Great hotel lovely staff
7.0 / 10.0
The proximity to the main streets was amazing. I appreciated the welcoming environment and the mini bar.
The elevator broke during the middle of the night and a lot of commotion happened outside of our room while they worked to fix it. The rooms were “nice” but not up to a Michelin Key status. You could tell that things hadn’t been wiped down. The bed also needed to be replaced. You could easily feel dips in the mattress.

Quirky but very nice - Ulrike was amazingly helpful
Parking access is poor

Great location, friendly helpful reception staff, comfortable bed and good room facilities. Reception staff was very helpful with the issues we had (see below), which weren't their fault!
The hotel is branded as a 'small luxury hotel' but we weren't told before we arrived that the restaurant was closed for renovations (understandable as Feb is likely low season but communication would have been nice) so we had to walk over the river to breakfast at their partner hotel (the full price was still charged). So we also couldn't have dinner at the hotel which we had really looked forward to- communication of this prior to our stay would have been helpful so we could decide if we wanted to continue our booking. They also had issues with their room lock not working when we arrived which required a maintenance visit to fix the following day- fortunately they had a spare room so we were able to pack up our stuff up again and move to that one. The hotel was disappointing overall unfortunately as it was meant to be a special treat to stay there. We have stayed in much cheaper places in Salzburg with far fewer issues with just as nice rooms.

The location was perfect to get to know and see Salzburg. Easy walk to all attractions and sights we were interested in seeing in the Alstadt. The restaurant was wonderful. The breakfasts were more than ample. The atmosphere was beautiful and meals were perfection.
Nothing comes to mind. I didn't give the highest rating for cleanliness, but we visited in winter and it would be hard to keep up with the salt and winter mess on the floors.

Ulrika is what makes this hotel a success. Her personality is great, so welcoming, offered a glass of bubbly on our arrival, showed us around the room and made sure we were happy. The hotel is in the old town in a gorgeous cobbled street just off the main square. Easy to get too by bus from the airport. The hotel is in a very old building which adds to the charm. The rooms are huge and comfortable, we had a junior suite on the top floor, thankfully there is a lift.
Breakfast was good, we would have preferred to choose our own rather than be given breakfast, the reason for this is we like to eat high protein, low carb, this breakfast was the opposite. On the last day we just asked for eggs and yoghurt which was easily accommodated. Suggest a menu is put together for guests to choose from :-)

From the moment I walked through the front door I felt welcomed into the most hugely hospitable environment.
The location is perfect and Ulrike was so utterly charming and helpful,
Nothing.

Everything about this boutique hotel is just perfect. Their breakfast was amazing and the food served in their restaurant outstanding. The reception person made us feel welcome right on arrival, she was friendly and very helpful, nothing was a problem for her.
There is nothing to dislike about this property.

Met and looked after by Ulreke our whole stay she was friendly fun helpful and always there when needed
Hotel ideally situated for visiting all the main Salzburg attractions
Not much from our perspective maybe a dining room restaurant facility (noting there is an independent Italian restaurant on site

Very central location, but on a quiet lane. A lovely old building with comfortable rooms and good bathrooms. Breakfast is not a buffet but was delightfully served with a choice of eggs and coffees/teas. Very hospitable welcome too from Ulrike!

Anasingly kind and helpful people. I will call them friends - not staff. Facility is in a beautiful 700 year old biuildimg. Beautifully restored yet retaining its character. My friend and I were there for Advent markets. Perfect location! We’ll be back.

Location is amazing, centrally situated in the Old Town. One can walk everywhere. Hotel is wonderfully unusual. Friendly, welcoming and very comfortable. Absolutely perfect if visiting the Christmas market.
We cannot recommend highly enough.

Wonderful welcome from our hosts ( ( including even a glass of sparking wine) and we really appreciated their extensive and smiling help and information throughout our stay.
Perfect location in heart of the old town on pedestrianised street - so very quiet and atmospheric. Less than 15 minutes walk to everywhere we wanted to go! Beautifully restored 700 year old building with many original features.
Very comfortable rooms ( and beds) with Nespresso coffee and still and sparking water; lovely bath robes and slippers and top quality shower gel etc
All in all a five star experience
The hotel restaurant was also high quality with excellent service and superb local dishes from a limited menu. Expensive but well worth it for at least one special meal.
Breakfast is a veritable feast - again well worth it but don’t expect to eat lunch afterwards!
There was nothing that we didn’t like that we were not aware of in advance. Note that there is no hotel lounge as such or bar - which meant that to meet and chat with our friends we had to go out. The hotel is so well situated this was not a problem for us but might be a disadvantage for some people travelling together .
The lift is small and you may need a couple of journeys to get yourselves plus luggage to your room!

Everything was perfect from the welcome to the farewell. Loved the personal touches that showed care, the location, beautiful and clean rooms. We easily walked everywhere with public transport also close by. A truly wonderful stay and would love to return one day!

The hotel is located right in the hub of all activities of historical significance (within 5 minutes of walking). It is uniquely small with home like feel and maintained clean with superior sense of aesthetic. The hotel manager Ulricke’s attention to detail and welcoming smiling helpful nature makes this beautiful hotel more special. Her hospitality is infectious to run it through all the hotel staff members to make this place feel like a caring family far away from home. The restaurant is amazingly good. I would not stay anywhere else in Salzburg other than this small beautiful hotel in old town.

Location was terrific!
The only thing we didn't like were the beds. They were very hard, could have been more comfortable.

I wasn’t sure if this hotel would live up to the hype, but it absolutely does in every way. We did not meet Ulrika, but Christopher helped us check in and was great. The welcome glasses of Prosecco are a nice touch. I will also add that we had to change the dates of our stay after the free cancellation period ended, and the hotel was kind enough to let us re-book very last minute for only the small difference in rate. The hotel is very quiet and exudes class and old European charm; it sits in the most beautiful and perfect alleyway in the center of old town Salzburg. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend a reservation for dinner at the restaurant (Gasthof Gdoldgasse) - it is exceptional. Easy to see why they received a Michelin star. One other thing I sincerely appreciated is that this hotel actually has a functional A/C. Beds are cozy. Breakfast in the restaurant was great.
Nothing :)

We loved staying at this hotel. Its close enough to the action, but on a quiet side street. The breakfast is filling, with meat, cheese, yogurt and eggs. Its well worth booking with the included breakfast. The hotel itself is fully renovated, with modern, artistic touches throughout. Our room was stocked with some complimentary snacks which came in handy late in the afternoon. The room itself was not huge, but the hotel is in the old part of town and it was comfortable and efficiently renovated.
The main reason the stay at Goldgasse is Ulrike, who greets and checks everyone in and is a presence throughout the hotel. She is warm and welcoming, always ready with directions, a map and a smile. Ulrike treats everyone like family and it makes for a restful, fun stay. Of all the hotels we visited in Austria, this had a homey feel while maintaining a high level of service. I would not stay anywhere else in Salzburg.

This hotel is located in the old part of Salzburg, which is great if you arrive by taxi or Uber. We were driving a rental car and the parking lot was a good way from the hotel, forcing two of us who are 65 years old, to roll our large suitcases through throngs of tourists and over cobblestones. We were hot and exhausted when we arrived. I do not recommend staying here if you have a rental car you need to park.
That the parking was difficult. Some kind of valet parking would have been great.

Not worthy of Michelin rating. Uncomfortable bed, poor mini bar, half used bottles of juice.

Location was spot-on, right in the middle of all the action Salzburg has to offer. Staff were exceptional. This was the best welcome I have had in a budget hotel like this.
Parking and finding the location was a bit of a faff.

Hotel manager Ulrike made out stay at this hotel extra special. She is a super star. Thank you very much. The hotel breakfast was great.
The floor of the hotel room is uneven. It made me feel like falling often. Have to get used to it and be careful.
