a la carte ordering makes it easy, you can have what you like when you like. which i prefer to buffet options.
the dog was made to feel very welcome, which was kind and made the stay easier
i was given a room at top of the house which didn't suit me and the dog, so i was moved to a courtyard room which i was thrilled with - so thank you
if i'd been made aware of very steep stairs and two flights of them, i wouldn't have booked the family room

It’s a beautiful country pub with very comfortable rooms, excellent food and excellent, friendly staff. The best place I’ve stayed in a long time, thank you!

We stayed in the Superior room for my husbands birthday. What a beautiful room it was. Although it was directly above the bar, it wasn't noisy. We had a wonderful meal as well. Couldn't fault it. Everything was delicious and I thought, considering the standard of the food, it was very reasonably priced. All the staff are lovely too. Breakfast was just as good in the morning and plentiful. You could basically have what you wanted from the menu, as many times as you wanted. We didn't of course 😁 but we didn't feel like we couldn't have asked if we wanted to. There is what looks like a lovely garden and we would definitely return in the summer for a little break. Totally recommend for a night away.
There was only one thing that wasn't perfect. The bed was very hard. It could be personal preference but the bed wasn't as comfy as we would have liked.

Breakfasts were exceptionally good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and dealt with problems as they arose. We were given free evening meals to compensate for the problems which arose which was in our opinion the correct approach.
We were disappointed to have to ask when we came back after a day out to have our room serviced . The room itself was rather jaded and could have done with some tlc. Our friends we went with had to be moved to another room for the second night as the taps in the bathroom were hanging off and there were nails in the bath panel protruding which could have been quite dangerous.

Amazing restaurant with great food and service. Staff were polite and welcoming.
Rooms had all the amenities required and were lovely warm and cozy on a cold rainy day. Very clean. We will return.
The rooms are a little tired, but not offensive. Mattress could do with an upgrade, but we still slept well after a long day in the countryside.

Cute, cosy bar and eating area. Rooms were spacious for an Inn, and comfortable beds. Breakfast was delightful. Staff are incredibly handy. Best to have a car to visit. 10-minute drive to Oxford park-and-ride.
Hot water was on and off for the first night, other times no problem.

We found the property to be perfectly located in a quiet village environment but with easy access to the park and ride at Redbridge. The staff were friendly, welcoming and were happy to offer recommendations to attractions locally.
The room offered everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and our evening meal and breakfast were exceptional. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others and we are really looking forward to our next visit.

It is full of character, comfortable and homely. The room was really comfortable. We had a lovely dinner and the breakfast was amazing. The staff were so friendly and professional, we felt we were in good hands and nothing was too much trouble.
It’s an old property so you have to be prepared for uneven stairs, low doorways and a few draughts. We didn’t mind any of these things, they just added to the charm.

Quaint old coaching inn with a modern twist. Beams, log fires, but well appointed restaurant with amazing staff.
Unfortunately two of our three rooms had no hot water - broken boiler. This happens, but we were well informed and well accommodated by using shower in the third room, with a late checkout and invoice reduction too.

The Bear and Ragged Staff exceeded every expectation. From the moment I arrived, the property felt warm, charming, and full of character. The building is beautifully preserved, and the atmosphere combines history with genuine comfort.
My room was generous in size, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was excellent, the bathroom was surprisingly large, and everything was spotless. The complimentary drinks in the room — tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and water — were a thoughtful touch after a long day of travel.
The restaurant and pub were another highlight. The meals were delicious, and the pub had the kind of welcoming, relaxed energy that makes you want to stay a little longer. The team working here is exceptional: friendly, attentive, and truly committed to making guests feel at ease.
This inn offers a rare combination of charm, comfort, and outstanding service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Booked this mainly because I'd stopped off for lunch there once and it was excellent so when the opportunity presented itself for a few nights stay I thought I'd give it a go. Room was warm, comfortable with a decent shower and wifi. Staff were friendly and helpful and food for the evening meal and breakfast was great.

Very comfortable, clean rooms. Lovely touches like bottled water and fluffy towels and robes. Amazing breakfast. The young lady who was in charge at breakfast, Tania (sorry if name spelt wrongly) was really lovely and couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome.

The Bear and Ragged Staff is a heritage inn in a small village near Oxford. It was an excellent place to stay and an easy drive to the nearest Park and Ride station for our time in Oxford. Our twin room and bathroom were spacious and nicely decorated. The restaurant and bar were both lovely, the food was excellent and the service also excellent
Nothing at all, I couldn't fault our stay.

The staff really make this place welcoming! It’s an extraordinary set of buildings in a lovely quiet setting. Tawny (sp?) at Reception was so kind and helpful and Shirley Ann at the bar treated us so cheerfully! The room was quaint with modern conveniences; tea, coffee and biscuits; and a great soaking tub. Breakfast was excellent.
The distance from the Oxford Railway station wasn’t great, but long-term road closures meant a £30 cab fare.

A lovely English pub with lots of character. A quiet setting with easy access to Oxford by bus.
The bathroom needs a fan as well as the skylight that opens.
