Big room and staff were nice. Location was good too.

Unable to sleep due to loud music

Breakfast was lovely, reception staff always friendly and location is perfect right next to the station.

The room felt like it was above a nightclub - I was kept up very late with loud club music - the room felt like it was vibrating with the base of the music- it really affected my ability to sleep and affected my work today - I have stayed many times before but I would be hesitant to stay again unless I could guarantee a room without this noise.

Great stay.

Location was fantastic! Breakfast was really good plenty of options. Staff very helpful with advice and directions to the arena I was going to watch a show. Rooms spacious clean, comfortable beds. Definitely stay again.

We stayed for 7 nights, would probably stay again

We liked the location, being central and close to the station. We had a lovely carvery and a good breakfast whilst there

We had two very noisy nights with other guests playing loud music, shouting and having screaming arguments. We were very surprised that the night staff didn’t go round on patrol, but we did report one night and it was sorted. Good to have a fridge but we had no proper spoons, only sticks which is not ideal.

Lovely old hotel in a great location

The location of this hotel is perfect

The bedrooms are a little outdated so the price should reflect that especially when you pay for room only and no other facilities. The pool was closed during our visit which really surprised me as iv stayed all over the uk for new year and just had limited shorter hours but never a closure at all on a bank holiday. So unfortunately we only used the bedroom and had 1 drink in the bar before bed. The bar area was lovely.

The bed in my room was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, it was like sleeping on a cardboard box and was in desperate need of replacing. The room could be cleaner, the bathroom was dirty in places and dirty marks on the walls.

The location is ideal for tourism. Train station and coach station very close. Easy walk to the Utilita arena. We did explore Newcastle perfect location. Need to support this type of hotel. Keep booking it. Security on the door all times of the day and night. We arrived at 5am and welcomed.

I would stay here again as a last resort.

Location is perfect for central station, 10 minutes or so walk the major shopping stores. Staff were helpful, excellent and friendly. Every staff member I encounter said hello/good morning etc. The lobby area was clean and tidy. I didn't eat at the hotel, but the room service menu looked good (apart from the £6 tray charge)

The room itself was OK, you couldn't open the window, as the sash wouldn't stay open, so I had to prop it open. The nets were grey from mould and need dipping. There was no hair dryer in the room, and the iron was a cheap travel iron. The window sills were dusty in the corners. The bathroom was quite poor. There was no window covering, thankfully the glass was frosted. This window was also painted shut, there was no extraction or heating in this room so condensation built up quickly. It's not a room i would want to stay in in the middlenof winter! There was also issues with the hot water where it constantly fluctuating between scalding and freezing. Also some of the electrical appliance testing appeared to be out of date.

Former grand hotel, needs a refresh in perfect location

Location is fabulous. I didn’t eat breakfast as it was an extra charge - ditto the pool. The former glamour of the Victorian hotel is evident but needs a refresh of carpets and paintwork

Perfect base for a solo traveller.

Perfect facilities in the bedroom. Ideal for a base for a theatre visit. Leisure facilities basic but enjoyable. I agree with the £5 charge for guests as it is looking run down.

I went down for breakfast at 9.15am & there was very little left & no effort to replenish despite breakfast finishing at 10am. I would stay here again but wouldn't pay for the breakfast. There are better & cheaper options in town.
