Location

My wife and I took the quadruple room with terrace for our five night stay during mid-April. The main bedroom has a big comfy bed with two single beds in a separate room which has the doors to both the entrance and terrace. There is no door between the rooms. Being an older property, all of the mains sockets are of the three-pin Type L variety, so some two pin euro plugs won't fit without an adapter. The terrace and the little balcony are fab, offering both sun and shade. It was definitely worth paying the extra to have these. We were lucky and enjoyed sunny weather (23C) for most of our stay. With the windows open, there was a lovely fresh atmosphere which meant that we didn't need to use the air conditioning. The surrounding area was quiet day and night which was very welcome. Our host Alessandra, as many have noted, is lovely and very helpful. We were in Lucca for our anniversary and having seen the cards on the dresser, she left us a card of her own and a small gift which was a lovely and unexpected touch. Lucca is pretty compact and we were able to walk to the apartment from the railway station in about 15 minutes. The Piazza Dell'Anfiteatro (which is packed with tourist trap eateries) is a little over five minutes away on foot with a Conad mini-supermarket and Lucca's main street just a couple of minutes further on. Getting to the city wall is a five minute walk to the east. There are lots of good places to eat in Lucca, but giving a shout-out to the Trattoria Canuleia which is a gem of a restaurant that we stumbled upon just a five minute walk away. Not the cheapest but absolutely worth checking out. I am sure that we will return to Lucca and we would defintely stay here again.
