Lands of Loyal hotel

Everything - this is exactly what we’ve been looking for in a hotel! Absolutely dripping in character, spectacular lounge with rooms in a gallery and showpiece staircase. Lovely bedrooms, dining rooms and beautiful garden. Xhosa and her staff are charming and welcoming. We can hardly wait to return!

Shower pressure on first floor not ideal but this is a period property and hardly a major issue!

Super cosy and welcoming step back in time, old fashioned in a good way, every room is a delight. So relaxing, we wished we could stay longer. The evening meal was good and reasonably priced with a good choice of meat, fish, chicken and vegetarian options.

Don’t be put off by the rather worn entrance and adjacent window: the door in the panelling opens into a magic world!

Scottish Period Piece of History. Good food & Service. Very attractive

A long way from Calais

Everything about this place was amazing! I loved the vintage decor and the grand seating area with the fireplace. The staff were lovely and took good care of us. The dinner and breakfast room was lovely too. The food was delicious but a bit expensive although the breakfast was included with the room so cannot complain. It was all 5 star. I also spotted a red squirrel in the garden a couple of times. Usually difficult to spot them in the wild as they are extremely shy. So that was a huge bonus. Definitely looking forward to going back there in the winter.

More seafood and vegetarian options on the main course section would be nice.
