The rooms were very comfortable, with a great bathroom. Staff were helpful and attentive. Dining was excellent and the pub was friendly and lively. The location is also excellent, just outside the cathedral close with easy access to high street shops.
Nothing not to like.

Once again a great stay at the Wykeham Arms in Winchester! The beautiful Christmas market is just around the corner and well worth a visit (and the reason for our visit this time). The pub is brilliant and we had dinner there one evening plus a couple of drinks in the afternoon during our stay. The only "downside" is its popularity - it gets extremely busy at times so booking ahead for meals is essential.

Location, communication, service, staff, breakfast, on-site parking, quiet,
Room looking a bit jaded: very tatty curtains, cracks in plasterwork, dirty paintwork, I’ll-fitting toilet seat, only 1 bottle of beer for 2 people?, incredibly steep staircase with no handrail one side up to top floor, and altogether extremely expensive considering the above.

We have stayed at the Wykeham Arms quite a few times now and always have a really lovely time. The staff are friendly and the food and service are great. The rooms are comfortable and full of character, as is the pub.
This time we were a bit disappointed with the water temperature in the bathroom as it was only lukewarm on occasion. There was also a strange smell in both our bathrooms.
Also, there didn't seem to be as many Christmas decorations this year. Last year we even had them in our room! Although we came to celebrate my birthday, the Christmas Market is a huge draw, so the lack of festive decorations was noticeable. Perhaps though you were still in the process of putting them up? But it hasn't put us off coming again!

The steep staircase at the house opposite where we stayed especially as my knee was playing up. Otherwise a very nice room

We wanted authentic old world and we got it with charm and hospitality. The pub was adorned with history and the open fires created a cozy atmosphere in which to enjoy our tasty breakfasts and evening meals.
Our across the road room was top floor splendid with open bath, large comfortable bed, piping hot water shower and views to the college chapel. The daily biscuit treats and the tea and coffee with fresh milk in the fridge were much appreciated.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our luggage was taken directly to the room and the meal service was very efficient.
The prime location on a quiet street topped everything off – just a short walk to the cathedral and the high street beyond.

Staff were amazing from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. The room was stunning with a lovely view. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening. The food was outstanding! We had drinks in the pub, brilliant old fashioned pub atmosphere and so much to look at on the walls, the roaring fire was a bonus! Yummy breakfast and amazing service!
That we had to leave!!

The food was excellent from the breakfast to the two evening meals we had
The staff were friendly and helpful especial mention for Harvey waiter in the restaurant friendly, chatty etc
Rooms, when reached, were exemplary so clean and comfortable
Didn't like the stairs steep & winding++ - my fault, no ground floor rooms and didn't look for a lift when booking. But for x 2 'mature' ladies very difficult to navigate. Can easily manage 'normal stairs'
Was also a little perturb by the open door onto the street all day until certain time in the evening. However if one wanted to could have entered through St George pub/restaurant next door anytime. Although all bedroom doors had locks was a little perturb. Although have to say area around the W. Arms looked fine. Probably just more used to security ++ in London
