Much better than big hotel chains

The hotel is privately owned and has a lot of cachet. It consists of two buildings, an older one (chalet) on the main street and a newer one behind it. We had a room in the former, with a balcony and a perfect view of the Eiger mountain. Although it was on the main street, the room was very quiet. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke many languages (German, French, English, Japanese, etc.). Excellent breakfast buffet with local products.

Fantastic stay at centrally located Gasthof Alte Post! Comfortable and Clean; Thoughtful and Kind!!

Anna and her team are the epitome of hospitality! warm and inviting, they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and comfortable! The location is excellent—right on a major bus line that goes directly to the train station. The room was large and comfortable with room to move around. The breakfast is delicious and bountiful but the people who work there are the best amenity!

The only issue were the flies; but this is not particular to Gaston Alte Post. They were EVERYWHERE in Grindelwald and surrounds and there are no screens on windows and doors so fighting off flies while trying to have breakfast was definitely not appealing.

The location was amazing, the spa was a lovely surprise and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. They really went over and above to provide an excellent service. I would highly recommend Alte Post to anyone looking to stay in Grindelwald.

Exceptional

This hotel is the perfect place if you are looking for some days off in Grindelwald. The hotel’s staff is very warm, flexible, kind and helpful, breakfast is very complete, delicious and included. Wellness facilities are amazing and included in the rate as well. For skiers/snowboarders: Great connections to Grindelwald Terminal (15 min from the bus station in front of the hotel) and Grindelwald First (1 minute walk from the hotel). I am looking forward to my next stay at this wonderful hotel in such a magic town.

Hotel accueillant et très bien situé.

Etablissement très bien situé, avec parking en prime ! Excellent petit déjeuner. Très belle vue depuis notre chambre. Rangements nombreux et fonctionnels dans la chambre. L'accueil cordial du personnel.

On aurait apprécié plus de fruits frais au petit déjeuner.

Tre giorni a Grindelwald

La struttura era congruente al prezzo pagato (con un "upgrade" si poteva passare allo chalet, situato di fronte). La posizione è molto comoda, soprattutto per la funivia First e per la stazione. Il ristorante situato sotto la camera è buono. Il bagno è pulito. Il parcheggio è incluso e comodo.

L'arredamento della camera è un po' "old style" e poco insonorizzata, ma questo ci può stare con un gasthof. La colazione viene servita nello chalet di fronte (bisogna uscire). Nel complesso comunque tutto bene!

Grindelwald er fantastisk. Hotellet ligger rigtig godt lige midt i det hele.

Morgenmad var godt, masser af special ost og brød. Badeværelset var fint.

Værelset var virkelig dårlig. Sengen var gamle springmadrasser som man fik ondt i ryggen af at sove på. Altanen var rådden og fuld af ukrudt. Det lugtede både på gangen og på værelset.
