Very friendly staff, helpful, lovely place to stay and good value.
Breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely and hot, which was much appreciated, but the quality of the sausages and tomatoes could have been better. Other than that, the staff couldn't have done any more to be helpful. A really lovely vibe.

We had the warmest of welcomes from Liz, our host. This was a last minute booking due to cancelled ferries to Orkney and road closures due to the snow. Liz was so welcoming and swiftly made us feel at home, even with our very unhappy cat. Liz went above and beyond helpfulness and empathy with our circumstances and I couldn't be more grateful to her. Additionally the breakfast was outstanding and it was a fabulous location. Thank you Liz, you helped make a difficult day and a half a lot less stressful. Sorry we didn't catch you to say a proper 'Goodbye' when we left. We wanted to do it swiftly because of the cat, but were sad not to see you.

I had a wonderful stay. The room was warm, cosy, and spotless, with comfortable bed and plenty of hot water.
I really appreciated their eco-friendly approach — no wasteful disposable toiletries or packaging, just high-quality products in hygienic dispensers.
The staff were lovely, everything ran smoothly, and the cooked breakfast was excellent. I’d happily stay again and highly recommend it!

Loved this place, so quiet and peaceful, plenty of parking and great wi-fi. My room was huge but cosy and welcoming, so comfortable, lovely linen and big towels. Thank you Dan, for making my stay so wonderful, I never heard any noise which gave me the opportunity to catch up on some much needed sleep. I loved every minute and appreciated the privacy and you answering all my queries.
In the room were booklets of info about this magnificient 1750 Circa house and nearby attractions, restaurants and shops. So much time and thought was put into the booklets, thank you Liz, your lodge is magnificent. Loved the stone ornaments in the house, so creative. I felt very much at home, was sad to leave and hope to visit again soon. Thank you so much for everything.

Everywhere in Thurso is in walking distance, so check google maps before taking a taxi, even when its raining, which is often. The leisure centre is a new, well used facility by the community, so check beforehand whether the pool is open session or being used by schools or community groups. It has a tight programme which is good but means you cant just pitch up and swim as I found out to 2 occasions in 24 hrs. (the second time I misread the programme by an hour).
People need to realise Thurso is at the end of the Country, the end of the Railway and is 4 hrs by train from the nearest city Inverness, which by comparison with other cities, is small itself. Coming by car affords a far greater freedom of movement around the surrounding countryside, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage site but unless you journey inland, the traveller will miss this extraordinary landscape. The train travels across the countryside, which is amazing.. I know Thurso, and therefore was not disappointed in any way, There are plenty of eating facilities throughout the town, LIDL and Tesco supermarkets, and a Caravan and Camping site right on the Firth. There are other artisan shops also, so a proper Scottish feel.

We really enjoyed staying here. The host was wonderful, spacious rooms, hot shower, the breakfast was made to order and good wifi. We highly recommend staying here if travelling to Thurso or NC500. We would definitely stay here again.
The room was on the 2nd floor so we had to walk up the stairs but the staff did help with our luggage

The owner was so helpful! Great service; got a cab for me to catch the ferry to Orkney and gave me great advice for how to time it and serving an early breakfast. She even mailed something I left to a forwarding address. That was a above and beyond! Thank you, Liz!

The breakfast was so good. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. Couldn't fault it in anyway.
My only fault with the room is that the decor could do with a bit of a face-lift. Bathroom was lovely, modern lighting, blinds etc. Bed linen could do with updating. Then again, that is just my opinion.
