The Hotel Diana/San Marino was probably the best hotel we stayed at in Italy. The location in Lucca was perfect with its close proximity to the train station (10 minutes), its location to the core of the city, the breakfast was wonderful and the room was first class. The staff (Claudia and Nicholas) made you feel at home every time you walked into the hotel. A combination of ambiance and affordability you will not find anywhere!

The hotel is very well located and the staff are very attentive.
I spent the New Year holidays there and only had a problem with parking, which was mentioned shortly after booking, but the staff helped me find another parking lot.
They are pet-friendly and the location is amazing!
The photo is from the parking lot, behind the Duomo di San Martino.
At new year's eve I had to move my car however the staff helped me to find another parking lot. It happened because the city is famous for its new year party.

Check in, check out. The staff were very helpful. It's centrally located. The room was clean.
The rooms are located on a main street with people walking past and talking. It's difficult to sleep at night if you don't have ear plugs. I can't understand why hotels such as this in an old building do not have sound insulation such as double glazed windows. Anyone walking past your room and talking within the hotel can be heard. Anyone closing their bedroom door creates a lound echo. I even heard snoring from the room located opposite me.
