A wonderful stay

What a wonderful little hotel. We had such a fantastic stay here. From the warm and energetic service to the great food and beverage options to the immaculate and spacious rooms, this was the perfect start to our trip. So much so we didn't leave the hotel during our stay as we enjoyed it so much! Our only regret is not staying longer. In particular, we really appreciated the hotel's responsiveness in arranging our airport transfer and the way in which the restaurant staff took time to check meal ingredients to accommodate my dietary requirements. We hope to visit again soon!

Lots of potential and great location but not up to standard for the price.

Lovely setting right on the front in sea point. Great sized rooms with lovely big beds. Good amenities with the pool and gym. Beautiful central courtyard with an amazing breakfast.

Overall we were a little disappointed. We booked this as a treat for ourselves having just gotten married, and it did not live up to the price. I had called the hotel ahead to let them know our flight was delayed and we might be late, and the response from the person on the line was a blunt “our reception is 24 hours” - nothing else. The bathroom still had hair left from the guests before. There was paint peeling off the bathroom wall. The lid of the kettle in the room was filthy. The service was a bit slow at breakfast despite there being plenty of staff - we would have to flag down people to ask for menus after sitting for 10 minutes. Lots of small things which means we were just a bit disappointed.

I love the location, the modern vintage beautiful deco. Staff was very friendly and respectful. The food was delicious.

The Winchester never fails to please. Always surpasses expectation.

The room was well appointed and clean. Windows had the necessary insulation to keep out noise. It was well proportioned and decorated and extremely clean. The courtyard is exceptional pretty with the bougainvillea and the other verandahs offer a view of the sea. Breakfast was scrumptious. The staff are friendly and helpful and no ask is too big for them. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Wonderful stay in a true gem of a hotel in gorgeous Sea Point.

The hotel has lots of character and atmosphere, and it is in a terrific and beautiful location. My room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The staff (especially Amy at the front desk) are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast featured lots of delicious options (both buffet and menu), and we also enjoyed dinners in the hotel restaurant. The spa is gorgeous and tranquil.

Rooms are well appointed. Love the location and sea view. Having a Nespresso machine is great.

The ducted Aircon control has no cover and is very bright at night. Ive reported this before. For some reason in the mornings the water is not very hot. I think the furniture in the little balcony area could be more welcoming.

Sunsets and perfection

The Winchester is an incredible hotel. It has vintage charm with all modern amenities with beautiful views of the beach and sunsets. The other side looks out on Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Breakfast is generally included with a fabulous buffet in addition to a la carte menu items to satisfy most tastes. The garden courtyard is mesmerizing with climbing flowering greenery up the sides of the cloistered hallway on the upper floors. The swimming pool is beautiful with comfortably padded longe chairs for relaxing. The staff are kind and go above and beyond. The Winchester is one of the best hotels we have experienced in 40 years of travelling around the world.

Winchester Hotel has Cape Town Charm

The Winchester has a lot of historic charm with distinctive, Dutch-inspired local architecture and a great seafront location. It's about a 40-minute walk to the V&A Waterfront but hotel staff said not to walk back at night, so we Ubered. Terrific restaurant, great food and vegan options, very stylish, Santa Monica vibe. The pool looks great but it was too chilly at our visit to enjoy it. I will go back!

Very nice hotel in lovely location

Fabulous room with large comfy bed and pod coffee machine. Really nice ensuite with large drench shower. Very nicely furnished. Breakfast was very good but a little bit disorganized although there was a coach party there. Confusing as to what was to be ordered versus buffet and coffee was slow. Staff in reception were extremely efficient and super courteous. No messing at reception, really quick checkin and checkout even though we arrived early. Highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel but incompetent staff ruined it.

A beautiful boutique hotel.

Housekeeping has no clue to clean. Had to ask to top up toilet paper, body wash, the bubble bath was empty on arrival and remained empty the entire week. Dustbins were not emptied. Blanket just thrown on the bed. Check in was delayed we had to wait 45min as the room was not ready. 2:45pm. Front desk staff had attitude, not friendly or helpful. Had to sit in The courtyard where they were busy working and drilling and started to drizzle.

Comfortable, great location and good food in the heart of Sea Point.

Let's talk about the breakfast options. Incredible. There is a continental buffet and you get to order a warm breakfast as well from the menu. Comfortable rooms with satellite television, although no time to watch as you're in Sea Point and who wants to be in their rooms when you have all of that within your reach. Great location, park and explore. Great restaurants within reach with the Waterfront and CBD just a couple of minutes away. Access to the promenade is a breeze for morning walks. Beds are comfortable with a great duvet which, during our visit in Winter was delightful. Pillows are thick though so if you're not used to it, might be challenging but don't let that take away from the experience. Parking available at R85 per vehicle per day behind a closed gate. Two restaurants on site make in-house dining a breeze.

The mini bar was not stocked and only upon checkout when we mentioned this, was told that there is an option available but you need to request that during check in. We did not know and was not offered this option.

Amazing location and decor

Our stay wasn’t without issues (our room started dripping after a very stormy night) but what was great was how swiftly and effectively these were dealt with and the staff remained professional and polite all throughout. The restaurant has a delicious food and cocktail menu. With weather in Cape Town being less than ideal we spent a lot of time at the hotel and were very comfortable.

I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and the courtyard of course is lovely especially in the summer.

Staff at front desk were very accommodating. There were some renovations being done at the hotel which caused some noise and I was moved and even upgraded to a suite. Hats off especially to the gents at front desk. Rooms were also cleaned well daily. Location is very good. The suite had lively view and balcony.

Restaurant staff are friendly but could use some training.

The property is clean, well kept, directly frontal to the ocean. The area is safe and only a 10 min drive to the Waterfront and Camps Bay.

No major dislikes realy, if I were picky I would point out the small size of the „pool” yet the building is a heritage one so was not designed for a large pool area.

Excellent location. Charming building.rooms are large and well appointed. Liked the teas and espresso machine in room. Staff, from housekeeping to front desk to doormen, were all very helpful and communicative. We appreciated the advice given for tourism. The tour company they recommended and we used was very good also. The Shoreditch restaurant had a very good breakfast which was booked as included, but also we tried lunch and dinner. The fire cooking method highlighted served an excellent fish of the day and the side dishes in that meal were excellent as well. Highly recommend.
