GAIA ELLA Ecolodge and Yoga Centre

Great location with amazing views & easy walking distance to town. Nice to have some easy food options available. The room felt spacious and everyone who works there was helpful & friendly.

Unfortunately the bathroom smelt a little damp & musty, which affected my sleep. Very nice to have hot water though!

Loved everything - the outdoor space is exceptional, hammocks to read in, amazing views, great yoga space very calm energy everywhere

Worth coming to this hostel for the view alone - it is unmatched! The activities on offer at the hostel really made our stay - cooking authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with Mr Garlic and evening yoga and sound bath with the view over Ella. The hostel also helped us with recommendations for outside the hostel like meditation at the monastery and the tea factory, and sorted us tuk tuks. Would recommend star gazing at night too! The staff were very attentive throughout our stay - keeping us well fed with top notch food and providing a laundry service too. Thank you!

This place has amazing views but I did feel a little misled by the reviews and description. The steps up are very steep and uneven, and there's not handrails for a lot of it. It's fine if you're relatively active and the view is absolutely incredible. The breakfast was amazing here - huge bowl of fruit, dosa and maybe the best overnight oats I've had.

There was also no hot water in the evening as it's run on solar panels (we tried it at around 6:30pm). We got woken up quite early by shouting outside our room. Our room was very stark and basic, which was fine for what we needed but we couldn't close the windows as the latches were broken so mosquitos could get in.
