Sunray Homestay

Great homestay, short walk (but lots of steps) to get to train track to walk into town. Good, filling variety of breakfasts. Lovely views, lovely family. We loved Ella.

The view is sensational. Didn't know what I was getting into when I booked this place and my jaw dropped when I pulled up. The view of Ella Rock and a waterfall are stunning. And visible from your room and balcony. The breakfast was simple yet very filling and delicious. The family was very friendly and helpful, most specifically the young man who cleans the rooms and handles the breakfast. Despite no AC, I was perfectly comfortable with the fan - often didn't even need it (February). The bed was comfortable and got my best nights sleep of the trip here. I rented a scooter in house and did laundry as well.

Since this is a family friendly place, there were LOTS of small children around. This meant additional noise and at times, breakfast was rather disruptive. Despite 3 available networks, the wifi in the room was not good. The owner consistently was trying to wheel and deal... a taxi ride, a tour, something. Just chill, let me come to you if I need something.

Great View , all you need in the room, value for money with a big breakfast and excellent service from Tushara , the all in one guy .

This was very much a friendly home stay experience. The view was great. We stayed in a Double Room with Mountain View that opened up onto the "main level" where breakfast is served. It was nice to have the large patio area, but it did mean less privacy. Big windows so lots of light can come in. Family and staff very friendly. Short walk into Ella (busy road uphill though with not much space to walk), and very close access to the hiking path up the mountain. Bathroom was large and shower had hot water with good pressure. If you're a backpacker type traveler I think you would enjoy this place a lot.

The room is basic - there is a kettle and small fridge which was nice! There were a lot of ants in our room. For some reason the water in the bathroom had a bad smell in the morning. Our room did not have an AC - but with fan it was fine. I think other times of year it might get a bit too hot during the day because the big windows do let in a lot of sun.
