Early flight so we were at the hotel by 9. Quickly told we would have to pay for breakfast if we would like to avail ourselves, a welcome complimentary coffee might have been a nice touch. Receptionist said she would contact housekeeping to hurry along our room but normal check in was 2, even after a couple of checks we weren’t contacted until 2.10. I understand how someone has to leave the room before it can be serviced for the next guest but I can’t believe we were the last guest to arrive. Heard a guest saying their partner had a stomach bug, receptionist said it was the 5th guest he’d heard about that morning. Two days later we succumbed???

The pool became dominated by out of control kids and no one did anything about it. There was no lounge for guests to sit comfortably in away from hotel visitors

Average customer services and experience at this price. Reception staff interaction and communication minimal, not particularly friendly or welcoming. Did not feel as if we arrived at an exceptional or special place. Disappointed in overall experience. Expected something more. I would not recommend staying here.

What a nice hotel and a great place to start a Cape Town holiday. We had a nice loft room on the 3rd floor with a fantastic sunset view. Room was spacious and super clean. Lovely restaurant and a great place for breakfast brunches. Also really liked the pool area. The only issue was that no one really felt responsible for cleaning the sunbeds, trays or service the guest. Had to ask them every time

The breakfast was lovely but only a few waiters were really attentive. We had to wait for coffee and tea and also once for the shakshuka for over 30 mins.

A wonderful stay

What a wonderful little hotel. We had such a fantastic stay here. From the warm and energetic service to the great food and beverage options to the immaculate and spacious rooms, this was the perfect start to our trip. So much so we didn't leave the hotel during our stay as we enjoyed it so much! Our only regret is not staying longer. In particular, we really appreciated the hotel's responsiveness in arranging our airport transfer and the way in which the restaurant staff took time to check meal ingredients to accommodate my dietary requirements. We hope to visit again soon!

Lots of potential and great location but not up to standard for the price.

Lovely setting right on the front in sea point. Great sized rooms with lovely big beds. Good amenities with the pool and gym. Beautiful central courtyard with an amazing breakfast.

Overall we were a little disappointed. We booked this as a treat for ourselves having just gotten married, and it did not live up to the price. I had called the hotel ahead to let them know our flight was delayed and we might be late, and the response from the person on the line was a blunt “our reception is 24 hours” - nothing else. The bathroom still had hair left from the guests before. There was paint peeling off the bathroom wall. The lid of the kettle in the room was filthy. The service was a bit slow at breakfast despite there being plenty of staff - we would have to flag down people to ask for menus after sitting for 10 minutes. Lots of small things which means we were just a bit disappointed.

I love the location, the modern vintage beautiful deco. Staff was very friendly and respectful. The food was delicious.

The Winchester never fails to please. Always surpasses expectation.

The room was well appointed and clean. Windows had the necessary insulation to keep out noise. It was well proportioned and decorated and extremely clean. The courtyard is exceptional pretty with the bougainvillea and the other verandahs offer a view of the sea. Breakfast was scrumptious. The staff are friendly and helpful and no ask is too big for them. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Wonderful stay in a true gem of a hotel in gorgeous Sea Point.

The hotel has lots of character and atmosphere, and it is in a terrific and beautiful location. My room was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The staff (especially Amy at the front desk) are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast featured lots of delicious options (both buffet and menu), and we also enjoyed dinners in the hotel restaurant. The spa is gorgeous and tranquil.

Rooms are well appointed. Love the location and sea view. Having a Nespresso machine is great.

The ducted Aircon control has no cover and is very bright at night. Ive reported this before. For some reason in the mornings the water is not very hot. I think the furniture in the little balcony area could be more welcoming.

Sunsets and perfection

The Winchester is an incredible hotel. It has vintage charm with all modern amenities with beautiful views of the beach and sunsets. The other side looks out on Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Breakfast is generally included with a fabulous buffet in addition to a la carte menu items to satisfy most tastes. The garden courtyard is mesmerizing with climbing flowering greenery up the sides of the cloistered hallway on the upper floors. The swimming pool is beautiful with comfortably padded longe chairs for relaxing. The staff are kind and go above and beyond. The Winchester is one of the best hotels we have experienced in 40 years of travelling around the world.

Winchester Hotel has Cape Town Charm

The Winchester has a lot of historic charm with distinctive, Dutch-inspired local architecture and a great seafront location. It's about a 40-minute walk to the V&A Waterfront but hotel staff said not to walk back at night, so we Ubered. Terrific restaurant, great food and vegan options, very stylish, Santa Monica vibe. The pool looks great but it was too chilly at our visit to enjoy it. I will go back!

Very nice hotel in lovely location

Fabulous room with large comfy bed and pod coffee machine. Really nice ensuite with large drench shower. Very nicely furnished. Breakfast was very good but a little bit disorganized although there was a coach party there. Confusing as to what was to be ordered versus buffet and coffee was slow. Staff in reception were extremely efficient and super courteous. No messing at reception, really quick checkin and checkout even though we arrived early. Highly recommend this hotel.
