Everything was unreal! When we arrived exhausted after hours of travelling our room key and details were all laid out on the desk ready for us to head straight up. The rooms view was unbelievable and much appreciated. The breakfast was perfect and staff friendly and helpful. Couldn’t fault anything.

The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The rooms were small, but clean, cute, and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. The view from the terrace was amazing. I'll definitely come back.

There's no doubt about it, the location and view of the mountains from our apartment was exceptional and that is what we paid for. I'm fairly sure that some of the rooms had been upgraded, but not our room. The bathroom door was frosted, heavy and so noisy that you had to hang on to it to open and close it. But it didn't end there...there was zero water pressure and very cold water. I had to take a bath instead of a shower so that I could get some lukewarm water to sit in. This was changed after I complained about it...and then it was scalding hot. The room needs major upgrading. I noticed that the apartment next to us had carpet on the floor which this place absolutely needed. And super tiny. I didn't even bother unpacking my suitcase even though we were scheduled to stay for 5 nights. We ended up leaving a day early. Please note that most of the places in Grindelwald will have a good view of the Eiger if they are on the side facing the mountains...you don't need to climb a hill to get that view. On the positive side...Carolina and staff...they were wonderful! The breakfast was excellent. I can't say enough good things about how efficient, helpful and kind they were. I would return if Carolina and her coworkers were there, but I'd ask for a different room.

First the main picture of a beautiful lake and mountain view is not from or near the hotel. The hotel is located on top of a hill without direct car access. Need to park and then hike 30 degree uphill for 5 minutes to reach the door. One of the heater missing control knob but fixed the following day. There are sharp edge at bed and easy to get hurt in this tight room. The toilet bowl is right next to the shower drain pan that the corner of the drain pan make it uncomfortable to sit down. It is hard to describe though. The breakfast staff is nice and friendly. But the location and property do noy justiy the cost.

Lovely hotel. Great staff and breakfast and fantastic view of mountains. Just know that the 15 min walk from rail station is up the side of a steep mountain and it’s a car free area so no taxi and no hotel transport. Travel light.

My fantastic experience staying here – like many of the hotels, though in Grindelwald, there is a bit of a climb up the hill to get to the hotel. The hotel itself is well run and has excellent facilities. Very highly recommended.

We only stayed one night and it was perfect! Our key was waiting at the front desk, lovely room, good size, comfortable and with a balcony and view! Breakfast starts at 7:30, and it was perfect too, with a lovely view! Fresh bread, trouts, local cheeses and meats! A wonderful stay at a chalet! We drove, there’s a small parking and then you need to walk a little uphill with the bags to reach the hotel. Totally worth it!

The staff at Sonnenberg are so friendly and helpful. The room was a little cramped but the shared cozy space including deck with fantastic views helped! Breakfast was delicious and the location while up a steep hill, was a welcome quiet change from the busy crowded town. Highly recommend this place because of the staff and homey feel.

Very friendly hotel staff, despite the high slope, the amazing Iger north wall view from the room is the best quality of this hotel. However, it is a bit of a shame that the shower situation in the room is not good.

The property has a great location and incredible views! The only thing to keep in mind is that it is that there is a steep walk to the hotel from the train station and if you have heavy luggage, then it takes some cardio strength to carry it to the hotel. But once to reach there, it is worth it. The hotel is quite nice, staff is very friendly and helpful and the views of the Grindelwald valley from the hotel are amazing!

This hotel has a spectacular view of The Eiger since itnis at the top of the hill. It is not walking distance to the train station and the Grindelwald First. The staff, especially, George is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included

You have to make this your stay for your Grindelwald trip!! The coziest hotel with the sweetest owners and most breathtaking views. It was the perfect location, only a 7 min walk from the train station, but up on the hill enough so it felt more peaceful and serene than the main street of town. I only stayed two nights, but they came and freshened up my room anyway during the day, changed the bed/towels etc. complimentary breakfast that included a buffet spread, made to order eggs, and all sorts of coffee. Little details in the lobby and room just provided a sense of home and comfort. Beautiful yard with lounge chairs that overlooks the mountains and town. Only 1 small hill to get up, but absolutely doable even with luggage. And it’s so worth it!! Truly felt like a dream staying here.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Sonnenberg! Our room in the chalet building was gorgeous with an incredible balcony and view of Grindelwald and the alps! The hotel is just up the hill from the train station which makes the walk up worth it to get a view better than any hotel in the valley! Breakfast was excellent with fresh bread and pastries baked right there in Grindelwald! The staff were lovely and George even coordinated a bottle of Champagne in our room to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Couldn’t recommend more!

Very pleasant hotel with excellent views. The complimentary breakfast has many delicious choices, and the staff were always cheerful and accommodating. Very comfortable and relaxing sitting area next to the breakfast room. The only downside is that there is a steep climb from the parking area to the hotel. The staff, however, were very helpful transporting luggage to and fro. Altogether a wonder stay.

The way to the hotel from their parking lot is a difficult climb for seniors. No elevator to use from the reception to the rooms! It has good view of the mountain.

This small hotel is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed. I have to admit, the steep walk to the hotel will make you rethink your fitness level ... but ... the view from our room was simply to die for! The owners (a very nice couple) not only upgraded our room for no particular reason, they also provided us with information on nearby attractions. The room was clean and roomy. Breakfast was included and was also fabulous. Great variety and extremely delicious. I would give this hotel my highest recommendation.

Fantastic stay with perfect view. Wasnt expecting much. Would like to give a thumbs up to the receptionist who has been kind and always checking in to see if i need anything else! Will come back to this hotel when i return to switz.
