My go-to in Maastricht, can’t be beaten

Looked after us well, in need of modernisation.

Breakfast should include porridge and more fresh fruits. How about sausage and baked beans.

The lift was very slow and the bathroom could do without a bath, just a good shower, and a greater variety of washing products.

Be careful on tourist tax charges

Location is perfect

Apartment with 2 bedrooms was double booked. so they gave me 1 room with 1 double bed... after I persisted it was changed to 2 single rooms... Tourist tax charged in the hotel was 20% more then what Booking mentioned in their confirmation and ended up to be 50% above the official rate listed on the Maastricht municipal website for a 4 star hotel... this left a bad feeling on how the hotel tries to make extra money.

Not value for money

The breakfast was very dissapointing. An hour before end of breakfast there was no bread or croissants left. We had to ask for several refills of buffet which took a long time. Other guests even came after us and were told there was no bread left. Most tables were not cleared during the entire time we were in the breakfast area. Furthermore the chair in the hotelroom was filthy, so much so that we did not even want to sit in it. When complaining at the front desk I only got excuses. For a hotel like Derlon this is unacceptable.

The property was beautiful and I like the location

The service. Was not welcome appropriately.(I don’t think at all) Had no clue that there was a Roman Ruin beneath us. Our friend, who recommended the hotel and why we were visiting Maastricht, told us about it. Of course when we asked to see it, it was close. checked in wasn’t educated on the room or services.

Overall very good indeed, and the friendliness helpfulness of staff was very commendable.

Many things, decor,ambiance and central location. Comfortable room well equipped. Good restaurant and menu.

The room could benefit from a couple of mobile phone charge plug points. Breakfast had good selection, and interesting location.Music and level at 8.00 was not to our taste!

Great location but lighting in suites needs to be improved.

location and general amenities etc. were very good. Suite content and quality as very good with exception of lighting mentioned below.

We had 2 of the suites and the lighting was awful. we had to light every side lamp in the rooms to even achieve a moderate light. the Andre Rieu suite was a bit cold too.

Terrible experience

The view , the central location and the two young ladies on reception who tried to resolve all issues for us.

On arrival we were informed our twin room was not available or booked over the square. We had to wait for over an hour for them to find us one, after showing a previous room with no view and a double bed. we are not a couple hence why we booked a twin with a view. We had no breakfast on our booking and no twin room overlooking the square we requested and paid for. We had to share a bed which is not appropriate. No breakfast available to me after asking for nut & fish free, these was confirmed in October when booking was made. They confirmed they could accommodate with a double bed in a back room. Although we argued we hadn’t booked these requests. They would not refund or pay another hotel for us. The coffee machine broken every day at breakfast which was all I could have due to allergies of which I had stated in my booking. Also no food covered like yogurts and fruit and we had to sit amongst flies as we ate. We booked a taxi 24 hrs prior from hotel to Andre rieu concert to arrive late. Arguments with other guests over my taxi that they too had been let down with and they wanted to take mine. Change underpaid with taxi also of 15 euros had to get hotel to chase that . Then charged 47 euros tourist tax and when we dithered over this they rudely asked how was your stay and we said we’ve had better. They replied well we gave you your breakfast. one point being we didn’t get any due to allergies and too we had already paid for it !

Nice location but very pricey because of Andre Rieu concerts. Meal was disappointing..

Good location for our purposes. Comfortable room.

Meal service before Andre Rieu concert was painfully slow. We arrived at 17.30 to be seated and the first course was served at 18.00. The main course was served at 18.40 and we abandoned at 19.15 before the sweet course was served. This was for a Set Menu, so no reason for delay. The serving staff were more interested in serving alcohol than getting the food on to the table. Quality of the food was good.

Central position with excellent parking . Great breakfast and generally a well run establishment.

Only one complaint and that is that when a concert is on The Derlon takes in travel groups and doubtless serves them well but at the expense of the offering to individual clients! I.e. restaurant closure times ,people need to eat after 9.30 p.m.

Beautiful square and city. Hotel acceptable but pricey.

Room was oke. Facing the square but no noise or disturbance. Very pleasant to sit outside by the hotel. Very good service there.

Our bathroom was not clean. Especially the floor was dirty. It is an expensive hotel to stay in. Probably it's the location that you pay for. And possibly the TEFAF has an influence on the price too.
