    We booked the short stay, having not visited Newcastle for some years, and I’d read about this recently opened hotel in an article. My husband is a Batman fan, so I knew the name Gotham would tickle him, and it did. We decided to travel from the Midlands by car to have comfort on the long journey. Parking at the hotel is pricey (£50 per night!), so we parked at Times Square, where you can buy a 5-day pass for £33.50. It’s safe, with 24/7 security and CCTV. We parked on their cute little forecourt, unloaded our luggage at the hotel and checked in. A valet met us at the door and took all our luggage on a trolley straight to our room. A lovely touch. The arrival at the old Fire Station is quite stunning and very much a wow moment when you step inside. We were taken to our Club room, which was stunning throughout. One of the most beautiful hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in. It was spacious and everything is thought of and catered for. We later had cocktails in the Fire bar, which is decorated with repurposed fire hoses and buckets as lighting and fixtures. So clever. There’s something clever to see at every turn. I could go on, but it’s somewhere you need to experience yourself. The fire bar is open to the public, so you don’t need to be a hotel guest to enjoy it. If you order the friendship cocktail you’ll get a nice surprise! Breakfast is served in the Siren restaurant and is outstanding! The buffet and hot food options, made to order, are first class. Tino looked after us during our stay and made us feel really special every morning. They do a banana bread that is to die for and I had to take a couple of slices away to enjoy with a cuppa later. It’s worth staying for that alone! The hotel has the wow factor, but a couple of elements would elevate the experience. The hotel does not have a spa. Though the website states that hotel partners could deliver in-room spa services, this wasn’t possible, which is a shame. Also, it was our wedding anniversary and this was not acknowledged with any special touches, which we have had at previous hotels. I’m being picky, because the hotel is outstanding, but these special little touches are what makes a hotel stay for a special occasion truly memorable. That said, I do recommend the Gotham Hotel, and would there again when we visit Newcastle in the future.

    Hotel Gotham is a great quirky hotel being themed 1930’s Art Deco, with lovely friendly & helpful staff and being situated in a the heart of the action for some fun nights out.
