We had a very nice experience. The room was warm, cosy, and clean, and the hotel overall felt pleasant and surprisingly calm. The staff were friendly, and I would especially like to thank Juan.
Juan clearly enjoys his job and shows a genuine interest in the guests. We had a friendly chat, and I also noticed how attentively he interacted with other guests. He has such a positive attitude and doesn’t hesitate to go the extra mile to be helpful. In a world where many hospitality staff seem prepared to do only the bare minimum, it was truly refreshing to meet Juan and the rest of the team, for whom doing their best comes naturally.

The location, just of the motorway, excellent walks in the country park by the loch when we stayed last summer, this trip was 2 days into the snow storms for our overnight stay even though almost empty the hotel was warm and comfy,
The usual breakfast bar was replaced by freshly cooked individual orders plus the normal cold dishes. The staff on learning we were traveling on to 40 miles north of Inverness with possibility of closed snow gates made sure we had flasked hot water to make drinks and a box of pastries in case we got held up. The hot water in fact saved us when despite -20 antifreeze the spray jets froze up twice.
Stayed again begining of Feb on way home still excellent.

The hotel was lovely, a friendly welcome and pleasant staff throughout the hotel. The food was exceptional.
The only thing that could be improved, based on other hotel stays, would be a magnifying mirror in the bathroom with good lighting and a bathroom pack containing items like a shower cap, cotton buds, cotton wool etc.

Location and friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Stained carpets, poor bedroom lighting, dated environment throughout. It needs renovating to bring up to 4 star standards.

The staff were very friendly.
Issue in first room regarding toilet not flushing.
Moved room, then an issue with the shower flooding the bathroom floor every time we used it.
Tea/coffee making facilities in an awkward place so quite difficult to access the items to make a drink.
Missing items from the cooked breakfast, which had to be ordered because there were few people booked in for the night. The chef decided it wasn't worth putting on a hot buffet breakfast.

Had a sound above my room that sounded like a someone bouncing a pen in between there fingers on a desk or banging a penny on a desk loudly would go on for a couple of minutes and then stop for 90 seconds and then restart don’t believe it was another guest as happen over two nights very annoying very loud struggle to sleep both night

It’s a nice looking hotel. Breakfast was good (although no pancakes for my daughter). Was a good price.
Room was very draughty (I thought the window was open - and also at the door), however, the room was warm when blinds and curtains wee closed. Blind was filthy - covered in dirty marks. Shower was hot (but couldn’t make it colder!). TV on the wall was small and squinty. Shower bottle holder wasn’t secure so bottle fell off when using it. A small biscoff biscuit with the coffee making things was disappointing for a 4* hotel. (Probably the cheapest biscuit out there). Reception staff could’ve been more welcoming. (I was greeted with a “name?”. Not even ‘hello’). Restaurant closed at 8pm.

The hotel was clean
Mostly everything. From around 10pm there was plumbing and heating issues which caused loud banging every minute, on the minute, all the way through until the morning. This caused for a sleepless night. We let the reception know after it started around 1030pm and before we mentioned anything they mentioned right away about the heating and plumbing making noises and they'd try fix it. This wasn't fixed and we never managed much sleep all night. I let the hotel staff know the next day and they were the ones that told me to email them and I should get a refund. I showed them a video of the audio and the girl said it was terrible and so loud. I never asked for a refund. I did what I was asked and emailed. I've now been ignored and the response I did, I got made I was just complaining and I'm an inconvenience. No refund or response as of yet and it's been about 3 weeks since I stayed. I personally wouldn't recommend staying here, especially if you need rest. I've been made to feel like a complaining customer when all i was doing was what they asked of me.

When we arrived staff were very friendly and welcoming and knew we had stayed at the Alona hotel previously. Our room was clean spacious and comfortable for our 2 night stay. We always find the staff friendly and helpful each time we visit.
We could only stay two nights due to work commitments.

Room was clean and bigger than expected, although a little tired, The room was nice and warm, on the whole better than I thought it wouls be, more shelving would have been good.
Dining area was very cold for breakfast, meeting during the day and evening meal, had to wear coats all the time. There was a party right outide our rooms on Saturday night (in the marque) with load music until around 12:30, which meant I couldn't sleep, I then got woken up by party goers in the coridor around 2:30am (sounded like they were in the room), and footsteps from the room above very noisey so I got woken up again around 4am. The rooms could do with better sound proofing.

Not a lot. 4 star is nowhere near correct. More like 2.
Plug points next to the bed don't work, room freezing cold, walls like paper so you can hear your neighbours snoring, bathrooms nicer in prisons with better functioning showers.
The fact I had to leave early hours due to a family bereavement, I rushed out and left some (expensive) items that have miraculously disappeared. Appalling behaviour as they've quite clearly been stolen by staff.

Location very good; rooms comfortable and clean.
The dining/lounge area was very cold, which was disappointing. This was especially problematic as we had two elderly people with us who felt the chill. When dining, we had to sit with our coats on, which was not very enjoyable.
The selections at breakfast were not very extensive and could be improved upon.
The coffee machine really needs to be updated, as it wasn’t producing good-quality coffee.
Final comment: While the rooms were comfortable and the location ideal, we were disappointed that no room fridge was available and that the main reception and dining area were extremely cold.

Comfortable room, with the usual early 90's layout and fittings. Staff at reception could not have been more helpful and friendly. Spanish waiter very chatty and friendly. Room servicing lady very helpful and clearly efficient. Hotel is very convienently situated in Strathclyde Park and close to the M74 Motorway, though very quiet. Reasonably good breakfast, which is of a buffet style with fresh cooked items available.
Property is quite old and dated. Sockets were few and not always convenient for our devices no USB connectors. TV old and SD. Bathroom showing signs of ageing and of older fittings etc. as well as silicon sealing being mouldy in many places. Had obviously been refurbished about 10 years ago but leaving many older 'hallmarks' of an earlier age. Coffee machine always seemed to deliver cool coffee.

Good location for a break ,comfy room and good breakfast . All staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking and EV charging was available in the car park.
Restaurant closes quite early in the evening. But Toby Carvery near by filled the gap.
