This was our second stay at Bristol and we absolutely loved it. Everything was perfectly clean, the room was large and comfortable, water in the room in glass bottles, the view of the fortress is breathtaking.
We also needed to change our reservation on the day of due to the weather, and Gabriele was were very understanding and lovely.
No complaints.

Excellent selection at breakfast eg lots of fresh fruit, different breads etc

Classic and traditional hotel with a real feeling of being family owned. Immaculately clean and well cared for. We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas as a family of 6 across 4 rooms (1 suite, 1 double and 2 singles - all of which were lovely), we would certainly return. The Christmas Eve celebrations and dinner on the 24th will be remembered, with the hotel owner acting as compère (and even working the tables and diner and breakfast).

Great position for exploring Salzburg, everything within easy walking distance. Traditionally decorated room that was spacious and warm. Breakfast room was great and really friendly helpful staff. If you like a real traditional Austrian hotel that feels like you have stepped back in time, then this is the one for you

The hotel is like a museum ! Very impressive ! We felt like staying in the fairy tale !
Actually nothing at all . Everything was very good
Just a suggestion to add crepes for the breakfast ! This is traditional and very tasty dish especially with apricot jam .

Breakfast was good, service was friendly and location was fantastic.
The room we stayed in was full of fabrics which had not been properly cleaned/dusted for a long time. Furthermore the hotel is a popular destination for large shaggy dogs it seems. So between the dust and the dog hair this is not a place to recommend to those who suffer from allergies or anyone who is fastidious about hygiene.

Visited with my family and initially found our room to be quite small, but everything changed the moment I walked past the view (“The King Suite” as one staff retorted). It looked incredible, so I asked the concierge about upgrading and I’m so glad I did. Not only were they extremely helpful in arranging the upgrade, but I even ended up extending my stay by an extra night.
The suite itself was absolutely stunning. One balcony overlooks Mozart’s house, and the other opens up to the breathtaking Mirabell Gardens where The Sound of Music was filmed. Waking up to those views felt surreal. The room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and truly one of the best we’ve ever stayed in across Europe, though I will say the price is definitely on the steeper side.
The staff were warm, attentive, and professional throughout our stay. They even directed us to nearby parking and provided a discount ticket, which was a thoughtful touch.
If you’re visiting Salzburg and want a memorable, luxurious stay, "The View" Suite at Hotel Bristol is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!
Old furniture but I guess that what they are going for.

I loved the decor in the Hollywood room. The shade that pulled down over the tv was gorgeous. I felt like a movie star! The bathroom was lovely, heated floor, heated towel warmer, the tub AND shower and the bathroom was very roomy. Breakfast was elegant and delicious.
loved it!

This traditional hotel was the perfect choice for us to finish our trip on a high note when visiting such a cultured city. I can't imagine a more appropriate place to stay in Salzberg.
It was calm and quiet with a boutique feel and
a gorgeous view from our little balcony.
Well located to walk everywhere.
The bus stop for day trips is five minutes walk just behind the hotel next to the beautiful gardens
Only one complaint, the actual bottle of shower gel in the bathroom needed to be replaced, it was old and worn.

Hotel Bristol was by far my favorite stay! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful with elegant décor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The location is perfect—just steps away from Salzburg’s main attractions, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff were exceptional: attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly, always going the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. After checking out, we went to Hallstatt and they kindly allowed us to store our extra luggage, which was such a help. The breakfast buffet was incredible—plentiful, fresh, and offered a wide variety of choices to start the day right.

Christine was very accomodating & checked us into our room & early. She provided a lot of local information & issued us a guest mobility ticket for free train/bus/trams. This is a beautiful historic hotel. The cocktails in the bar are fantastic & the breakfast excellent. Although we did not eat in the restaurant, we heard other guest state that their meals were superb

We've been staying at this very comfortable hotel for music festivals for over ten years.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The owner is very attentive and always available, making for a wonderful stay.
The restaurant is particularly excellent for breakfast, but lunch and dinner are also delicious, with a relaxing atmosphere.
There are other good hotels in Salzburg, but this one is the most relaxing.

The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful, smiley and professional. The hotel itself is very charming and elegant in an old-timey, romantic way.
Great breakfast selection for everyone who loves protein and fruit for breakfast.
There was no actual shower, just a bathtub with a curtain—showering was not a relaxing experience, and there was water on the floor everytime.
The pillows were very flat.
The towels were very thin and scratchy.

Location, beautiful bar and dining room. Breakfast buffet is a dream.
Beds are very small and not comfortable. I was charged to use a sofa bed that was included in my reservation for a small child. 160euros per day. I talked to the front desk several times but no resolution.

The Concierge went above and beyond to make us welcome and to ensure that everything was taken care of during our stay, even going as far as arran ginghams to have our bags picked up from the airport as they did not arrive until two later.
Anastasia the hostess also deserves a mention for her care and attention.
I only had one discomfort - the Aircon in our suite was in the lounge area and so it did not reach the bedroom.

Excellent location with a friendly atmosphere complimented by pleasant staff
Only fault, and one easily rectified, at breakfast there were flies on the food, mainly the fruit but still on most items.

Very good location, however, nothing else.
From the beginning of the stay to the end - we haven´t received any check-in information (where to park etc.). It wasn´t possible to park in front of the hotel, all 2 places were occupied for a very long time.
We booked a Superior room (it should have 27 m2) but we were given a very small room (number 486) which looked totally different to the photos of the superior rooms on boking.com and the hotel website. It had approx. 20 m2. The staff repeatedly claimed that it is a superior room. In fact, the room was extremely noisy (very poor sound isolation from the street noise) - it felt like you have an open window. However, after our strong disagreement with the room presented they offered us other (bigger) room seemed to be a Superior room, but we had to wait after it´s cleaned and we had to waste time and energy solving it. I think this isn´t acceptable for a "claimed" 5-star hotel. Nobody even said "sorry for it", they only stated that they classify this small terrible noisy room as a Superior room.
Then, I would expect some personal approach in a "claimed" 5-star hotel. For example, my husband had a birthday, but the hotel didn´t show any interest.
However, even the second room wasn´t acceptable for sleeping and relaxing - when anyone walked on an upper floor, our room was trembling - even the chandelier and the door were rattling.
When we were checking-out, we even didn´t receive an invoice. The "parody of the concierge" man at the reception wasn´t able to understand our disappointment and showed no empathy. So we left sad and angry and the hotel didn´t do anything to improve our mood at all.
In a nutshell, it is a very old hotel that should be renovated. I mean, it´s not historic, which would be really positive (and I don´t prefer modern style), it´s just worn out.
But what is the worst thing - the quality of the reception staff is totally unacceptable even for a 1-star hotel.

The staff was absolutely perfect in every way! Extremely kind, professional, gracious and transmitted a feeling of classic service that is very rarely found today. Truly as perfect as it gets!
The hotel generally feels like a hotel which was once exceptional but has over time not been updated sufficiently over time. Some of the rooms seem to be updated, and very nicely so, but others not. The common spaces in the hotel - from lobby to bar and restaurant, would benefit greatly from such an investment. Considering the absolutely location and the amazing staff, the hotel's hard product deserves being invested in. The only marked downside, which could definitely be improved on for such a property, was the breakfast. Could definitely be better.

We had a room with a balcony that provided an excellent view of the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They very well may have one of the best breakfast buffets we have ever had!!
Only negative was having to park in a garage a few blocks from the hotel. Valet parking charge of $60/day, which we didn't use, is a bit excessive!

Room and breakfast were outstanding and when a problem arose with arranging transport because of the marathon and inclement weather, the staff were wonderful with the concierge coming with us in the rain to help with the suitcases to find our taxi.

Rooms were clean & comfortable. Large bed & large bathroom.
The restaurant was a real disappointment. It’s over priced and it took almost an hour to receive our meal (2 main meals were ordered). We paid €36 for a small schnitzel & potatoes ( they were 3 small potatoes cut up) & €30 for a Chicken main (chicken thigh) plus an additional €16 for sides (mashed potato & broccoli). The food wasn’t very good and was sure not worth the money we paid. We also got charged (€12) for the ‘free’ bread & butter we were given when we sat down which we did not order. Just to mention the man in the black suit who was running the restaurant was quite aggressive & really unpleasant to be around. I would avoid.

The hotel has history and charm in loads. The rooms are perfectly unkept and cleaned. With plush carpets, very comfortable. The staff were marvelous and service extremely personal. The location is great being just across the river from the old city
The hotel, with its history, is next to the church the bells start going off at 7 am. It’s not that obtrusive because the soundproofing is good but if you’re a late sleeper, might be an issue.
