Bad treatment

Nice cabana.

I had a bad experience because when I arrived, settled in, and found an ant nest on the bed, I shook them off, but they reappeared shortly after. There were so many of them! I told the girl, and she kindly came over with a broom and dustpan and some bug spray (which she sprayed on the sheets). I told her that it was toxic and I'd prefer not to use it on the bed. The ants came back, so I went to tell the owner, and he said that if I wanted another room, I would have to pay more since it was a superior room. I told him no, since I booked this one because it was all I could afford. He said I could cancel, and I said okay. He immediately started taking my things out of the room without me having packed my bags—open bag, things in the bathroom—basically kicking me out. I thought the treatment was terrible because the situation wasn't my fault, and on top of that, I had to find other accommodation in a remote place. Zero consideration for travelers. So, a really bad experience.

We had a wonderful stay! The accommodation is very well equipped, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Everything was perfectly organized, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

Given the location in the middle of nature, it’s good to be aware that insects – especially ants – can sometimes find their way into the room.

Comfortable, clean and would 10/10 recommend!

For travellers on a budget, we really hit the jackpot with this place! Loka Amertha was listed at a cheap price, but there was no compromise on comfort or cleanliness :-) Furthermore, the staff went out of their way to accommodate and help us whenever possible. Loved the activities they offered like the Balinese cooking class too. Would definitely book again if coming back to Sidemen!

Great stay in a peaceful and quiet place, with a beautiful view on garden and very kind staff

Staff is extremely kind, trying to accomodate everything for you. Peaceful stay away from the noise - next to a river and hidden in trees. Great breakfast. Beautiful room and bathroom, spacious and clean. Tea and coffee available with a kettle and mini fridge. Beautiful view from the bed on the garden.

Family charm lovely guest house next to rice feelds

Family owned guest house. Looks even more beautiful than on the pictures. Lovely cottages. Big bathroom. A nice breakfast and friendly staff willing to help with all sorts of questions: from small things to organising rafting. Walking distance from the Sidemen rice walk. Some nice resturants close by. Very green surroundings.

Great place in winter.

Staff were nice, views were amazing, place was very clean. Breakfast was good and they accommodated gluten free requests which was very kind of them. They organised taxis at very reasonable costs (we cross checked with other providers).

a) No ACs. The fans provided did not do much when the mosquito nets were down. Made it very hot and stuffy in the night, especially as they provided duvets b) Lack of plug points in the room - there is only one plug point near the bed- either the bedside lamp or the phone charger - you choose. The other plug point was for fridge and kettle and fan. However, on one room, the kettle had to be switched on below the study table (crawl below the table, plug in and switch on). c) Dogs - the property has 2 pet dogs however, these are not properly tamed and the night staff are not able to control them well. They came barking at us quite badly and were snapping at my daughter and also the staff when we returned in the night. We messaged the property about this, and though the same thing happened the next night, they had added another staff who was better able to handle the dogs though it was not an ideal situation.

Lovely Homestay with lovely family

We stayed at the loka amertha for 4 nights and even extended our stay as we absolutely loved it. The homestay itself is surrounded by nature and the rooms are clean and beautiful. Dodi, his cousin and his wife make sure that it's a really pleasant experience. They are all such happy and welcoming people. We also took a silversmith class, which Dodi organized for us, and a cooking class with Dodi and Nga. Both of them were so much fun. The cooking class is in the traditional kitchen of the house and Dodi explained a lot about the balinese culture, religion and way of live. We really loved the homestay and especially the great people leading it. We definitely recommend it and would come back here anytime

Great stay and activities in Sidemen

The staff is amazing, helpful and very kind. They offer a variety of activities, such as rice fields trekking or cooking class. We highly recommend both activities. We took a 3-hour trekking in the rice fields. You can also opt for a different duration. The cooking class included all the ingredients, cooking in Balinese traditional style, with lots of food to enjoy by the end of it! Delicious and well-prepared, it is an unmissable experience if you come to Loka Amertha. Also, the property is surrounded by nature with a river nearby.

Perfect accommodation in Sidemen

Situated a few minutes from the heart of Sidemen village, you ride through beautiful Rice terraces before you get here. The accommodation is a standalone villa next to 2 others. It was extremely clean. The staff were really nice and it was at a great price. Will definitely stay here again.

We LOVED our stay at Loka Amertha. The bed is amazing, the room is extremely clean and the bathroom very beautiful. Not to mention that everybody was beyond friendly, the breakfast amazing and that there's drinking water available. They can arrange a guided walking tour if you're interested, which we really enjoyed! For Sidemen in general, it's easy if you have a scooter, but even without a scooter it's a good location. You have multiple very nice Warungs closeby and you're only seconds away from the ricefields. Can't recommend enough!

Very good

The room is simple but to be expected for this price. The staff was very kind! The cooking class was the highlight of our stay (see picture), highly recommended! You can easily book a scooter with them and they helped us with arranging drivers. We wanted to do a tour through the rice terrace, the owner (Dody) was not available himself but he arranged someone else to do it with us and that was also very nice! The surroundings are very quiet.

We had some frogs in the room, but that’s was to be expected when you are in the middle of the nature.

This accomodation was everything we hoped for. Very beautiful natural setting next to the river. There was resturants near by and main sideman tourist area was 1 km interesting walk which we enjoyed. Very close to the rice fields trek. The bed and pillows were high quality the bathroom was lovely and there was every comfort considered. We enjoyed our balcony looking into rainforest and birds. Breakfast was nice cooked in front of us by friendly staff thanks for a great stay Highly recommend this place

Very nice stay in Sidemen

I had a very nice stay for 5 nights at Loka Amertha. The room is clean and comfortable. I thought I might be too hot at night without AC but actually it was fine with the fan. The bed is big with lots of pillows and there is a big jug of water in the room which is really nice to have. I enjoyed that the location is tucked away from the road. I was able to rent a motorbike from Dodi and also greatly appreciated when I was allowed to take a quick shower after my hike up Agung, even though it was past my check-out time. Sidemen is so beautiful and I really loved exploring this part of Bali!

No complaints, just a suggest/idea to add a kettle for making tea/coffee in the room.

Delightful experience in the heart of nature!

The place is absolutely amazing, Sidemen itself is a very nice area, and Loka Amertha it's in avery good position, you have to enter a small and quiet road and get to this beautiful and so natural garden , where the rooms are located. The room is very spacious, with nice and well kept furniture, there is a mosquito net just in case, the bathroom is huge and super clean, provided with everything. Outside a small patio with chair and table, overlooking the beautiful garden. It was a pleasure to sleep in the quiet of nature. I also appreciate having drinking water provided from the hotel, but in glass bottles, avoiding the use of plastic!

Everything! Doddy is an amazing host. He and his family are so friendly and accomodating. It is super quiet and peaceful staying here and is nearby the river. There is only 2 rooms on the property so you really feel special. AND there are two cheeky but friendly dogs, heaven! The room is super beautiful and comfortable and doddy cooks you up a fresh breakfast every morning.

Your own little house in a an amazing jungle garden. Room beautifully furnished, amazing shower room. So peaceful. And Momo and Mimi, the two dogs are gorgeous Owner Dodi is super lovely.

Staying here was a definite highlight of our trip to Bali. The cabin is set within the forest and very peaceful and a great place to chill and relax. The interior is tastefully decorated - especially the bathroom. Breakfast is very good. Best of all, we enjoyed the kind hospitality of our host Dody and his family. We learnt a lot about Sideman and Balinese culture from Dody. We took some tours with Dody through the rice fields and to the local artisans and to the waterfall. These were good value, fun and educational. All in all, our time in Sideman was enjoyable and memorable and this was in large part because we stayed at Loka Amertha.

Perfect accomodation in the center of rice fields

Everything was perfect! Loka Amertha is a little bit outside of Sidemen but this makes it even more beautiful. You will sleep inside of a beautiful garden, where nearly all the fruits for your breakfast fruit salad are growing. Only 1 min away start the beautiful rice fields, where you can have lunch while enjoying the view. 5 min further and you will be left breathtaking with the scenery. Loka Amertha will provide you with a breakfast (including pancake or eggs any kind as well as a fruit salad and coffee or tea), a king size bed (so freaking comfy!), 2l of water per day, a clean bathroom (warm water and good water preassure of the shower) and a wonderful terrace where you can enjoy the most beautiful butterflies surrounding you. The Wifi is fast and stable and you can rent a scooter from the owner. Keep in mind: You will experience an almost tourist free stay, which means you can enjoy balinese way of life at first hand. You will need a scooter and prepare yourself to eat local food (only a few western restaurants). Loka Amertha is a wonderful residence and you wonˋt regret staying here even 1 second. Everything is as pictured.

Lovely stay in brand new bungalow

Beautiful, recently constructed bungalow, located off the beaten track, in the midst of beautiful Sidemen and a minute or two by scooter to town. The comfy bed, clean accommodation and the friendly host characterise this property.
