Great stay in Cape Town

Absolutely beautiful property in the hip Gardens part of Cape Town, slightly upwards from CBD towards the Table Mountain. Great, ultrafriendly hosts and staff, in particular Ellen. Very comfy cottage, beautiful garden, awimming pool and opportunity to make your own pizza in the garden oven. Not to forget the dog Snuifel with whom my daughter made big friends. Close to Kloof Street full of restaurants, cafes and bars. Great place to stay in Cape Town!

All was great. Maybe the bed could be a bit longer for me as i’m 191 cm tall. ;)

It was an amazing house, everything looked amazing and was perfectly located. The staff and hosts were super nice as well, it was the perfect start of our trip to South Africa

Amazing property in the middle of cape town!

Doreen, Ellen and the rest of the staff gave us a very warm welcome to Cape Town. Although we spent most of our time exploring Cape Town and it's surroundings, the location and room was a lovely retreat right in the buzzing city center. We enjoyed the cleanliness and privacy of the room. It had everything we needed to arrange our own breakfast and easy dinner. The cottages are located on private property and we also enjoyed playing around in the garden and the pool. Lastly we had breakfast once which was excellent!

The bedroom of our room was right next to the road so you could hear traffic quite badly. Also from the photos on booking.com it looks like the room (2-bedroom cottage) is adjacent to the pool, but it is on a different part of the property with less view

A wonderful place in all respects from which to explore the delights of Cape Town

This is a charming oasis in the Gardens neighbourhood, close to excellent restaurants on Kloof St and a short Uber ride to the V&A Waterfront and Central Business District. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful - from delightful owner Doreen to all the wonderful staff (with special mention to Robert’s delicious pizza!). Cannot recommend highly enough. We LOVED our five days staying in Olive’s Cottage.

Noise from the road next to the studio

Disappointing stay

The host Doreen welcomed us in a superbly friendly manner and to our surprise there was a nice bit of cheese, baguette and some cold meats awaiting us. The property is close to the CBD and situated close to a road leading directly into town. The bedding was good and all was clean.

We are not sure what happened, Doreen indicated that she only had this one room left when we booked. The room was less than basic and did not meet our expectations at all, especially considering the cost. We did mention our unhappiness to Doreen, who advised that other rooms she has are much better. We can only write on our personal experience. The bed was at floor level, essentially matrasses on a wooden board (bedding was nevertheless comfy and clean). The toilet was literally less than 2 meters away from the bed. The toilet door had no handle and would also not close. The dining area consisted of a table maybe 60 x 60 cm, with two plastic chairs - very minute. The kitchen consists of cupboards (on wheels), the sink / basin was a fold-up camping basin, there was no toaster, microwave etc as advertised. There was no air-conditioning as advertised, but a normal fan standing on the floor. There was no mosquito net as advertised, nor was there any gauze in front of the windows to keep them out. A ceiling fan is installed, but made so much noise when operating that we switched it off again. The lounge area consisted of a couch only, on the side of the room. There was no parking available, we should probably have reserved but the place was fully booked anyway. The noise emanating from the close-by street was irritating (we could not close the window due to the heat). Stairs on the property had no handrail, some were steep making it difficult to maneuver luggage up and down. Flooring consisted of a concrete floor.

A pleasant stay at a good location

a super friendly and helpful host! the house in general is full of hospitality. they prepared a cheese and fruit plate for us at the check-in. the house is conveniently located and there are many coffeeshops and restaurants in a walking distance.

The room doesn't have an A/C, and the fan didn't work at night because of the problems with electricity in the city.

Beautiful bright apartment!

Lovely studio apartment with lots of windows and views of table mountain! Beautiful surrounding garden well maintained, fresh herbs and flowers .. and cute friendly cats .. had a homey feeling. Doreen was lovely to meet us when we arrived at midnight with some local snacks and wine :) and easy to communicate with them when we had any questions. She also informed us South Africa has load shedding (no electricity) at particular times and they accommodated with lighting up pathways and flash lights in the room. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Lovely accommodation for couples and family’s

Lovely accommodation, in a lively area but very silent. hosts Doreen and her husband were there to give tips and to help us settle. Robbert the manager made great pizza in the stone oven on the terrace. We stayed in the Olive Cottage and everything we needed was there. great bed!

Heerlijk verblijf met twee kleine kinderen.

De locatie was super en de service heel goed. We werden ontzettend goed ontvangen en geholpen en hebben 1 ochtend ontbijt geboekt en dat was heerlijk! Na aankomst werden er twee manden met speelgoed gebracht voor de kids, dat vonden ze echt geweldig!

Enige minpunt is dat de airco niet werkte, verder was het perfect en met een ventilator in de zomer goed te doen!

Die Unterkunft ist sehr zentral gelegen an der Kloof street. Die Gastgeber und das Personal sind super herzlich und waren sofort zur Stelle wenn wir etwas gebraucht hatten. Die Location ist eine kleine Oase und mit kleinen Appartements um das Haupt Haus herum das eine schönen Pool bereithält. Das Apartment hatte alles was wir benötigten.

Es gibt eigentlich nichts auszusetzen außer das ab und an das Internet nicht gut funktioniert hat aber das ist nicht der Rede wert

Mooi en rustig verblijf op goede locatie in Kaapstad

De locatie in Kaapstad vlak om de hoek van kloof Street, waar je allemaal restaurantjes en terrasjes hebt op loopafstand. Verder vonden wij erg fijn de groene tuin en de rust en het fijne zwembad. Parkeren in de straat was ook makkelijk voldoende parkeerplaats en gratis. De eigenaar heeft ons nog wat tips gegeven over restaurantjes in de buurt.

De ontvangst was heel hartelijk, maar er was niet heel veel uitleg over het appartement of werden niet echt wegwijs gemaakt. Verder waren we heel tevreden over ons verblijf hier en kunnen het van harte aanbevelen.

Heel fijne plek in Kaapstad

Wat een geweldige plek midden in Kaapstad. Van alle gemakken voorzien - zwembad, ontbijt, pizza. Heel lieve huisdieren op het terrein. En tot slot is het personeel super. Ik kom hier graag terug!

In onze kamer was het ‘s nachts warm ondanks ventilator (was hoogzomer) en deze lag aan de weg waardoor het wat gehorig was van auto’s als het raam in de nacht open was.
