We enjoyed our stay at the Butler house.

The breakfast was wonderful and the location was close to everything. The bed was very comfy. Our room faced the garden and even though it was winter it was very pretty with lights and the grass was still very green.

The choice food choices at the evening meal time. The toasted sandwich was over toasted. The soup was just ok.

A wonderful place to spend time in Kilkenny.

It’s a beautiful, cosy and classical building and interior and the welcome was warm and friendly. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and it looked out onto the wonderful gardens. Honestly, it exceeded all my expectations and is my new favorite spot in Kilkenny! To top it off, the breakfast was superb.

A bit more space to park would have been helpful but everything else was exceptional so it’s not a dealbreaker!

Beautiful, historical building with top-notch rooms. I cannot think of another place I’d rather stay in in Kilkenny.

Too-notch Irish hospitality! Such friendly, efficient and wonderful service staff - needed some help with one of our rooms and received prompt and effective help. Both our rooms were beautifully decorated, rigourously cleaned rooms with quality furnishings, toiletries and linens - the explanations of the historical figures and surrounds in the guest books added a lovely touch. Location is right in the middle of the town centre, next to Kilkenny castle.

Be careful! They lock the garden gate in the evening and you might have to take an amazing 5 - 10 minute walk around to the front entrance.

Great size rooms, spotlessly clean. Fantastic location. Excellent staff. Lovely reception area, bar, dining room, gardens.

Breakfast was only ok. The poached eggs were nice but the fried eggs were terrible. Sausages and breakfast pudding not the nicest either. The pillows were quite hard.

Would not stay here again unless allocated a room on an upper floor.

Bedroom and bathroom were large enough and well-appointed, but in the basement with very little natural light from high windows at adjacent sidewalk level. It appears that there may be several rooms at this level--just need to ask when making reservations. Location of hotel itself is convenient to downtown Kilkenny, and parking is available. The breakfast was fine.

Did not expect to be given a room in the basement, and it definitely was not worth the price charged. Musty smell in the hallway to the room (though smell not noticeable in room itself).

Great place to stay! One of the best value rooms of our trip. Very large and clean room. Lovely carpet and warmed bathroom floor, very comfortable! The food and staff were lovely too! Would definitely recommend and go back !

A little disappointing for the price

Butler House is full of old world charm. We were lucky enough to get parking in the very small carpark although this would not be the case during busier times of the year. The hotel is well located which meant we could walk everywhere we wanted to go in Kilkenny. The staff are absolutely charming and extremely helpful.

The room was starting to show a few signs of wear and tear which we didn’t expect to see for the price we paid. Most disappointing was the quality of the breakfast. The ‘Full Irish’ was dry (overcooked eggs, no beans or anything with sauce) and so pretty unappetising, and on our second morning I ordered porridge which did not appear to have been cooked properly and was so unappetising I couldn’t finish it.

Very enjoyable, terrific location and good value for money

Location was excellent . Excellent hygiene in both recreational and bedroom areas. Room very spacious and beds/pillows being extremely comfortable Breakfast cooked fresh. Room very quiet ,staff pleasant & helpful.

On arrival we discovered 1 car parking space per booking. My booking was for 4 people , we had 3 cars having travelled from different parts of the country, which resulted in cars having to park overnight in a public car park a distance away at a cost of €16.50 . We were not made aware of the limited parking prior to arrival / booking. This was disappointing as everything else in regards to the stay at Butlers House was very satisfactory.

Room was very large. Towels were super fluffy. Breakfast options included vegan and gluten free. Staff was amazingly friendly!

Charming location with wonderful staff!

Room was great and spacious with an amazing view of the castle. We really enjoyed the free breakfast which was an added bonus. The staff was also so friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable!

The structure itself is older, so the bathroom shower door did not close all the way, but everything was very clean.

The inn is everything we hoped for and much more as part of our first trip to Ireland.

This historical house is beautiful and elegant. Its formal garden is a walk through to the Castle just steps away. Our garden-view room was large, clean, modernized, and comfortable. The manager is warm, helpful, and has worked there for twenty-four years. The breakfast was excellent. Private on-site parking was easy and safe. The medieval village has wonderful history, excellent restaurants, shops, and helpful locals.

The location was fabulous. The room was lovely.

Seemed really hard to get the tea, the creatine tea service and the truth is if we’ve gotten three of them, I don’t know what we would’ve done with it. 1 was sufficient for three people. It seemed like an enormous upsell and thank goodness they only had one left.

We loved how spacious it was and that is was within walking distance to shops and restaurants . The view out our window of the courtyard and Kilkenny Castle was beautiful. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were very comfortable. Loved the historic feel! The complimentary breakfast was excellent!

Outstanding! From the location, to the facilities, to the food and the incredible staff our stay was outstanding. The staff was stellar in all ways. The accommodations were clean, beautiful, amazing. Breakfast, lunch and cream teas were excellent. We spent four days and truly did not want to leave!
