The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. We stayed for a couple of days whilst visiting Beamish.
If I had any complaints the bathroom paint was a bit chipped, but was clean.

Quiet location, good facilities.
Really good ‘special’ meal on first night - thanks to Micky, Andy, and Nina the chefs.
All the staff were excellent - friendly and helpful.
Slightly too far away to walk to other eating places, but great location for travelling by car to tourist attractions in the NE

The hotel was very nice, a nice country pub vibe with a great Sunday roast and lots of alcohol free drinks to choose from. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff very all very nice and friendly and the beer garden looked lovely although we didn't use it.
The thing that let this down for us was the breakfast. I ordered the smoked salmon and poached eggs. The eggs were undercooked and swimming in water. I returned them with no issue but the 2nd serving was just the same, undercooked and I just didn't eat them. Disappointing as the Sunday roast the night before was delicious.

My chalet room outside the main building was clean and comfortable, very quiet with a nice rural view. The bar / restaurant was very busy at 6pm on a Friday so I guess it is a popular place. However there was still free seating available both inside and out - there is a pleasant garden area. The receptionist was quick and efficient. Access to Newcastle town centre by car is very easy, just 10 minutes or so, and there was available free parking despite hosting an event that night.
Breakfast service was a bit average. There were no coffee cups, crockery or cereal bowls available at the buffet when I arrived and after a 5 minute wait I had to go and find someone in the kitchen to provide. Another table was also waiting. The poached eggs in Eggs Benedict looked fried to me and were not runny.
