Too expensive for what it is. Groups of men hanging around the parking lot.

Had to wait 40 minutes before we could check in. Only one receptionist was there while others were busy talking in the back room. After about 35mins of chatting, someone came out and opened the second counter. Not great if you're waiting with two toddlers. Then when we came in the room it wasn't fully clean. Bathroom sink had weird stains and the mattresses were sagging. Then, when parking the car, there was a large group of young men hanging around the parking lot next to around 50+ fatbikes. These young men were all watching my family while we parked the car. It did not feel safe taking all the stuff out of the car while being watched by a group of men. Especially as we have young children with us. We paid over 400 euros in total (incl parking) to stay there for two nights. I would think twice of going back here.

Great place for a family friendly city break

Anna and Eirini were especially helpful with directions, suggestions, and helping me recover an item that was left behind. The Rituals products in the bathroom were a lovely treat! We appreciated that it was so welcoming to kids.

The location was outside the main centre (30 min walk to Markt) but the buses were nearby and convenient.

Pleasant stay, but showing its age

We were grateful to have found this property at short notice because we made an impromptu plan to visit the Christmas markets in Valkenburg, and that city was fully booked. The Novotel was a short drive away, and we were happy to see that they had a couple of free EV charging points at the property. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast spread was fair. My children enjoyed the pancakes, and the coffee machine made a mean cappuccino.

The property was clearly showing its age, and could do with better upkeep. The paint on the bathroom door was cracked in several places and the doorstopper had begun to disintegrate. Our children had trouble operating the hand shower in the tub because the faucet had a rather unusual safety notch. The toilet - separate from the bathroom - was small, and the poor lighting made it seem even smaller.

Great Room, Perfect Breakfast, Excellent People

The personnel of the hotel was very polite and friendly at all times. They welcomed me in the best possible way. The actual room had all the necessary amenities and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast had a very rich buffet.

The location is not very convenient for those traveling by train. It is also a bit far from the city center. Relatively close to the university.

Disappointed with this Novotel hotel

We always check in at Novotela wherever we go on a holiday. I was frustratingly surprised to that the check out for the this hotel is at 1030. Seriously? The check in was 1500 still and yet you expect to do check out earlier?? The breakfast was until 1000 and yet check out was 1030??? the staff also didn't help and was not accommodating at all. don't bother going here

Clean, comfortable business style hotel, perfect for what we wanted.

Clean, well appointed room. Comfortable bed. Enjoyed the Rituals products in the bathroom. You can use the hotel's city bikes for an additional charge if you want. We were able to take our dog with us for an additional €25 and were provided with a dog welcome pack containing food and treats in our room.

We felt that the cost of the room was expensive, especially as it didn't include breakfast. Similarly, the hotel charges an additional fee for using their car park, which we felt should be included in the room rate.

Fair value for money

Its Brilliant location, 15 min walk to the river and all the Shops and restaurants. They also prepared for our dog little goodie bag in our room on arrival. Kids got activity packs that kept them busy when we went out in the evening.

It’s bit dated but good value for the money. Also not that happy about having to pay for the parking extra.

the Novotel standards are international, the breakfast Buffet was nice, lots of choice! Friendly staff had a very pleasant stay in Maastricht! Food quality is nice, with the swimming pool in the back yard, it simply was an enjoyable stay.

Mixed feelings

We liked that it was clean and staff especially the nightshift team where more than very helpful. The location was not an issue as a bus service took you into the centrum from approx 200 yard from hotel. Taxi cost approx 12 euro.

We didn't like that we had not been informed of the 2 adjacent ongoing building sites at the rear and at one end of the hotel. This caused a displacement of rats and they where clearly visible running around the pool/ outside eating area. The chef could do with a refresher course as we witnessed his inability to deal with a 2 plate order ( He actually cooked our steaks plated them and 5 minutes later put them back in the oven then when challenged he actually tried to deny what he had just done). However I must add that when we explained this to a senior member of staff our plates where removed and a fresh meal was prepared for us.

Absolutely fantastic staff and place. Joost was the host with the most. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he went out of his way for you. Should be proud to have him on board. Saying that all the staff couldn't be faulted.
