Good location. Good breakfast
Poor maintenance. One of the curtains dropped and laid under the window. No tissues with an empty tissue box. Window was not tight enough, cracking and leaking cold wind into the room.

Breakfast, room service, friendly staff and revolving doors...
The unavailability of an untuned piano...

Centrally located for shops, entertainment, transport links. Friendly staff, fresh filling breakfast with hot & cold options. Spacious, comfortable, clean & quiet rooms, even when facing onto road.
Nothing much, everything I was looking for was met. Building is old and could do with some TLC but it doesn't affect your stay.

It was great very comfy bed and good value
The breakfast could’ve been warmer. The room could’ve been warmer too but was only one night we stayed

The location was good. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I arrived at the hotel, and they had no room for me, even though I had confirmed my arrival date change with the manager through Booking.com. I showed the confirmation to the receptionist, who questioned whether I was arriving on the correct day. They first offered to move me to another hotel 5 miles from downtown, which I declined. They then offered a hotel near the train station at their expense, and I accepted. I returned to the Pentland Hotel the following day for one-night stay. The room was a good size, but the furniture showed noticeable signs of wear and tear.

The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was good evening buffet and breakfast both.
We travelled up from Clydebank to Thurso. We were there to attend my wee sisters funeral. The Purvey for the Funeral was also at the Pentland The Staff handled this emotional time with sensitivity. The food was good too.
Better pillows.

breakfast was poor, some items were just look warm, some were not cooked very well, toaster was terrible, one side burnt and the other side practically raw.
dinner in the bar was not very good, cheap prices but poor quality

Spacious bedroom, clean, comfortable & with renovated en-suite. Tasty & filling breakfast with good variety of hot & cold food. Close to centre of town & public transportation.
Nothing really, all boxes ticked & no issues.

Great central location in Thurso. Friendly staff and good service. We liked the vintage character and vibe. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast included in our room rate and they usually serve a buffet style cooked breakfast but we stayed here out of season (November) so it was quiet and they made us a cooked to order breakfast. Very generous lots of options. We stayed on a Sunday night and they did a carvery dinner 3 courses for £21. Very good value and tasty food. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Plenty of street parking nearby.
Nothing really.

The most welcoming staff
Laura on reception was very friendly and would do anything to make your stay comfortable. Laura selected a very good playlist for us to listen to whilst enjoying drinks in the lounge.
Breakfast staff were also very charming even at 630am in the morning Breakfast selection was also very good.
Our dog was also made to feel like a VIP (Very Important Pooch) with treats, blanket and towel supplied in the room.

The property is very historical and has some interesting architectural features.
The shower didn’t have a full curtain, so some water got on the floor.

Location and breakfast was great.

The room was comfortable and had a bath in the bathroom.
Breakfast was poor, I had called in advance to ensure Gluten free was available , very little was. Staff were no where to be found, we were asked to sit down at @ table then just left. No staff around when we wanted to ask what to do next. Buffet cooked breakfast which was Luke warm and obviously been sitting there for a while. No gluten free bread available, when I asked the waitress ‘huffed’ and went into the kitchen. Tea and coffee was in flasks and cold.

Location was ok
The beds were uncomfortable. The bathrooms had a musty smell and were exceptionally small. The Bain mare breakfast was not overly appealing.

Nothing
Windows dirty curtains hanging off base of beds damaged ( have photo proof) windows were minging. The door did not fit properly and the service was very poor and breakfast was a joke the staff did not interact or helpful when we asked for them to fill up the food trays

Great location and the bar downstairs was also great for a nightcap. All the staff we met were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful.
Some good restaurants a short walk away (we did not dine in the hotel)
A lift would have been good for us.

Alot of stairs snd no lift.

Nice hotel, good location, clean and comfortable. Our bathroom and bath were very large and bright, very nice.
Our room was dated with a split in the wallpaper and the double glazed window had become obscured. There is no parking at the hotel, we had to park our car a couple of streets away.

Nice older building. All nice and clean. Best breakfast ever with a good range of items including haggis and porridge ( buffet style ) great price lunches too
Coach parties seems to have all the tables reserved at breakfast and lunch leaving next to nothing for normal bookings . Shame as everything else was good

Great central location, nice lounge area at reception. Robes in room.
Description of room advised we would have slippers, a trouser press, tea or coffee making machine. All missing (Had a kettle). Had to keep asking for tea bags and milk as not replenished although was later on on second day. My husband is 6 ft and his legs hung out of the bed so definitely not a double sized bed ! Advised receptionist second morning that our shower was cold. She said she would have it looked at. Asked a few hours later after back in and was told handyman hadn’t been yet so another cold shower. She asked are we running it long enough but first day we had a hot shower and was instant. … handyman never appeared. No one to great you at breakfast so I just sat down. Had cereal and orange juice both lovely. Would’ve liked some fresh fruit only bowls of canned fruit out. Didn’t know there was a toast machine till second day due to lack of waiting staff in room. Pastries out but uncovered. Cooked breakfast laid out buffet style which my husband had but said wasn’t very nice. Tea and coffee available. Tea had ran out so had to ask for it. Evening dinner in the bar area. Would’ve been nicer in the dining room. Bar area just that bar, had the food was ok. Good sized portions. Guy at bar with beard very nice and helpful younger staff not so much. Unfortunately due to misleading info about room and cold showers wouldn’t stay here again. Not worth the money we paid. Nicer hotels near by.

Location was great
Receptionist was rude, not welcoming. Bar area had food on floor. Room was not cleaned. When questioned why not was told we needed to put sign out. No sign to ask for room to be cleaned could be found in our room.

Beautiful historic property. Food was great and staff in bar and restaurant were fabulous

Bedroom was better than anticipated, bed was very comfortable and probably the best shower (water pressure and size)
in a hotel I've ever had.
Hotel was very good, location etc but the town was very quiet

Good location on NC500
Parking was on the street but there was plenty of spaces when we arrived
Evening meal was nice
Breakfast was poor and had to ask for lots of items to be replenished
Table wasn’t cleared and cleaned after eating evening meal
Staff need to be trained on catering for guests who eat in the lobby (due to having dog with them) and not in the main bar and restaurant
7.0 / 10.0
A quaint hotel in a central location, mostly used for organized tours. Abundant breakfast. The room on the second floor, without an elevator, is a bit dated but clean.

Reliable, honest staff who held our camera, left by accident, for 3 days until we returned to pick it up.
Great breakfast.
A bit noisy on the old floors in the rooms and halls.

Central and clean
No hand soap in en suite, faulty shower door. Breakfast poor had to wait until almost finished breakfast to get glass for juice, marmalade and bread for toast even after asking several times. Tea at breakfast was weak and more like hot water.

Staff- so helpful.
I left an item behind me and they organized postage for me with no fuss !!
Bar staff were so helpful and recommended things to us :)
Very friendly welcome :)
Great location.
They did appear to be a little understaffed for breakfast - there was a bus tour staying in the hotel so I think that put them under some pressure - but they were very apologetic and explained this to us.

Breakfast was lovely
Lounge bar closes at 930pm. No elevator, 30 plus stairs to room. Definately NOT suitable to people with disability

Solid hotel in middle of Thurso, does what you need it to do. Room clean, presentable and everything worked as it should.
Would stay again.

Good location, homely atmosphere, clean. Cooked breakfast was brilliant, better than many 5 star hotels.
Nothing to be honest, it was a perfectly acceptable place to stay.
