Perfect place to stay

The owners made me feel like home and the room I stayed in was very clean, the interior is very pretty and the bathroom is also very clean and has everything you might need. The breakfast was delicious and overall I felt like home.

Cozy and spotless stay close to the heart of Veliko Târnovo

We really loved our stay at Guest House Gurkov. The room was very clean, cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and fresh every morning. The location is perfect, just a few minutes from the center but still quiet and relaxing. The host was super friendly and gave us great tips for free and safe parking nearby. It felt like home, warm and welcoming. We would happily come back again!

Superb, excellent, wonderful !

The view of the city from the room "king suite with balcony" relaxes you, feels the energy of the city. Being quite close to the parking lot and the old center, the included breakfast was excellent.

Perfect stay- strongly recommended

We had a lovely stay here. Buffet breakfast was delicious and varied; the family running the guesthouse were so friendly and helpful; the room was superclean and comfortable. There was seating in a nice outside terrace area and access to a shared fridge. Location was perfect- in town but on a quiet street.

A small point but maybe the option to keep towels rather than changing every day if possible (I think this may be bit better for the environment).

A cozy stay

The staff was very friendly and hospitable. It is a beautiful Bulgarian house. The room was spacious and clean, and we had a stunning view from our balcony. The breakfast was delicious.

The bathroom became very wet after showering, so a suggestion would be a floor wiper (squeegee).

Stunning guest house in a beautiful town.

This is a fantastic guest house in the heart of the wonderful town of Veliko Tarnovo. The host was extremely friendly, the room met all our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had travelled by train to Veliko en route to Istanbul and had a comfortable and restful stay at Guest House Gurkov. It was extremely hot during our stay and the air conditioned room was amazing. The breakfast offered a tasty choice of fresh food. A fantastic guest house in a lovely town.

Unfortunately there was no kettle or tea and coffee making facilities in the room.....this would have made an outstanding stay perfect for us.

Highly recommended!

The breakfast was fabulous! Cured meats, ham, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cooked and raw vegetables, eggs, yogurt, pastries, chocolate pudding with nuts, etc. Just awesome! One of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. The aircon worked well and they turned it on for me prior to my arrival. Although a refrigerator was not advertised, there is one available for use in the common area (very close to the rooms). The kind lady arranged an early taxi for me AND left me a snack of a ham and cheese sandwich, apple, banana and coffee cake. Much appreciated! The location is great too.

A wonderful vacation , an incursion into medieval history .

A special place , a gorgeous house close to the city center , impeccably clean room , spacious and quiet ; clean bathroom . The house has two beautiful terraces . Very tasty breakfast served in an impeccably atmosphere . Extraordinary host , very friendly , kind and intensely concerned with pleasing the guest . The city is very beautiful , clean , a real amphitheater with quiet streets ful of history , beautiful shops and restaurants with tasty food , smiling and warm people . Tsarevets fortress is magnificent . Sveta Gora Park is like a corner of Heaven , situated on a high hill , it's like shaking hands with God ❤️

The place is gorgeous, very cozy, excellent location but still on quiet street. The hosts are really nice and friendly. If I travel to Veliko Tarnovo again, that would be the first place to check for availability.

A Beautiful Birdseye Perch Over Veliko Tărnovo.

Located just a block off the main thoroughfare, Hotel Gurkov offers expansive views of Veliko Tărnovo, basilicas, monuments and the surrounding hills and river valley. The rooms are newly furnished, comfortable, and very clean. Linens were crisp and the WiFi fast and secure. Our room was on the third floor and featured a terrace to survey this lovely former capitol of Bulgaria. Restaurants and shops are an easy three minute walk slightly downhill from the hotel. Our Host was very gracious! She provides an included breakfast buffet in a charming dining room, flooded with light from large windows. There are also two outdoor covered terraces as gathering spaces. A communal refrigerator is located for guests in sitting areas on each floor.

Everything was excellent, but there is no elevator. The newly renovated property sits on a hillside, like most buildings in the city, so there are several flights of steps before guests reach the entrance, and then more steps to their rooms. No problem, unless one has mobility issues.

Great stay

It is located in the city centre close to many restaurants. The apartment was very clean, had an amazing view (from the King suit option with balcony), the bed was really comfortable and it was cosy and warm inside. When we go back to Veliko Tarnovo, we will definitely stay there again.

Very pleased

We spent two weeks, a couple, no car. We intended to eat out so didn't need a kitchen. The location is in the "old" town (1900+) but very close to the historical town. Most museums and well reviewed restaurants are nearby. Also in walking distance - a park (Marno Pole) that's worth seeing, and a supermarket, 10 minutes walk. We only needed transportation for places outside the city, Tsarevets/Trapezitsa, Arbanassi etc. The room was larger than expected, in fact the size of a studio and furnished as one, with bed, cabinet, desks, sofa, ottoman, and coffee table. 2 TV's :), AC keeping the room cool during 40C heat, excellent bathroom. Very clean, very well maintained, very nicely decorated. Shared fridge on the hallway was enough for our needs. The house has two roofed verandas with tables/chairs, partial view. Lots of flowers. No noise in the room from those. The host is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. For example, we had to order a taxi when we left, which was on a Sunday, I really don't know how we would have managed without her help. This aside to the daily gift of croissant + coffee, occasional cake, and general help with the city, recommendations of restaurants etc.

A cosy guesthouse

Excellent location nearby restaurants on the main street; scenic view of the river and the gallery; nicely restored old house, friendly staff; good value for money. There was always tea, coffee and packed croissants every morning.

No wardrobe or a rack with hangers for clothes in our room (the one with the ornate balcony). It would be nice to have somewhere to hang clothes. There is only a small portmanteau by the door.

Exceptional

Everything was good, perfectly cleaned, the bed was comfortable, the host was very welcoming and kind to guide us with advices.

It was not the case for us, but if you have reduced mobility, then this place is definitely not for you. There are many stairs. When you pass the main gate, you have to go up 5-7 stairs and then some more depending on your room. We had at least 25 extra stairs to go up and the bathroom is not walk-in, there’s a bit of an elevation and the bathroom floor is slippery if it’s wet.

Wonderful guesthouse and host

We stayed in a double room with a balcony. Beautiful view of the city from the balcony. Good sized room and very clean. The host is so lovely and helpful. There’s tea, coffee and a croissant in the room daily. The guesthouse is 100m from the Main Street and everything is very accessible. Highly recommended for your stay in Veliko Tarnovo.

The location is great, central, close to city center, restaurants, shops. The room is very spacious and clean. We had a room with balcony, the view above the city is great. The owner is nice, very helpful.

Everything was alright. Don't forget your slippers :) the shower is included in the bathroom wall without any partition.

Nice , clean room, in a good place

chose based on reviews and were not mistaken! very hospitable hostess, good location, clean room, comfortable mattress and pillows, a nice bonus in the form of coffee and croissants, there is a kettle in the room, a terrace with tables and chairs in the yard. Definitely recommend!
