Great apartment overlooking Malcesine harbour

This is a review of the apartments owned by the San Marco, not the hotel itself. We booked a one bed apartment and were given a free upgrade to a 2 bed apartment on the 3rd floor. What did we like? The view from the little balcony overlooking the harbour - it only seats 2 so if there are 4 of you that might be an issue, but it is lovely if you want to eat in. The rest of the apartment is fine, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, reasonable kitchen facilities and a great location right in the centre of Malcesine

The friendly staff , the fabulous location , wonderful view from very comfortable room . Lovely breakfast. Bar food excellent. Great place to watch the world and the boats going by.

Beautiful location hotel, comfortable room.

I would have given this hotel a 5 star, but there were a few issues about it. First the good: the location was perfect, right in front of the port and in the middle of everything. The room was spacious, with a big bed and a good size bathroom. We also had a terrace facing the water, which was superb. The hotel has an elevator which is a big plus in Europe. There is also a nice restaurant on the main floor.

On the less positive side, there was no refrigerator in the room which is a problem when it's so hot outside. Also, no drinking water was provided, so we had to come down on the main floor and carry water upstairs with a cup a few times a day. Also, during our 4-day stay we only received two minuscule pieces of soap and two small shampoos.

Great value and location with good hosts

Excellent location right at the harbour; our room looked out that way so could see the lake and boats coming and going . Room was spacious and had plenty of natural light. Breakfast was great

Exceptional and staff were amazing.

Location was brilliant. Right on the harbour. Breakfast was as expected. Room with a view of the lake, altho bed was a bit hard. Very clean. The staff were amazing, friendly, courteous and inviting. Especially Angela and Tibi. Thank you to Stefano as well for allowing us to use a room as very late check out. You were all awesome. If I ever stay in Malcesine again, I would stay here.

Fantastic location, right next to scenic little harbour with ferries. Good selection of breakfast options. Excellent range of restaurants a few minutes walk away for evening meals.

Perfect Location

Perfect Location, Cafe downstairs. Right on the harbour where you can get boat trips and water taxis. Close to restaurants, pubs, ice-cream shops. Nearest grocery store about 5-8min walk up a slight hill. Cobblestone walkways everywhere so no heels needed.

Ladies at check-out and breakfast were very rude, before that we actually had a very good impression of the hotel but after that we won’t come back! Definitely avoid the bar and restaurant, just had drinks but it they just try to rip you off (worst quality products).

San Marco was a great place to stay, with the bonus of the great room we luckily had

Location is perfect. The main reason we rate our visit as excellent was that we (by chance) ended up in room 42 which had a large roof terrace with a fantastic panorama of the lake, harbour and town

No tea making facility in my room and they refused to supply any, The telephone didnt work so for reception I had to go downstairs for anything I wanted. No refrigerator in my room. Had to ask for shower toiletries to be replaced. These are things I have been used to for years now

Perfect location, right near the restaurants and gorgeous little port, very convenient for getting a ferry. Great staff, so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really fantastic- we sat outside every morning- great coffee, fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, yoghurt, boiled eggs etc. Yes the rooms are dated and the AC isn’t fab but they aren’t a 5 star place - you get what you pay for. It was immaculate and linens were fresh! We would definitely stay there again!

Great little hotel with amazing location.

The location could not have been better! Right off the main square where the ferry comes in. Loved looking out the window and watching the action below from our 3rd floor window. Breakfast was fair could've had more choices, our room was good size.

We happened to be in a room for the disabled and our shower did not have much of a upper lip to it with a shower curtain. Had problems with water overflowing in the shower area as the drain was clogged. Was never resolved while we were there.

Great location, poor establishment.

Location is brilliant. Hotel is placed right in the city center next to the port. Everything is in walking distance - port, beach, restaurant, funicular. No parking, but staff is ready to provide not-so-pricey parking card for a parking place five minutes away from hotel.

Lots of noise coming from the street even during night or early morning hours. Some nights there was loud music coming from neighboring apartments. Breakfast is rather basic. No A/C and no chance to get fresh air during the night due to the noise. The guests are supposed to empty their bins on check-out despite the € 100 cleaning fee.

Very disappointed with the attitude of the management

The Location was great, the room size was very good and the the room was clean

There were two main issues, firstly we travelled with a very small toy poodle 2kg, on arrival the owner wanted to charge 50 euro for the dog for two nights, when we challenged her she decided that the dog would be free, this was we believed a deliberate rout to extract money from guests. Secondly one room had a leaking AC unit for the two days we stayed, so much water was on the floor that towels had to be replaced hourly, the owners said that it was impossible to have it repaired or change rooms, in fairness they compensated us finically for the inconcenice.

The location was amazing, the staff was super friendly!

There is no parking area at the hotel, you have to park about 5 mins away. The wifi did not really work.

Unpleasant owner

The location is great and the view from the balcony is beautiful. The AC was broken and the room near the road so the night was noisy. Overall was ok, clean and you can find good restaurants around, as it’s better to have your dinner or brunch outside the hotel’s restaurant. The food is not great the prices are very high and SERVICE is very POOR. The owner was very rude, the service provided by her was awful, every time she was serving us we felt so bad and uncomfortable. Very unpleasant women
