Absolutely gorgeous, will 100% be back

Lovely room with SUPER comfortable bed and very spacious, especially considering the value for money. The little deck/veranda area was so peaceful and with great views. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The owner Ari was very accommodating and offered good value taxi service and support booking activities (highly recommend the rafting for 2+ hours of bliss in nature along the river). We will definitely be back.

Peaceful and value for many.

Peaceful location and value for money. If you like nature sounds, this is it. I’m very sensitive to road noise and you barely hear some minimal traffic noise. Ari and his family are super sweet. The breakfast is superb. Room was súper clean. I’d stay again for sure.

Lovely hosts, but needs improvement

The hosts at Maha Neka were the loveliest people - very thoughtful and went above and beyond eg. Taking our shoes in when it started raining. The room was big and spacious and the bed was fairly comfortable. We loved the veranda - it was spacious and had amazing views. The location is perfect, very near lots of warungs and a nice walk to the rice terraces. Breakfast was very nice.

WiFi was virtually non existent, no matter where we were on the property. We got asked to switch rooms a few days into our stay which meant we wasted an entire morning having to repack. Apparently we weren’t in the room we booked at the start, which I accept, but why were we not?? The rooms are open air, meaning anything can get in (see photo). The lack of air con was difficult and the fan didn’t get through the mosquito net which led to some sleepless nights. The rooms weren’t particularly clean - they were only clean ‘on the surface’. There was thick dust and dirt everywhere and they were thoroughly in need of a deep clean. There was not enough hot water in the showers!! My partner and I could not shower back to back because one of them would be cold!

great stay!! really good value — very clean rooms, great breakfast, great mosquito net, and hosts are very kind. ari really made an effort to get to know us and even drove us to our next destination!😊

one thing to note is that the room is open air, meaning that some bugs and critters can get in. however, we barely saw any bugs and didn’t have any problems!

Sidemen's Hidden Gem

Maha Neka is a little gem in beautiful Sidemen. The bungalow is beautifully furnished, incredibly comfortable and with a gorgeous view of Mount Agung. Apart from being outrageously good value for money (definitely get breakfast included), what sets it apart is the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the hosts, Ari and Ayu. They made us feel so at home and went above and beyond to take care of us. We were sad to leave and we'll definitely be back!

Homey stay in Sidemen

We really enjoyed our stay at Maha Neka. The place and facilities are very basic, but it was all we needed. The views from the terrace are fantastic and the people running this place are so lovely. We were able to rent a scooter directly from them. The location is really good, close to great warungs and cafes, but you’ll need a scooter to get around Sidemen and other areas. Note that the villa has some permanently open holes in the walls (for ventilation, I assume), which means some geckos and bugs will inevitably make their way in. The sound of the surrounding nature was also quite loud during the night - personally, I didn’t mind and slept really well, but my partner had to use ear plugs.

beautiful and very nice atmosphere

the view was beautiful and the room have mosquito nets. the man and his family running it are so friendly and kind. My boyfriend was I’ll and they were kind to let us check out late, and gave him some oils to help. they arranged a taxi for us as we couldn’t use grab and helped us carry our things. service there is exceptional and very kind people.

the only downs were that the room was a little dark and no ac meant the room got quite warm

Amazing local host with gorgeous views of the area from the balcony and tasty food

Ari and his family are the most welcoming and lovely hosts. They went above and beyond to help us with treks and transport. The room is a nice space with a great shower and lovey view of Mount Agung from the balcony. The food was incredible and we ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ari is very knowledgeable about the Sidemen region and having him to help us was a wonderful and personal experience. He is also great with kids! Really good value for money, we would stay here again!

The room was great and the fact that it is a separate small villa is a plus for privacy. Great view. Good breakfast. The bathroom was large, clean and the water pressure was good (those who spent time in Bali know this is not a given here). The warung has great food. The owners are really helpful. Definitely a place to return to.

The wi-fi was moody, so if you need to work online better have a solid mobile data plan.

We had a good time in Sidemen. We rented two scooters from Maha Neka homestay and it was really fun going around the rice terraces. The two little houses we had was also perfect. The view facing the mountains and farm fields are just gorgeous.
