10/10 Amazing stay in Sidemen!

Embang Homestay exceeded all our expectations. My fiancé and I are doing a 1 month long trip across Indonesia and wanted to stay in Sidemen for 2 nights before heading to Penida. From the moment we arrived, Ayu was there to greet us, show us to our room, provided us with a welcome drink and treats, gave us all the information we needed and made sure we were comfortable. Our bedroom was extremely comfortable, had mosquito nets, the shower had hot water and was so beautifully designed, the bed was clean and crisp, and the views - wow! We didn't need to use the fan as it was a good temperature to sleep without it. At night, a chorus of all the rice paddy frogs and critters came alive but it was a joy to listen to and fall asleep to - if anyone is sensitive to noise, then maybe get earbuds just in case. We chose to get massages at the Embang spa - and this was amazing. The breakfast everyday was delicious, and so were the dinners. We went on a fishing trip in Padangbai for one of the mornings and came back with a bucket of fresh fish, and Ayu was so kind enough to cook it for us for dinner and make a whole meal out of it - which is obviously not the kind of meals she'd typically have on the menu nor cook, her kindness surpasses any local we've met on our trip thus far. She also helped book us private taxis to/from Padangbai. The old dog Momo/Mumu was so cute too! I would highly recommend Embang Homestay to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway in Sidemen! 10/10 Cannot recommend it enough. Thank you, Ayu, for everything!!

Peaceful and gorgeous views

The room was right in front of the rice fields, which made it so peaceful to wake up and relax. At night we even had visits from cute animals like frogs, and we got to see fireflies flying around too. The staff were incredibly kind, gentle, and always attentive.

Perfect place to relax and chill.

Embang is a real gem of a place! Ayu is a great host, as are her family and it really does have a family feel, in all the right ways. The room is spacious, the view is spectacular, the bed is large and comfy and there’s a double veranda as well. The bathroom is very cute and semi open. There’s a huge bottle of water for guests to help themselves. The breakfast is a perfect way to start your day and there’s a great warung on site for lunch/dinner. The cherry on the cake for us was the massages that Ayu arranges for you. There is a little hut nestled in the fields, just a short stroll from your room, which is the perfect spot for relaxing. All good and value for money doesn’t even cover it. Embang was recommended to us and I’m so glad that it was!

We had the most amazing time! Everything was incredible, the staff, the location and the rooms with the most beautiful view of Sideman and the surround members. Every staff member was helpful and welcoming and Ayu really went the extra mile making us breakfast for the road when we had to check out early in the morning to make our ferry. It would be a pleasure to stay here again and we recommend to everyone!

Relaxing stay for a few days

We had a nice stay at Embang Homestay. The views from the property are incredible, looking out over the rice fields. The homestay also offers massages on-site in a little hut down at the bottom of the garden, which was very relaxing. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Our room smelt a little musty and there is no air conditioning, only a fan which was very loud during the night. We also arranged a taxi through the property to our next stop but unfortunately on walking through the town found that we could have booked it cheaper ourselves, which was disappointing as they made a point of saying they ensure you get a good price.

Beautiful property with an amazing view over the rice terraces. When we arrive, we were provided a welcome meal of sugarcane filled pancakes and fruit,. It’s a family run business with the kindest staff.

Nothing really. It exceeded our expectations. There were minimal issues with ants and a hornet, but you are in nature so expect critters.

Lovely simple living with a gorgeous view!

Lovely simple stand-alone brick hut. Fabulous view of the mountain and rice fields. Comfortable bed with effective mosquito net. Fan cooled only but enough to stay comfortable as it’s cooler up in the hills. Good breakfast with a nice large pot of coffee. Even a lovely afternoon tea that we weren’t expecting. Enjoyed several massages in the bale in the middle of the rice paddies with trickling water and a cool breeze. Large drinking water bottle supplied in room. Will definitely return!

There’s a step down into the area before the bathroom, big enough to be a trip hazard and caught us both several times. Hati hati! Balcony table could be bigger then two could fit their breakfast on it. From arrival around 2pm until late into that night was terrible loud music coming up the valley, not Embang fault but spoilt the vibe somewhat.

Highly recommend

wow, what a place! the views are incredible from every room. The biggest shoutout to the staff though, they go above and beyond. Thanks Ayu and the team for taking care of us. They are very generous with breakfast and even have some afternoon tea for you during the day. The bed is comfy and has a net to protect you from animals. There is a gap between the roof and the walls so you will see lizards and some other small critters like ants. However, it didn't take away from the experience itself. Definitely recommend to hire a scooter here.

We weren't the biggest fan of the restaurant but that actually goes for all the food places we explored in this region. Laundry is a bit more expensive than everywhere else and not our favourite. Small things and definitely just our preference :)

Peaceful and perfect!

We stayed for a week and felt so much at home here. Ayu and all the staff were kind and lovely hosts, looking after us so well with little treats every day. The location is amazing with such a peaceful view - you can’t help but feel relaxed and the room itself was stunning. The staff can organize anything you need at good prices - we also recommend the massage with Komang! We ate in the onsite restaurant most of the time simply because the food was good and the prices too. Breakfast was also great with plenty of choices. If we return to Sideman again, this will be definitely be our first choice.

Spectacular views, service, location. Comfort and genuine lovely hospitality. Utterly worth a visit

Stepped into my room and was so blown away (a good thing!) by the view... spectacular. The room was big, light, clean, comfortable with everything I needed. A separate room with a cupboard for clothe and a bit bathroom with a really fabulous shower (great pressure and choice of Shower head)... All up, it was really lovely to be there. The grounds are kept beautifully, the breakfast was delicious, I had afternoon tea as a bonus... didn't have to ask and the wonderful staff — the lovely owner Ratna Gero and her husband, Gusti, made me feel very much at home. Noticed a flat tyre on day two and within minutes, another of the terrific staff members, Ayu, had phoned the local mechanic to come and help... he was outstanding... so helpful, resourceful, and quick. It wasn't a long stay in days, but memorable for the really warm atmosphere; sense of open hospitality... and the surrounding area is truly beautiful. I'll be back!

Charming Homestay in a beautiful location.

This place is ideal if you want to relax far away from the tourist masses in the more well known parts of Bali. Our room had a lovely view of the mountains and the lack of air conditioning wasn't a problem because the climate in Sidemen is a few degrees cooler than the coat.

Perfect !!

I had such an amazing stay in Embang Homestay! This the most beautiful accomodation I've stayed in so far (especially considering the value for money!), it's very clean, the bed is super comfy, and most of all the view on the rice fields is gorgeous! The Hosts are incredibly nice and make everything they can to give you the best experience (they bring the breakfast to your room if you want to, bring you complimentary pastries and drinks, clean the room everyday, and of course arrange massages, guide tours etc. if you need to). If you're coming to Sidemen, this is the place to stay!!

Wonderful Sidemen Experience at Embang

The location was incredible and the view from our room was stunning. You wake up to the mountain rising in front of you and paddy fields leading out from underneath your balcony. The entire area is quiet and very peaceful but has plenty of cozy little cafes and restaurants. It is essentially a village atmosphere. The bedroom was very comfortable and had most of the amenities one could need. There was plenty of space, which included our own balcony and small dining area. The toilet is large and has an open ceiling in the showering area. Ayu and the rest of the staff at Embang were wonderful and took excellent care of us. We would recommend trying out the Anandinii Organic Farm at the end of the road as one of your activities during your stay and also the teas and coffee from Warung Amrita just a short walk from Embang in the other direction. The sun rises behind the homestay and when it hits the mountain and paddy fields, the scenery is gorgeous and well worth an early morning wakeup to snap some photos if you're into that.

The hot water in our shower seemed to run out pretty quickly, after a couple of minutes of turning on the shower. This was not too much of an issue to me as I'm used to taking cold showers, but my wife did not particularly enjoy it. May be this issue was restricted to our unit. The one other thing (very minor) was that the lighting in our room/bungalow was not very good. This, again, was not a deal breaker for us, but worth pointing out.

Great location, amazing hosts, and lovely stay overall! We really enjoyed staying at this homestay, they took great care of us! Also the view from the room is amazing! On our final day we had to leave very early, so the owners made sure that we had a breakfast box ready in our room so that we did not have to travel with an empty stomach. They were so super friendly and nice! A real recommendation when staying in Sidemen!😁

Exceptional

My partner and I stayed 2 nights in this small but very cozy accommodation. We got an amazing and big room (with private bathroom) facing the rice terraces and with the sound of the river as background. The room looked exactly like the pictures on the web. The pro of this place is the stuff. They have been incredibly kind and welcoming. They also prepared for us breakfast in advance because we were starting one trip at 6am in the morning :) Breakfast is homemade and extremely good. They also have a warung where we had dinner for 2 night in a raw 😅 In conclusion the best place we have been in our 15 days trip in Bali. Highly recommended!

Stunning views in a cosy homestay

The view from the room is stunning. Bed is comfy enough, it wasn't hot without aircon because it was raining when I was there. Insects flew in but the bed netting kept them out. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast nasi goreng is delicious! Would definitely return :)

The open air bathroom was not a good idea during big rain haha but its a small issue no problem.
