Took my money in October for a 31 December stay. It was cancelled, I was called by booking.com to say the hotel had suddenly closed and told that they should not have taken my money!!!! I have sent a message to ask for a refund and phoned. I have had no reply.
Dishonest!!!

Nothing! Except for an okay breakfast.
Everything! Very old interior to hotel. Needs total renovation to say the least.
Very sad and neglected dirty corridors, bedrooms etc. The bed was cheap with a thin and most uncomfortable mattress.Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in.

Review:
Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was disappointing. The breakfast was not up to standard — both in quality and presentation — and overall did not meet expectations. The staff were not as attentive or welcoming as I would have hoped, which affected the overall experience.
The bar closed earlier than advertised, and breakfast service was cleared away well before the stated time, leaving little opportunity to enjoy it properly.
Additionally, during our stay, some of the Nepalese staff mentioned to us that they were unhappy with their living accommodation. This was uncomfortable to hear as guests and suggested that there may be underlying management issues affecting both staff welfare and service quality.
Overall, the hotel fell short in several key areas, and I would hesitate to recommend it until improvements are made in both service standards and staff conditions.

The location
Nobody on check in on arrival. The hotel is very dated and could do with a complete overhaul along with a good clean. Some staff struggled to understand english. Breakfast was absolutely shocking and hardly fit to eat .Hot water urn for tea was tepid first morning but was replaced next day with a better one.Toaster took about 7 rounds before it was toasted. Eggs benadict was served with half cooked bacon rasher on sour dough roll which was so hard you couldnt cut it . The quality of th food is th cheapest of cheap. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.

Food was terrible, my wife ordered lasagna for dinner and it was black on top and solid, I ordered scampi and again well overcooked neither of us could eat it.
Breakfast sausages and bacon were both undercooked on my wifes plate, when we went into the restaurant for breakfast with our dog we were informed by a foreign member of staff that we were not allowed to take that THING in here and had to go to the bar which was shut and had to request it be opened.
Total lack of respect from that foreign staff member.

Good location. Also our room was cold on the first day, the excellent receptionist helped us by bringing an extra heater to our room and switching it on so room was warm on our return.
Breakfasts were disappointing. Tasteless scrambled eggs, cold mushrooms, and very limited choice, especially for vegetarians or vegans. This put us off eating in the hotel in the evening.

Staff
Shame not to be in the front room.
9am close is way to early especially on a Sunday so will look for a different hotel on next trip as eg premier inn serves until 11am.
Quality was ok but lots of things not there at 8.45am ,

Hotel was well located. Car parking area right behind hotel.
Room overlooking street has single glazing and windows didn't close properly with the result very very noisy. Room, and the overall hotel in fact, decor was extremely dated but was clean. Breakfast was awful with most of it simply inedible and ended up eating out.

Very comfortable. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious supper in the bar and breakfast the next morning. Great location for us to be near the golf club. Able to park at the hotel was a bonus.
The back entrance from the car park could have been a bit cleaner

Great location and certainly a unique historic vibe of a once great hotel
A lot of things need renovating or updating - from the locks on the doors to the wifi (just didn’t work properly) to the nasty toilet brush. Also, the weakest coffee at breakfast I’ve ever seen.

Very central location with an old world charm. All the staff were helpful and welcoming. Don't be put off by the winding corridors & the intermittent sloped floors, the rooms are worth it. Great beds!. Great breakfast. Lovely & relaxed atmosphere.
The family room is facing the main street and on a Saturday night the sound of boy racers on the street might haunt your dreams!. If you're a light sleeper, request your room towards the back of the hotel where you'll hear nothing and sleep like a log.

Convenient because it's in the centre of town
Breakfast was terrible no Bacon and scrambled eggs were burnt Sausages were slightly undercooked also used the shower and the shower tray filled with water must have been blocked so for the rest of my stay in the room all you could smell is sour water and sewage travel every year to this hotel but never again

The room was ok,but the shower didn't work, we were in room 266 out of 280 rooms ,there wasn't any lifts we had about 50 stairs to climb and as my husband has extremely bad hip and knee they didn't even offer to take our cases up .we are age 70+years and we will certainly not be using hotel again 😧😧😧even the windows were so rotten that they wouldn't open at all HORRENDOUS 😕😕😕staff were very unhelpful
