Overall, picked this place based on location.
We stayed at Apartment Kurt for five nights and unfortunately cannot recommend this property based on our experience.
The apartment was dark, poorly maintained, and significantly below acceptable cleanliness standards. Upon arrival, the kitchen had ants throughout the area, and surfaces including counters, bedroom furniture, and shelving were covered in heavy dust — suggesting the apartment had not been properly cleaned in a long time. The bedroom carpet was dirty and appeared not to have been vacuumed prior to our stay.
Basic kitchen necessities were missing. No dish soap or sponge was provided, making it impossible to clean anything. The coffee and espresso kettles were moldy and unusable. Dishware was extremely limited — only two glasses, two coffee cups, and a few bowls for a multi-night stay.
The small refrigerator blocked access to the garden door, which opened to a cluttered and unmaintained outdoor space. The listing also referenced a VCR with dozens of tapes, yet the VCR did not work — an outdated and irrelevant amenity in 2026.
We ultimately received only a 15% partial refund, which did not adequately reflect the condition of the apartment. Based on cleanliness issues, lack of usable facilities, and overall maintenance concerns, a substantially larger refund would have been appropriate.
Future guests should carefully reconsider booking unless cleanliness and basic accommodation standards are clearly addressed.

Apartment is attached (albeit across the tiny road) from a hotel that also has this property. The check in was a smooth process within the hotel and then we were shown across the road and assisted with our luggage to get into the apartment. As we were travelling from Australia for a 3 generations family holiday with 4 adults & 2 children for 5 weeks we had a LOT of luggage. Apartment on first sight is spacious with 2 large bedrooms; we already knew about the one bathroom. The outlook is a tiny garden with outdoor furniture; as it was winter the warmth of the apartment greeted us and the 2 young children loved the snow outside. Each bedroom is very spacious with high ceilings and great drapes/curtains and each contained a large double bed and another bed for each child. In the main bedroom there is shelving and wardrobes with books and some games and toys. The kitchen is tiny however everything worked well and there was a table with 6 chairs. The bathroom is off the kitchen and the toilet is in the bathroom. Okay for us as we are 3 generations travelling together and it was known to us before we booked. The location and the hotel staff were both amazing. Apartment is right in the middle of Salzburg. Each morning we went to local cafes for breakfast and then again to local restaurants (within walking distance for children) returning to the welcoming hotel for a drink before going across the safe road to our apartment. The area is very safe and the apartment is great for a few days in Salzburg especially in winter with the Christmas decorations everywhere and the market. We LOVED our time in Salzburg which was made very special by the hotel staff and the cosy, warm and spacious apartment at a reasonable cost. It is almost in a total pedestrian zone with beautiful buildings, castle (a must see) on a hill with a furnicular railway to the top, cobblestone streets and beautifully decorated single shop windows. Thank you to the hosts for a great stay.
It is not that we did not like the following, it is more to be aware that the apartment is an OLDER apartment in a great and very safe building with reception that is friendly and welcoming in a hotel directly opposite over a tiny safe road (who own the apartment). It is priced accordingly and a FABULOUS location. The fridge is tiny however still good enough for yogurt milk and bottles of water and worked well. ALL this is minor as bedrooms are spacious the living/kitchen is adequate and the price was very good value in a busy in pre-New Years Eve time.

The location.
We were ushered in to a smelly and untidy apartment. It was not cleaned and tidied up before they let us in.

Not too far from center.
No WiFi, no dish towels, stove dirty, bathroom sink drain broken, poorly labeled keys-4 to enter apartment.

I nearly cancelled this accommodation so many times due to the bad reviews, but glad I didn’t. It’s in a great location & offers parking (rare in old town). The bedrooms were huge & the kitchen was much more functional than described by others - the hot plates do work & it has a kettle, toaster & coffee machine. The shower pressure was good & staff were friendly and accommodating (allowed us to check in early & provided ice for our G&Ts when asked). There were no rats to be seen 😂
It’s initially hard to find (Apple maps tries to send you the wrong way down one-way streets). The bed was squeaky & the fridge is tiny. But there is a grocery shop 30m away so you can just restock regularly. We didn’t find the cleanliness that bad - it’s an old apartment so there are dirty areas, but the useable surfaces were all clean.

Great location right in the heart of the city
Very bad state of repair. Unusable poorly equipped kitchen. Refrigerator was warm. No tea towels, minimal cutlery dirty and unusable saucepans. No microwave or oven. 2 ring hob very dirty. Terrace unusable, dirty with discarded cigarettes and infested with rats - disgusting.

The location was very good, easy to walk to many places. Good price. The hotel staff across the road were very friendly and helpful. We had a few hours before our flight so we were able to leave our luggage with them while we wandered the streets.
It was a nice property but you pay for what you get. The apartment was a bit on the older side. One toilet/shower for 5. There was no working exhaust fan in toilet so it was a bit damp and looked like some mould was growing. Also if you drive the back door pathway is in a bush that has quite a few rats.

The apartment was not as advertised at all. There are not 4 beds. It was absolutely filthy, not cleaned and smelled of sewage.

Location was amazing
Shower was great
A few of the beds were a little basic and not massively comfortable but didn’t ruin the trip

Location is great, and you can park car next to apartment. The apartment size is very big. The check inn is nice with the help from neighbour hotel reception desk.
The kitchen utensils were too sparse, not enough for serious cooking and electric spiral cookers are too slow. Some of the kitchen utensil were not cleaned and were suitable for throwing away due to age. We had small problem with removing the apartment key from door lock, because it goes out only at 90 degrees.

The location was excellent check in was easy and the staff were pleasant
This unit needs updating it is very tired and lacks the little things like toaster and jug,the photos on the site are not what you get I think they may have been taken quite a while ago,the unit suffers bad from mould in the bathroom the outdoor area doesn't look like it's been mowed for a year, lack of plates cutlery and even chairs supposed to sleep 6 but only four chairs, electrical cords in bedroom are a fire hazard it is disappointing this unit could be so much more with a little money and care given.

Single bed in one of the bedroom was very uncomfortable to sleep on.

the location
the kitchen was very gross, I wouldn’t cook in it. The main bathroom was very dingy, and had mold on the ceiling above the shower. There was con webs all over, as well as dust. The twin bed in the photos was not a twin bed but a very uncomfortable futon, that my son couldn’t sleep on.The garden was nice to have but unkempt. Only one of two shower heads was usable.

We stayed 6 of us in the apartment. My bed was rally bad, but the others were ok. The mattress had big bumps on it and I couldn’t sleep. The other 5 said that theirs were ok. Other than that the place was good.
Parking was in the parking garage. We had to walk with our luggage in the rain. We got a code to the lock box to get into the hotel, however our apartment was in a separate building across the street. We had to wait for a while before we figured out what we needed to do. We also had to pay 16 euro for parking what we were not told ahead of time.

the apartment we stayed at was outdated

Location was amazing! We could walk to everything! Bedrooms are very large.
The property doesn't have a common area for a family except the kitchen with only four chairs even though we rented it for six people. There is also a small entrance area with just a large desk in it. There are two large bedrooms, a small kitchen, and two small bathrooms (one of which was in a shared area with another apartment but was marked as belonging to Apartment Kurt). It is poorly equipped. The kitchen had two small burners which were in bad shape. Many simple things like light bulbs didn't work. It needs repairs, updating, and the addition of the essentials that you normally find in a rental.

the location was great and the staff who work at the hotel were very helpful and courteous.
the maintenance needs to be done. the furniture was falling apart. there was no usable appliances or fittings in the kitchen and the lights didn’t work - needed new bulbs and the shower head was broken.

It has a very good location, very nice garden. It is quiet (apart from trash collecting early in the morning outside).
I think the relation between price and convenience isnt good. The kitchen is small, not very practical. The kitchen equipment was rather poor. Not super clean bathroom.

Fantastic location and spacious apartment! Very comfortable and was a good launch point for exploring Salzburg. There is a little courtyard off the back and you can look right up at Salzburg Fortress! The apartment was a bit dated, but unpretentious and welcoming...
And it has an impressive VHS tape collection ;)
The parking access what a bit confusing (on weekends a code is needed to get access to the street near), and the instructions directed us to a key box, but the enclosed key didnt work. My daughters joked it felt a bit like we were playing an ESCAPE room game! Things became very simple when we found out that the hotel across the street managed the apartment! The reception desk was very helpful, and things went smoothly after that.
The apartment was comfortable, but could use a little attention to details such as burnt out light bulbs.
(And be prepared for LONG bell ringing from the Fortess above and other churches beginning in the early morning hours...this is a Salzburg thing, not specifically this location!)

The only good thing about this property was location.
Property was not clean, everything worn out. Kitchen is terrible. No sufficient lighting.

Central location in the historical area, large clean rooms, excellent wifi, comfortable beds, good water pressure in the showers...amazing collection of 80s vhs cassettes, and the small garden, until we saw the rats, although they did look healthy and well fed...;)
Large rats in the garden, holes in the bedsheets (moths
?) peeled paints in the shower, lack of kitchen supplies like a water kettle or a small pot to boil water to make tea, only one set of keys.
