Delightful

The bed is so comfortable, the towels are so soft, the coffee is delicious, and so is the breakfast. I love the cosy vibe of the room and the vibe of the breakfast area - it's very classy.

There was a strange smell on the first flight of stairs.

My room was on the third (top) floor - a long way up with two bags and several fire doors to negotiate, but luckily didn't need to do it too many times.

Fabulous time in Winchester

The Westgate is a fabulous pub hotel. The location is a 5min walk from the train station. The town is just a 2min walk. All the sights are near by. The hotel is fabulous very comfortable and the pub also excellent good value food and drinks. Breakfast at the hotels was just perfect the a excellent choice bread cereals and pastries. I had a Vegetarian breakfast my Wife a Vegan breakfast and both where excellent fry ups. And the staff are also Excellent nothing was to much trouble and made to feel very welcome. Big thanks to the Morning Manager. And staff serving breakfast was brilliant thanks for a fabulous stay.

Great city centre rooms with an amazing breakfast!

The Westgate is well situated right in the center of Winchester near shops, restaurants and cafes. The rooms are great, spacious, nicely decorated with a big bed. The rooms are above a pub so you can check in any time until the pub closes, but note that it’s not a full hotel so don’t expect a reception/overnight concierge etc. Breakfast is exceptional, amazing Full English and Eggs Benedict with pastries, yoghurt etc. I thought it was really good value for money.

The bathroom was a bit tired and could do with redecorating and a deep clean, but nothing major.

Needs a refurb

Location right by the Westgate at the top of the high street, all sights are very close. Dog treat box in the room. Cooked breakfast.

Not very clean, dust on the spoons and the kettle in the room, found a sticker floating in the glass of orange juice my boyfriend poured himself for breakfast. Didn’t get the room I booked on Booking but got a couple of free drinks to make up for the inconvenience. If you are noise sensitive, the noise from the bar and the cars on the main road can be heard. The shower was luke warm. Worn mattress with a dip in the middle.

Great hotel in the heart of the city

The location was excellent. Although it is situated at the top of the high street, it was surprisingly quiet. Although the bar got busy during the afternoon and evening, it never disturbed you in your room. The staff were exceedingly helpful and happy, which made the whole atmosphere happy and welcoming

Our only minor wish was that there were tissues in our room. Other than that, it was perfect for us.

Very comfortable bed, lovely rooms - extremely tidy and homely. Fantastic location as the hotel is located right next to town.
