Lovely hotel with lovely staff. Great views of the River Tyne and bridges.

Lovely views of the river and bridges, with easy access to the Quayside amenities.

We chose to come by train instead of driving. It is a steep walk to get up to the city centre. Apparently there is a Quayside bus service but we weren’t aware until we left. This isn’t the fault of the hotel, but perhaps making the service known would be a bonus.

Always try your best stay at a Copthorne due to lovely views and helpful staff

Paying for disabled parking. Unfortunately it costs a lot if you are staying for a few days and in future, we will have to perhaps look at how much extra it will be with parking when you are not near the city center.

The staff were very helpful. The room had a lovely view of the water. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Good breakfast (although it’s an extra charge).

The staff on reception are always lovely in the Copthorne. The main advantage are the views over the Tyne.

Disappointing

Location, breakfast and dining room staff, bar staff.

I stayed for 9 nights. My room wasn’t clean and daily cleaning was perfunctory. I had to ask for linen to be changed 3 times before it was done, even though I left the blue clean door hanger out every day and the sheets are supposed to be changed every 3 days. There was considerable dirt behind the sink. There was 2 tiny satchets of coffee left in room daily. Inadequate given what I paid, one day no coffee left at all. The evening dining menu was limited and expensive. The hotel advertised Sunday lunch served till 4pm, but when I returned to the hotel at 3 pm for Sunday lunch I was told it was not being served.

Booked this through booking.com on a cheap special buy and was given a room with an enormous bay window overlooking the river. The room was beautiful although a little warm. Perfect location for The Glasshouse - just a 10 minute walk passing lots of lovely bars and restaurants along the quayside. Would definitely stay again.

Evening meal was poor Lamb shank was overcooked and black on the outside - so hard that I couldn’t chew it - my husband’s was the same Sticky toffee pudding was very dry - very little sauce to go with it. Very disappointing

Love the location, love the view. I have stayed at the Copthorne each time I visited Newcastle since 2020 and have always enjoyed the visit.

I think the bathrooms need an upgrade. They look a bit tired.

Nice views over the river from my room. On site car park was handy - reduced price of £12.50 for 24 hours. Reasonable prices for a hotel bar. Bed was comfortable. Small fridge in room is useful. Decent free wifi. Very friendly staff.

Room was very hot and it was the end of September! No aircon in the room and no window you could open made it a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. The rooms definitely need refurbishing - dated slightly scruffy furniture. Had to unplug bedside lamp to get socket for phone charger. Only liquid soap in bathroom, no other toiletries.

Parking in the hotel carpark is managed by a third party and relies on handmade signs to correct the incorrect information on the parking machines: it's easy to miss this and pay extortionate parking fees (although these were later refunded).

Enjoyed the stay, will no doubt be back again

I had an upgraded room overlooking the river. The view was excellent and it was quiet on my floor. the only noise occasionally was the metro train passing over the nearby bridge. Given this is my third stay here, it wasn`t an issue for me.

The buffet breakfast was a little on the cold side.

Outdated decor in room and not the cleanest. View over river was fine, but when the sun shone we had to close the curtains as no blinds or nets. Didn't see the room service hangers and therefore did not have room cleaned! This info should be shared at Check-in as we literally dumped our bags when we arrived and did not get back until late and went straight to bed. Didn't have time to look at all the print-outs explaining we had to put a hanger outside door if we wanted it cleaning/towels/toilet rolls etc. Have never had to 'opt-in' to have room serviced before!

Parking was good underneath the hotel. King Bed was comfortable in our suite, view from room was nice. Reception staff very helpful.

Booked a suite for 3 nights, which wasn't cheap so my expectation was high. Bath was very low to floor with a cheap plastic curtain with shower over bath, this was very old & dated. Suite was mismatch of furniture some old & scruffy, carpet not very clean, stains up the wall, loose hair bands & clips found behind the curtains. Food was OK. Breakfast plates were cold & food not much hotter either, although there was a very good selection for breakfast. There were people sleeping rough outside the hotel within the window bays, surely hotel security should be moving these people on.

Very comfortable stay by the side of the river Tyne

Generous sized room facing the river - very quiet and we had a really comfortable night's sleep. Paid covered carpark adjoining made it very convenient.

Although the hotel itself had an attractive riverside location, the area around was not so appealing and the transition from car park to the hotel wasn't all that inviting. The hotel would benefit from a bit of sprucing up here and there, but overall we had a very good stay.
