The property and location overall is very nice. Sadly our experience was not.
We booked a night at this hotel for a special Birthday Dinner and celebration.
However we spent 45 minutes stuck in a small dark elevator on the way to dinner.
After the staff worked out how to get the elevator going again we were left to get to dinner as if nothing had happened at all.
At the end of the birthday dinner we were kindly offered a sweet treat because of our earlier elevator experience and delay. At no stage did anyone remember or acknowledge this was a birthday celebration despite us specifically booking it as such.
However we were then left alone in the dining room while all the staff packed up and turned the lights out and left. We had to go and hunt down a lone server for the bill. The “Sweet treats” and coffee forgotten and not delivered ..!!
Very disappointing experience.
Memorable but for all the wrong reasons.
Some of the staff were fabulous!
Sadly this hotel needs work before it lives up to the standard we love and expect from the Relais and Chateaux Brand.
The manager gave us a 120e food credit at checkout the next morning but our overall experience here was like an episode from faulty towers.
Maybe given different circumstances our experience would have been different.

This property is situated on a peninsula at the end of Sirmione in spectacularly mantained gardens....
the entire property is kitted out with the highest of standards and quality furnishings.
No indoor pool so when the weather ain't playing ball there isn't very much to do...

The property and grounds were absolutely gorgeous. Service was exceptional. The breakfast spread was delicious, with prosecco included and hot food items available to order a la carte (but still included for free). Best pastries we had on our whole trip in Italy. Driving into the property thru Sirmione was a little tricky, but we got the hang of it. You could easily walk thru a gate at the back of the property that led you thru a park and into the town which was very quick and convenient. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.
I have no suggestions.

loved the elegant Lake View Suite with its breathtaking sunsets and thoughtful anniversary upgrade.
The food at Le Gardenie was truly Michelin-star quality, especially enjoyed on the terrace at sunset.
The stunning gardens, private pier, and peaceful atmosphere made it an unforgettable and romantic stay.
Honestly, there was nothing to dislike — perhaps just that our stay was too short, as we never wanted to leave such a beautiful and peaceful place.

Exclusive location but only a few minutes walk from the town. Spacious rooms, elegant public areas. Fabulous breakfast! Very attentive staff.
Hot water was a problem on the 1 st night but was resolved and allowance made on invoice. Little bit disappointed with restaurant, vegetables and potatoes needed to supplement the ‘small but perfectly formed’ main dishes.

Staying at Hotel Cortina is not just a hotel experience – it’s a demonstration of service management at its very best. Every detail, from check-in to farewell, reflects a profound understanding of what true hospitality means.
The team operates like a finely tuned service organization, anticipating needs before they’re expressed, and delivering each interaction with warmth, precision, and genuine care. It’s clear that excellence here is not accidental; it’s the result of deliberate management, strong values, and a deep pride in what they do.
Rooms are immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and maintained with an operational rigor that rivals luxury business hotels. Breakfast is a masterclass in customer experience — quality ingredients, perfectly timed replenishment, and a staff that balances efficiency with heartfelt attention.
What stands out most is the culture of ownership and accountability: every member of the team behaves as if the entire guest experience depends on them — and it does. Processes are invisible, but the results are flawless: seamless coordination, spotless facilities, and a human touch that turns service into an art form.
In a world where many hotels talk about “guest-centricity,” Hotel Cortina quietly delivers it, every single day. It’s not only one of Sirmione’s best-kept secrets — it’s an example that many larger hospitality brands could learn from.
If you want to understand what operational excellence and service leadership look like in practice, spend a night at Hotel Cortina. You’ll leave with more than memories — you’ll leave inspired.
Too short of a stay…

Everything! The building, the decor, the surroundings, the pool, the private beach area and the restaurants were all wonderful
We could hear a lot of noise from other rooms (which cannot be helped and isn’t the hotels fault) but we could hear near on full conversations through the air vent in the bathroom

The completely enclosed beautiful territory is a huge plus - with direct access to the pier and the park, as well as an on-site restaurant and bistro. The park is truly exceptional - spacious, peaceful, and beautifully designed, with plenty of cozy corners and hidden spots to relax. Very atmospheric bar with well-made cocktails. The Junior Suite was a good size; toiletries were by Acqua di Parma - for someone probably could be a plus. Complimentary minibar with soft drinks (once per stay), free bottled water, and a capsule coffee machine. Tea available as well. Valet service provided. Nice building with a stylish lounge area and terrace on the first floor, and a heated pool. Actually, driving through the town wasn’t that difficult - we went in and out every day. After reading about the narrow streets, we decided to come in a small Citroën, which turned out to be an excellent choice! Had we come in our Range Rover, it would have been much more stressful. I don’t envy the Bentley and Ferrari drivers :) So if you have several cars, select the smallest.
Great value for money - the property, location, and park are truly unique. The price feels surprisingly low for what you get as an experience from the place.
For us, none of this was critical, but it might be useful for future guests. We came to celebrate a birthday, booked table in a restaurant, but the staff completely forgot about it. After desserts !! they awkwardly delayed us and brought out galettes with cream and a candle. No flowers, as it was disscussed in advance. In other parts of Italy, we’ve had far more memorable celebrations - this was a little bit a disappointment :( Probably, maybe it should have been arranged much more detailef from our side. Not just in several messages.
Junior Suite (room 122) faced the pool, where the filtration system was running constantly, making it quite noisy.
The staff overall seemed unprofessional - cleaning ladies were overly familiar, waiters asked guests to hand them plates, served from the wrong side, forgot the wine, and even brought champagne of their own choice. Breakfast was mostly same type sweet pastries, about 70%. For the sweet breakfasts lovers. :) The first morning we waited far too long; the second day was much better.
In the bar - very limited selection of spirits.
There was no “Do Not Disturb” sign, and within just half a day after check-in, three different people entered our room - leaving tea for the night and so on. Not a big deal, but it does make you feel like anyone can walk in at any time.
Soundproofing isn’t great either - you can clearly hear TVs and children from nearby rooms.

The grounds of the hotel are a peaceful island, in the centre of an extremely busy town.
Breakfast and dining arrangements were close to ideal; dining under the stars, and breakfast in the sun.
The bathing area's restaurant and sun loungers were lovely, but the water was not well suited for bathing, as the lake bed is covered by very slippery rocks.

Thin Acoustic Walls (Especially the Bathroom Vents)
While the rooms themselves were impeccably comfortable and calming inside, one issue did stand out: sound traveled easily through the bath vents. Unfortunately, we could often hear other guests conversing or moving around
Driving through Sirmione town was a bit stressfull, manageble, when get used to the tight spaces and crowd.

Wow factor from the moment we arrived at the gates of the hotel. Staff very efficient and super friendly. The facilities are truly 5 star, lido/jetty down at the lake did turn a lot of heads of those walking the coastal path.
'Villa Cortine Palace' really is a PALACE!

A hotel that you can not say anything bad as everything about it is just superb. One of the nicest hotels in the world.
So close to the ruins and the cobbled town of Simione. We so loved our stay there.
There is nothing to report here. Perhaps we might have been warned about driving through the cobbled town roads of Simione amongst all the tourists to access the hotel. Quite an experience!!! My husband was so worried that we were doing the wrong thing!!!

Our stay was perfect and exceeded expectations on all levels.
Our room was amazing and service from all staff, was excellent!
Villa Cortine Palace Relais Chateaux was the highlight of our visit to Sirmionie, Lagi di Garda!
The town of Sirmione was very crowded.

We loved our stay.
Only negative we could identify...The cooked breakfast came out cold occasionally.

Beautiful hotel - excellent breakfast
advanced notice that you need to tell your taxi driver to drive through the town. We were dropped off a km away at the electric gates to the town - luggage and all - disaster. This was compounded by another big problem at the hotel. 52 rooms and only 1 telephone line for all calls - reservations, concierge - And its the same line if you call internally or if you’re calling from outside of the hotel as we were when we were dropped off with a km to go to the hotel with our luggage.

This is a beautiful, luxurious hotel. The staff and facilities were amazing. All staff were welcoming and provided exceptional service. We had a lovely old style room with a view of Lake Garda and the gardens. The room was huge as was the bathroom. The hotel is pricey but completely worth it.

Villa Cortine met all our expectations, and it is a true 5 star plus hotel in every sense. Breakfast, bar and restaurant are excellent, service is perfect, and the hotel and its extensive grounds are amazing.
The access to the hotel is tricky, and we arrived on a Sunday afternoon when the access to the hotel through the historic center of Sirmione is closed. We had to park the car in a huge public car park, where the hotel has some allocated, secure parking lots at the far end. We had 2 big suitcases plus hand luggage, and we had to drag our luggage ourselves along a gravel path to a meeting point at the entrance from where we were taken together with guests of other hotels to our hotel by a contractor with a golf buggy. We could not leave the car there and had to collect it on the same evening, and transfer it to the car park at the hotel. This is very inconvenient, and we wonder why the hotel does not have sufficient and secure parking outside, and its own shuttle service for its guests. Once arrived at the hotel, everything is reachable by foot, and we would have been perfectly happy to leave the car in the secure car park just outside the historic center. Driving through the very narrow streets of the historic center with a bigger car is possible, but considering that the town is over-run by thousands of tourists every day, driving through the crowds is a rather scary experience. Clearly, the hotel has to find a better solution there.

Wow - I honestly do not think there is anything not to love about this hotel.
The staff couldn’t do enough for us
I wouldn’t say I didn’t like but just be aware the drive to the hotel is through the old town

Exceptional stay! The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, the room was spotless and comfortable, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. The hotel’s architecture is stunning, with a beautiful legacy design that adds so much character. The large garden was a true highlight—peaceful, well-maintained, and perfect for relaxing. Truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended

Service was impeccable (front, dining, porter, everyone!). The rooms were very beautiful and the garden was mesmerizing. Breakfast offered great selection of everything. Location is perfect in the more quiet side of the town at the waterfront. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side during our stay so we weren't able to enjoy the best view of the lake. But despite that, we had a great stay!
The rooms aren't very sound proof but other than that everything was great. Just a small heads up for those driving to the hotel though -- the city center is very crowded and the road is narrow for people and vehicles to share. Just be careful and patient :)

A beautiful palace hotel with amazing staff. Friendly attentive service and fantastic food in a beautiful setting.
Access through the town was challenging and the access on foot was a steep walk back to the hotel.

It felt like being in a movie. The care of the staff coupled with the outstanding beauty. The perfect place to spend our honeymoon. The wonderful team on the main desk couldn’t do enough to help us organise activities for our days and always seemed interested and excited for us.
A gym or spa would be a really good addition.
