Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland

We’ve stayed at Fairmont many times- it’s a fabulous hotel set in beautiful Scottish golfing countryside. Clean modern and decadent.

Out only complaint was a little disappointed with La Cucina their Italian restaurant within the hotel. The food was very underwhelming. We were with another couple and we had been telling them how good it was - this was our first time back in a few years and 2 of the meals were awful. Chicken in the Caesar salad was dry and hard as a bone with no anchovies, lettuce was limp.. the arrabbiata pasta was far too hot and inedible. We had focaccia to share but had to ask for oil & balsamic and were served a meagre amount which wasn’t enough for the bread! They did offer us an alternative and didn’t charge us thankfully for both meals. But, for a hotel of this calibre the food should be 5 star. We were very disappointed.

Beautiful location very helpful staff , clean and amazing food

People using mobile phones in the spa shower and pool area . Did feel it was interrupting - privacy ( people were on face calls and taking photos . ) also was not conducive to relaxing . Sad because the spa area was lovely .

We loved the beautiful setting and peaceful atmosphere at Fairmont St Andrews. The hotel and grounds are lovely, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming. It was a great place to relax as a family. There was so much to do. The kids loved it!

It’s a little removed from the centre of St Andrews, so you need a taxi or car to go into town but the hotel offers a free shuttle at certain timings so it wasn’t really a dealbreaker. We also felt that the rooms and some areas (gym/spa) of the hotel could benefit from a refresh, especially considering the price.

We have visited the fairmont for many years, comfy beds, great location and views

Service in some hospitality areas could be improved,
