After searching hotels for more than two months, I finally booked a highly rated lakeside hotel on Booking.com with an unbelievably convenient location. Everything is within walking distance — 2 minutes to the bus stop, 5 minutes to the lake pier, and 5 minutes to the The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.
Another big plus was the breakfast. Every morning, the host couple prepared a generous full English breakfast for the guests, and by the second day they even adjusted the menu according to our tastes, which made the stay feel much more warm and personal.
The only downside was that when booking, I didn’t notice that Room 12, although it has a private toilet and bathroom, both are located outside the bedroom. So after using the toilet, if you want to wash your hands and then take a shower, you actually have to walk back to the bedroom first because the sink is only inside the room. I hope have a trash bin in the room, which felt a bit inconvenient.
Another issue was that after returning from dinner on the first night, the room had a strong cooking oil smell. The hostess and I tried to figure out where it came from, but we never found the reason. We didn’t open the windows because it was freezing outside, and we also didn’t eat anything in the room. At that moment, what I really needed most was simply an air freshener.
