A really welcoming, friendly place. Traditional but modern at the same time, my son was over the moon when we discovered there was both a darts board and pool table in the bar area.
Nice, clean room with a smart TV and mini fridge.
Staff went above and beyond from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
Nothing at all, would definitely stay again in a heartbeat!

We did not require a full English Breakfast and were not offered an alternative ie: Scrambled egg on toast
The male manager.
I think his name is Basil Faulty Junior

We stayed overnight at the Vines Hotel as we were visiting Clarksons farm and pub. The lady that runs the hotel was polite, helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one. The hotel is clean, and well looked after &had everything we could possibly need for an overnight stay.
No negative comments at all. Stayed many places and we were made to feel very welcome.

On arrival at the property we were welcomed by the manager James. The hotel was warm and beautifully decorated. The property has Cotswold charm, and exceptional comfort.
The rooms had everything we needed, and more for our stay.
Situated in a stunning area. Perfect for visiting Cotswolds wildlife park, and historic Bourton.
Breakfast was delicious.
Everything about our stay was exceptional. The welcoming reception, and comfort at the hotel was both appreciated, and to be recommended.

Lovely room, plenty of space, lovely shower and a comfy bed. Free parking too. Breakfast was excellent for both quality, choice and service, thank you for a great stay!
No power socket by the bed...but it's not a huge thing.

Although both on the Hotel website and Booking.com, the Hotel is described as having a restaurant, when asked at reception, the answer was "that's one thing we don't have" This is misleading as we wanted to be able to eat without the need for further travel.

Nothing - everything was great!

Staff and regulars were really friendly
Good parking
Lovely room- we were above the pub
Nothing nearby
Bar didn’t open till 3pm
No evening food but they allowed you to order takeaway and provided cutlery. There was a good selection of takeaways on offer

The price point vs facilities are absolutely fine, you definitely get what you pay for and in the Cotswolds it makes this property value filled.
Breakfast met expectations.
Bed is very uncomfortable, the room had a fair few silverfish, they even found their way into our suitcase overnight. I am guessing there is a slight damp issue somewhere as that’s what normally attracts them.

Comfy clean & good breakfast
Quirky

Parking, location, breakfast, bar, WiFi.
Room could do with a few upgrades to take it up a level. Remove fridge from desk so it can be used. Separate place for the tea tray, get a kettle that fits under the tap. TV is outdated but workable.

The staff were absolutely lovely I’d definitely stay there again.
The only thing you need to remove is the fact they have a restaurant but they only serve breakfast.

Great location, quiet and very friendly staff. Great breakfast
The hotel has just changed management and the restaurant was closed on an evening so we had to drive into Carterton to eat on an evening. This is currently being addressed so hopefully on our next visit we will be able to eat at the hotel

Clean, quiet location, good breakfast, good rate. WiFi worked.
TV was very small, breakfast start time of 0715 was tight for work. Water pressure in shower was very weak

Staff were very friendly, accommodating and informative. The building from the outside looks lovely.
Sadly the place did not live up to the photos. The main building is a lovely looking old Cotswold place but the carpet in the dining area is stained and not very inviting. The rooms above the pub are beyond needing TLC and the block of rooms at the rear carpark could be so much better if they were brought up to spec. The whole place needs painting and decorating and carpets and some of the mattresses are in urgent need of replacing. It could be so much more if it was kept in order and I feel sorry for the staff who have to hear the negative feed back as it is not their fault.

It was warm and comfortable
Not open on arrival before 3pm

The immediate pub areas was nice and cosy
The carpet in the dining room and in the corridor of the room block is absolutely horrendous, either buy a rug doctor or change the flooring to an easy cleanable surface

Not much really - The room & surroundings were beautiful
Quite a lot - It’s a b & b, not a hotel. There is no food available.
You can hear every word from the bar downstairs & the music which went on until gone 12 one night & no chance of sleeping and the music starts again at 6am. It definitely isn’t a peaceful retreat during the evening.
The shower is a warm trickle.
The 3 mornings I stayed there , there was no white bread, no butter, no teaspoons. No cereal bowls.
Basic breakfast.
Not value for money at all.

Pretty old building
No food was available and this was not made clear on booking, had to order a takeaway which was not what we had hoped to be doing.

The walls were thin and could hear from the other rooms

Great.
My single bed mattress was weakly sprung and i tended to roll off the side.

The setting the cosiness of the bar and room
The fact that it didn’t say there were ground and first floor rooms my mum originally booked a twin room for myself and dad then found she was able to go on this trip so booked another double room her intention for me to have the double and her and dad the twin . When we came to swap the rooms we found the twin was upstairs my dad being 83 was unable to climb the stairs as he has arthritis in his knees. Also the pot holes need attending to . Sorry I have had to add these dislikes as the stay was really nice.

The cosines of the bar and the room
The fact that we arrived in the dark and the way to the annexe was poorly lit and the path had quite a lot of pot holes as my husband is 83 and bad on his legs they were a bit of a worry
7.0 / 10.0
Quiet, friendly staff, welcoming.
Its not a dislike, it was a shame they are transitioning staff, so no tea time chef.

There was one member of staff who went so far above & beyond her name ways Kye the hotel was very short staffed due to unforeseen circumstances this lady was checking in guests serving the bar & dealing with guests on the phone this lady is a superwoman the management are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated hard working member of staff all the guests that stayed there this weekend were more than impressed with Kye her attitude attention to detail the high level of service provided made this stay a great the rooms were very cosy lovely bar area dual fireplaces were amazing the property is in a beautiful location
The pillows seriously need changing they are flat as pancakes the mattresses also could do with updating there were total of four of us with the same exact experience which is unfortunate this place really has good potential the website looks good the property doesn’t serve food at all which is a shame as the location is quite isolated all the lovely tables and dining areas our room had quite bad shower pressure the taps seemed to have very high pressure strange it was enough to have a shower other than this it’s a great location hopefully the management make some changes here to get the lovely pub they have downstairs to get this place busy again

Beds uncomfortable, mattresses need replacing.

Idyllic location, lovely period property. Warm and cosy.
Bathroom was shoehorned in the room, and mattress was very much in need of updating. I think we stayed at an unlucky time for the hosts due to not having an evening chef and as such no evening meals available.
8.0 / 10.0
Room was nice . Big walk in shower . Breakfast was good
Mattress was too hard could of been a bit softer . Did email them about parking but didn't get a reply . Didn't open until 3pm so we had to wait in carpark .
