Wonderful experience

Everything was great: communication with the manager, the staff, location close to town center, cleanness, the way the guest house is decorated, the kitchen equipped with all one needs and especially with good coffee offered by the host, free parking right near entrance. I especially want to thank the nice girl who welcomed us and provided us with all the information needed for our stay.

The hosts were nice, friendly and flexible with all of our requests - they even recommended us restaurants to eat at! The room was very clean, the location was quite - 5 minute walk to the city center. Will surely visit again! Thanks;

More than expected

Hosts very kind and nice, private parking, very clean, big room with double bed, two twin beds, sofa and table; also a kitchen area were you can make a coffee, tea (for free), drink something or eat a meal. everything very enjoyable. Good location, close to the center by walk.

The ruined buldings around, which are not their fault. Still, the area was safe and easy to get to the center by walk.

The staff were friendly. Lovely kitchen facilities. Parking was available. Comfortable room.

The location is tricky as you have to walk through a bit of a dilapidated creepy section to come from the main street. I would not as a woman be happy to walk that part alone. It's not far though. I've no idea if it was safe or not.

Good location, just 5 min to city center. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very supportive and provide good advices. There is a common living / kitchen area very comfy and with everything you need. Good parking spots near the location. .

Excellent option to discover Veliko Tarnovo

This guesthouse was simply perfect - walking distance to the city center, welcoming and super helpful staff, spotless and spacious modern rooms, nice common kitchen, parking option. Suitable for families with small children too, baby cot was available and waited us in the room as promised. Price was really reasonable. Definitely recommended.

Very clean, spacious room, very close to the restaurants and old town. We had a good rest and a great time in our way from Romania to Greece. They had a parking space for our car. A friendly lady at reception helped us with everything we needed. Overall a great experience.

Everything was just perfect! The rooms are very spacious, very clean and light. The location is very quiet, the beds are very comfortable and we could get a good rest The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, from big pots to the tiniest teaspoon. There is a big fridge in the kitchen. There are two big tables in the kitchen, 2 sofas, a coffee table, and a TV set. It is located at 10 min walk to the old city centre and also near the modern center of the town. Supermarkets are to be found near the location. Our host gave us a very warm and friendly welcome. We arrived at the location later than we announced and she waited for us. She recommended us where to eat, what to visit and how to get from one tourist attraction to another, in a very good English.

In order to get to the centre and back to the location, you have yo go up and down a couple sets of stairs, but I after a good meal, a bit of exercise does not hurt at all. The only thing that we did not like was that we stayed for only one night. We will definitely come back for a longer stay.

It was all perfect. They welcomed us in the most kind way, the room was pretty clean and with a nice perfume also. No one bothered us, everyone in the hostel was relaxed and happy, with no problem neither bitterness between others. Both the employes and the guests seemed like really nice and wise people. To come back for sure, if I had the time for that!

The Gile Guest House was well positioned to start our exploration of Veliko Tarnovo. The host was friendly and welcomed us even though we arrived on Easter Saturday much later than anticipated (car trouble). The place was easy to find, well marked on the road. The room was huge, could easily fit 6 people and we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well equipped and we made use of the fridge and coffee makers with no issue. Price was excellent for the received accommodation, city was close and there were multiple options to choose from in getting to and from town. Emil was also kind and shared the name of a restaurant we enjoyed and had a great view in. We had a great parking spot as well and could see the car from our room.

I've seen people complain about the location and the abandoned buildings, it's not that bad really. There are plenty of abandoned buildings in Veliko Tarnovo, it's just that many of them aren't nearby. Never felt unsafe or at risk in the area so don't decide to avoid the place based on those reviews.

Very warm and kind people, responsive to all requests, very understanding, room and kitchen very clean and well equipped, easy to reach city old centre via stairways (including good restaurant options - we recommend Shtastliveca), quiet surroundings. For tourist attractions, besides the regular ones (Tsarevts fortress, Asenevsti monument, old center, Sveta Gora park), you may want to go to Mini Bulgaria park and Museum of Illusions (especially if you have kids), and consider short trips to Arbanasi village (great panorama to Veliko, during the day and also at night) and to Hotnitsa waterfall and canyon. Also, if you can stay longer outside at night (we couldn't because of young children), you may also enjoy the "Sound and Light" show at Tsarevts: https://www.soundandlight.bg/en/ - I see that in December are even scheduled a series of FREE shows. You should be warned that the stairs downtown are quite long and the way back uphill may pose some difficulty if you are not a regular walker (but this is really the case in all Veliko Tarnovo (being set on hills), and I wouldn't see this as a downside, but rather as a benefit for the health.

The room is heated only via air-conditioning; parking a bit problematic in case there are many tourists lodged.

Gile House - one of the best location in town

always glad to book at Gile House, where Emil & Lili are the best staff from entire Veliko. I highly recommend Gile House for the staff, cleanliness (I have not seen such a cleanliness in 3 or 4 stars hotels) and location.

time run to fast when i'm visiting Veliko. Some poeple have no manners and make a lot of noise in the morning or in the middle of the day. You can't speak on phone "on speaker" on a hallway, when you know there are more guests in the house. You can't let a small child to cry and do nothing about it. Well, all this tell something about the guests and you can do nothing about it. The staff also, can't educate it every guest they have.

Very friendly staff! The property is in a quiet location, very close to the city center and has free parking. There is something like a shared kitchen, which could be useful.

May be the doors are not very well isolated, so you here everything from the corridor, not a problem for me though.
