The staff were all so friendly and the pub was very cosy and in a brilliant location. An extra mention to Dan who was so helpful and who made sure our stay for a special anniversary was really lovely, thank you so much.

Breakfast was a little early if you wanted to have a little lie in . 8.30-10 would be a little more flexible

We loved everything about our weekend at the Plough Inn. The property was so charming and the room was really comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast downstairs 2 times and they were exceptional! Such a peaceful getaway!

We stayed one night at The Plough Inn in Kelmscott and absolutely loved it. Such a charming and cozy place! Everything was spotless, the room was beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, and the whole atmosphere felt warm and welcoming.
The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, which made our stay even more special. Breakfast was also excellent — fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared.

We stayed in Fruit and loved the big bathroom window, huge cupboard to hang our coats, fresh coffee to make in the morning, powerful hairdryer, luxury toiletries and huge fluffy towels warmed on the radiator. Check-in was very smooth and efficient as was checkout. There was a parking space in the car park when we arrived. We booked dinner and there was a real fire in the grate which added a cosy atmosphere. The English sparkling wine was a nice local touch.
There were some animal hairs on the blanket over the bed - it was probably a pet friendly room. There was no hand towel in the bathroom and toast wasn't standard with breakfast. There was a sign in the room saying if we preferred fresh milk we could ask for it but there wasn't anyone around in the morning pre breakfast serving time so one to ask for the night before.

Room was perfect, designed really well with high quality toiletries and tea / coffees etc.
Breakfast was outstanding and the pie at dinner was 10/10.
With breakfast, our doggy companion and offstreet parking - all very good value for money overall and in a great location for walking.
Nothing - just note that you obviously need a car to get around.

Our second fantastic stay at The Plough at Kelmscott, and it didn’t disappoint. This beautiful Cotswold pub is a real gem.
Trudy was warm and welcoming and is a huge asset to The Plough, as was the rest of the team — friendly, attentive, and genuinely lovely.
Our room, “Scroll,” was beautiful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. We felt completely at home and can’t wait to return.
Thanks to Trudy and the team.

We had a fantastic stay from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d chosen the right place thanks to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly made us feel at home. Enjoying a beer and wine by the open fire was the perfect start to the evening.
Dinner was superb — the homemade steak pie and pork chop were both absolutely delicious. Having everything added to a tab made checkout effortless.
The room was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, with a powerful hot shower and an incredibly comfortable bed. We honestly couldn’t fault the place and would happily return.
It’s genuinely hard to find anything negative — if we’re being really picky, the room was perhaps a little warm for our personal preference, but this was easily sorted by turning the radiator thermostat down.

Lovely wallpapers by William Morris and great free standing bathtub. Quiet area and close to the Cotswolds.
I had booked a countryside stay with my best friend for my 40th birthday. Unfortunately the Plough Inn was disappointing. I almost never have any bad experiences through booking.com but this time there were several.
- the food was really bad - the sticky toffee pudding I had was very dry and tasted chemical. The vegetarian shepherds pie was extremely dry as well. The poached eggs at breakfast were very dry and overcooked and hard as stones. Was hoping the coffee would be good, but it was very weak. I didn’t want to complain as food can be hit and miss and my friend had a great apple pear crumble and tea.
- the staff wasn’t friendly and were quite ignorant. This really made me sad as I love the UK exactly for its friendly people and really looked forward to this trip becuase of it.
- cleanliness issue - When we arrived there were no small towels to be seen and the large ones looked less fresh. But I didn’t care much and next morning I found a small towel hanging under the sink and was gonna use it until I opened it and found it full of makeup. And it wasn’t spots, but fresh makeup. That was disgusting and made me doubt the cleanness of the other towels I had just used.
I told the manager and she was kind enough to give us a discount after checking the towel herself. I appreciate this, however given the fact that the food wasn’t great and the staff not very friendly I would not recommend this place, at least not in January. Maybe it’s different during the high season and with different staff and chefs. But being my 40th birthday I was very sad to spend it here.

Lovely old pub in the middle of nowhere, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in willow room, massive bed and woke up to birdsong!! IDEAL
Walls thin so could hear adjacent room noise, big first step up to bathroom, kettle lead not long enough to reach socket so had to put kettle on floor!

Big thick towels.
Super comfortable bed.
Tasty, cooked breakfast although sausage tasted cheap.
Arrived in the evening so too dark to explore surroundings.
Artisan teabags were not to my taste, owner was kind enough to give me some regular teabags!
Didn't receive much of a welcome, given a key and directions to the room where I found instructions for WiFi and times of/where to eat breakfast, what time to check out.
No bar snacks which I was messaged about to come and enjoy.
Locals in the bar when I arrived at around 1700 but went down later to find it empty. No atmosphere.
No bath.
Coffee 'machine' is a cafetiere.
Water from the shower tray went everywhere, soaking the bath mat, unpleasant to stand on the next morning.
Dogs in the dining area where I ate my breakfast.
No toast with cooked breakfast - just one small hash brown.
An intermittent but constant humming noise overnight from some sort of generator at the back of the pub kept me awake (Meadow Sweet room) I didn't sleep well.
Not worth the cost.

Charming Cotswolds inn, great location close to Thames river walks. Room was very comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. Excellent breakfasts and we found enough good choices on menu to dine both nights rather than worry about driving home from other places on a frosty night. We also liked that our room had a bath and that the place is very dog friendly.
I was surprised how early the bar closed on the first night when I fancied a ‘nightcap’, but I appreciate there’s no point paying bar staff to stay late in an empty bar!

Location, Good food and open fire.
Room was unclean with a horrible smell.
Staff other than two were rude unhelpful and lacking people skills.
Made a personal complaint when checking out (early) with no acknowledgment or apology.
Asked for a manager to call !!! 3 days later we are still waiting.

Lovely location and an attractive property. The room itself looked great in an old building and was very warm. The bed was excellent – comfortable, a good size, and set in a really nice space. The bathroom and shower also looked good on first inspection.
Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly. When my partner went to shower, the lock on the bathroom door was broken, then the shower handle came off in her hand. After about a minute the shower cubicle flooded, with water pooling across the bathroom floor. She had to stop mid-shower, and I couldn’t shower at all, which was particularly frustrating as we’d been hiking that day in Pen y Fan and really needed one.
There were a few other issues too: the windows in the room need attention, the water bottle provided had no top, and there was only one teabag instead of two. To avoid a repeat of the previous night, we didn’t attempt to shower in the morning.
Breakfast was good, but we didn’t get any toast and had to ask for orange juice.
Overall, what could have been a great stay turned into a disappointment due to basic maintenance and attention-to-detail issues. Would I stay again? Probably not.

Full of rustic charm. A delightful period inn, welcoming and cosy.
There was very little to fault. If I had to choose something it would be that the duvet could have been a bit thicker for the time of the year.

Beautiful old pub. The decor was fabulous, it was warm and cosy with a log burner in the bar . . The rooms were beautifully decorated , spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable . The coffee/tea facilities in the room were the very best, there was freshly ground coffee and a cafetière and the tea bags supplied were top quality . The room included breakfast which was excellent . We will definitely stay here again
There was nothing to dislike . The only downside for me was we had a room with a bath and I am unable to climb into a bath , so would specifically request a room with a walk in shower next time , which the other members of the family had , but this is my fault for not requesting it

Amazing location and building. Staff are lovely nothing is too much trouble. Exceptionally clean. Food is amazing. Room beautiful and so so clean. They had a power cut while we were there but staff dealt with it well plenty of candles in the bar and log fire. It didn't interfere with our visit at all made it actually more romantic. The power came back on after a little while. Outstanding hotel in every way!
Nothing perfect

The Plough is situated in the most beautiful setting, quite and tranquil with the themes walk a few minutes from the pub. It's great base for discovering the cotswolds but obviously recommend a car as transport would be essential. The food was very good and the Sunday roast was exceptional with large portions and all the trimmings. The staff were very polite and attentive and most welcoming. I would highly recommend the Plough for a relaxing pleasant stay.

Absolutely loved the tiny hamlet in which it is located. So calm and beautiful with a lovely walk by the river.
The rooms were so cosy and you could feel much love was put into decorating them.

The breakfast was delicious!

Very lovely building. Lovely rooms, staff were great and accommodating. Decorated really nicely very clean.
Everything was great. The only thing that I would suggest was to have the shower attachment so it could hook onto the wall so that you could use it. It was placed at a sideways angle for just holding the shower. You do have the option of using the rain shower, but sometimes you just don’t want get your hair wet. And an adjustable showerhead means you can just place it at the right spot.
