Superb hotel in a fantastic location with great staff.

New and really tastefully decorated… great restaurant and bar and wonderfully attentive staff. Location is superb right in the centre of Salzburg.

There is no gym - I asked but was told that when the building was put up in the 14th century gyms weren’t that popular. Fair point I suppose. Parking is close to the property … a five minute walk. If it’s raining not great. We parked the car and forgot about it for two days and wheeled our bags over to the hotel easily.

Charming 600 year old former hunting lodge transformed into an amazing hotel.

Location on the main street in old town made all the sights easily walkable. After 5:00 it seems like we had the city to ourselves.

Street is very busy with tourists during the day but they vanish after 5:00 and it quiets down.

Excellent hotel with a great location and service.

Great location in Salzburg making walking anywhere in the city easy. Rooms are very well appointed with luxury items like heated bathroom floors (or it seemed heated anyway), turn down service, chocolates, and welcome drink while we waited for our room. Our room also had extra seating making it feel more like home instead of sitting on a bed or cheap office chair. The bed was very comfortable and this is a critical review item for me as it's where one spends most of their time in a hotel room. Breakfast was plentiful with good choices and exceptional service.

The interior room was wonderful! The staff beyond excellent in all their help and restaurant suggestions. Breakfast was plentiful and had a great variety! Wonderful location too!

There was some construction going on outside, so the view wasn't great nor the 7 am workers, but overall the room was good.

It was amazing and we will be back!

I was spoiled by the staff at the Goldener Hirsch! I shared with the concierge when I made my reservation that my husband and I were celebrating our 35th anniversary and that I had stayed at this hotel 40 years ago and I wanted to share it with my husband. We received a lovely welcome note, fresh fruit and pasterie upon arrival and later in the day a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The attention to detail was unsurpassed! It was a lovely trip and we will be back again! Thank you Hotel Goldener Hirsch

Excellent Stay in Salzburg.

Centrally located hotel. We had a lovely stay. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. We were three adults that shared a Junior Suite, there was plenty of room for three of us. Great bedroom facilities including a proper coffee maker. Excellent breakfast every day and we ate dinner in the restaurant one evening which was delicisious.

The parking facilities were a bit complicated. In the mornings the car would get delivered to one side of the hotel, and in the afternoon the opposite side. All the lighting switches were a bit complicated, we never did work those out.

Amazing hotel for all digital nomads!

I am a digital nomad (working in IT for a large Financial Service Organisation) who lives in Sydney, Australia who recently passed through Salzburg and stayed at the Hotel Goldener Hirsch. An amazing hotel, where noting is a problem! Due to the time difference, I started my work at 3am - using the library with great wifi. A special thank you to the night porter (Thomas) who always set up the room and gave me coffee to get me started!

The Value Isn’t There

Perfect location in the heart of the Old Town, the hotel is a small landmark. White plaster, walls festooned with antlers, and crafted country furniture, it’s an idealized slice of Alpine life. The staff is one of the finest in the world.

I have stayed at the Goldener Hirsch twice before, and never had reason to question the value. This time I did. The room was smaller and opened on to a gravelled air shaft. By design, there is no sense of opulence, but you find yourself comparing it to places that are opulent - given the price - and it comes up short. Emblematic, 49€ for a good-but-not-great buffet breakfast. You’re left sadly expecting more.

Beautiful city and building but lacked warmth in communal areas of the hotel.

Lovely suite but not in main hotel, had to cross the street from main hotel to different building, it felt more like an apartment rental not a hotel, bar and restaurant disjointed in different areas not very clearly identified, when asked staff gave a brief tour which was helpful. The building is beautiful. Room staff and bar helpful and friendly, restaurant staff less so. Food okay but over priced.

More inclusive and joined up as a hotel would normally be, maybe make it clear the suites are in a different building without any other facilities, for example a lounge.
