Hôtel La Maison du Prussien

Good breakfast buffet. Wonderful terrace restaurant by river, with lots of trees and greenery. Delicious, quality food beautifully presented with professional and unhurried service. Very good Sunday brunch sélection. Exceptional, smiling staff. Good quality mattress, bedding and towels, plus proper napkins, even at breakfast.

As a very old building, there is no lift. Walking up and down stairs a bit of a challenge if mobility problems. Had not realised hotel is very close to main train line, so frequent trains going by.

It is unique and memorable: There is nowhere else in the world like this beautiful place. Its style: the sympathetic way the old building had been restored and remodelled. Exploring the grove : I wish I’d had had longer. The quirky sculptures inside (see my favourite inside one in photo) and out and the tasteful and relevant old photographs on the walls. The beautiful simplicity, comfort and cleanliness of the room (two photos). Falling asleep (and waking) to the sound of the water beneath our bedroom window (see photo) The kind, polite, and helpful staff The deliciously unhurried breakfast.

It was not easy to get to, but worth the effort. It can’t help its surroundings - it was originally an industrial building itself.

Beautiful spacious and airy room with large bathroom. Loved the sound of the stream behind the hotel - very soothing. The trail along the stream was an oasis in an otherwise industrial area. Also appreciated the multiple English language TV channels - something often lacking in European hotels.
