Catered to our late arrival

We contacted the hotel to say we were arriving after the dining room hours and they offered us a menu online to pre order food. When we arrived our food was ready and delicious. Staff were great and went above and beyond to make us comfortable Great nights sleep

Comfortable 2-night stay in a grand townhouse.

Spacious twin room (in attic on second floor) with comfortable beds, nice en-suite and the luxury of a dressing/clothes hanging area just inside the door. No creaking floorboards, heard no noise from above or through party walls (if any), and practically none from the busy main road. Staff were very helpful, and even accepted my order for food after the kitchen had officially closed.

Please take the full-length mirror out of the en-suite, the one that directly faces the loo!--I don't wish look at me sitting there......

Typical Scottish Lowlands Offering - Hollywood Fixtures and Fittings / Service Station Food

The staff were very friendly. Hotel room was well appointed. Leaving. Recently stayed at the Hotel Cou Cou in Montreaux, the Hotel Lion in Zug and the Peacock in Rowsley. I found these three Hotels to be very good. The old part of the Moorings Hotel is beautiful. The new part where my bedroom was located was charmless and reminded me of a barracks I had the pleasure of staying at in Katowice just after the fall of the iron curtain. The traffic noise on the main road which continued until 03.00am.

I am an old man with limited mobility and patience and I did not like: (1) The bedroom windows that apart from the top part could not be opened for ventilation purposes. (2) The myriad of claustrophobic featureless stairways leading to my bedroom. (3) The numerous fire doors. (4) Being told at check-in to guess what I wanted for breakfast the next morning. This is not civilised behaviour post-Covid. (5) I had their take on “steak pie” for dinner. Scotland has produced some of the finest steak pies known to man kind over the last century. My steak pie was “murder polis” (Scottish slang for horrendous). Colourless and tasteless puff pastry topping, steak cubes of a consistent size that were half cooked and brick hard. Diced vegetables that again were only half cooked. The Chef should have went up to Fir Park and bought some streak pies from the football club or went to Donalds the Butchers in Uddingston and bought in bulk. (6) Spending ten minutes trying to work out how to adjust the temperature on the very nice shower ! (7) The white painted heated towel rail stuck on maximum heat that had resulted in the steel towel rail tubes turning orange as a result of high temperature corrosion ! (8) Paying £142 for a double bed and tooth / jaw ache !

Awful - wish I had viewed room/facilities before making full payment as requested on arrival.

Shower basic but power and heat OK

Standard room was in reality a very dreary attic space. Cleanliness of drawers, chairs and bed base very poor. Mass of compacted dust, fluff and dirt between mattress and bed base, food, dirt etc in backs of chairs. We lived out our suitcases rather than use the limited unclean facilities. Divan definitely seen better days, occupants roll to centre of mattress. Gap between door to room and floor allowed illumination of room each time the movement activated corridor lights came on at times through out the night and early hours. No enclosed storage facility for clothing and luggage rack below wall mounted coat hangers missing support bracket thus unusable. Room dowdy and airless opening single window resulted in very loud traffic noise through out the night (sound clips recorded mobile phone quite shocking). Pets are allowed in standard rooms, unfortunate if you have a barking dog next door as walls are so thin and sleep impossible. Having witnessed a staff member eat an item from a customers plate before delivering food to the table we decided to take meals elsewhere. We expected much better from Best Western, had we had success in finding alternative accommodation at short notice we would have left after our first night. The food was nice, the area is very well lit, nice and bright. The rooms were very comfortable, the pillows are the best I've ever slept on. It was value for money.

I found it really strange that you had to pre order breakfast the night before and if you failed to order each night for the following morning you got what you had ordered previously. Really bizarre and not good practice. The bar staff were very friendly and attentive. Found the reception staff a bit miserable to be honest, not a smile among them.

Elaine in the dining room and the receptionist were very helpful and pleasant.

Faulty mirror in bathroom, reported it so that an electrician could fix. Dated furniture in the restaurant area, could do with a refresh. Pillows on bed not very comfortable and lumpy mattress. Quite a lot of road noise which disturbed my sleep.
