The accommodations covered all our needs (and some we didn't have) and the friend I was traveling with thought the upstairs shower was especially wonderful. (It was handy to have an en suite upstairs as well as a bathroom downstairs.) I tended to forget and hit my head on the sloped ceilings upstairs but appreciated the ability to open the windows in them, letting hot air out and cool air in. Being outside with views to the sea and of the sheep in the pens was fun.
What made our stay most memorable, however, was hitting a deep pothole on our way. The road was narrow (one-lane with stone fences on the side in some places) so we did not stop to check the tire immediately. It was good we were fairly close to the cottage. Once we had opened the gate and turned onto the long driveway, we checked and found the tire deflating quickly. I shooed a few sheep ahead of the rental car so it could be parked near the end where the driveway wouldn't be blocked and the car could receive attention. And that was when we discovered what a gift our hosts were. Simon checked the tire the next morning to see what our options were and made arrangements with a garage in Portree to come out and replace the tire. I am extremely grateful for his help (and could say more in thankfulness but don't want to set him up for extra work from future guests!). The man from the garage was also capable, kind, and efficient, and told us he spends almost all his time on the road--helping mostly tourists, I believe. (We did get to see someone deftly handling a complicated set of potholes later and were pretty sure he was a very experiencd local.)
I was surprised that it was quite so hard and expensive to book a place on Skye, since we were going mid-May (although one of our nights was on a Friday), so book as early as possible.

Beds a little too firm

Lovely location, very remote & quiet. Cosy, warm cottage. Comfy beds, great bathrooms.
Front door handle was difficult to operate, could do with a bigger sofa.

Location. Quiet, authentic remote Scottish cottage.
Uncomfortable sofa and small double bed. We had to give the master bedroom to our goddaughter and use the singles ourselves.

We loved everything..the facilities were amazing, the owner was very responsive and who doesn't love waking up being surrounded by sheep.
Our stay was too short :(

Wish we could have stayed for longer! Incredible location out in the countryside. Great facilities in the kitchen for cooking and washing clothes. Sonya and her husband Simon were so lovely and helped us out with some niche requests. Make sure you check out Simon’s photography!
Loved it all

May be a better knife for cutting raw meat.

La Maison de Campagne was lovely for a few days in the North of Skye. It has all the facilities we needed, including heating in all rooms which was a nice treat. Customer service was excellent and instructions were very clear.
The drive in was a bit precarious, particularly in the wet. Worth having a car with a bit more ground clearance but we managed with a 2-wheel drive car well enough.

Nothing.
Poor access road, car got stuck driving to property and when leaving, poorly maintained. Place was freezing cold and heaters on timers to save the client money, (told to use blankets and hot water bottles provide) (that says all you need to know on that) timers were either faulty or set up to keep going of after short period of time. Told to leave in middle of the night in a major storm in the dark when in isolated location with 80mph winds when we complaimed. Told we would get a refund but then did not give refund. Their was no were comfortable to sit as a family, just one two seater sofa next to oven in kitchen with flickering ceiling light, we had to spend our time in bed, bathroom downstairs near front door extra cold and totally not fit for purpose not adequate and not as portrayed in photos in description. We had to check out less than a full day into the stay and find alternative accommodation which we did.

A beautiful cottage located in the quieter, rural north away from the throngs of tourists. That said, it is still well located to get to the tourist spots.
Cottage was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our 3 nights there.
Nothing.

The surrounding area was BEAUTIFUL! The apartment was nice, and having 2 bathrooms was a plus since we are 2 couples traveling together. The windows in the upstairs bedrooms provided wonderful views!
It would have been a little bit better if there had been a living room/family room area, rather than just one couch in the kitchen.

We liked the peace and quiet and the open space, we enjoyed our location and had plenty of places to visit.
Nothing to not like everything was fine.

Lovely clean house, comfortable beds, really nice bathrooms. The heating worked well and was effective.
The house was really a long way from everything we wanted to do.

Great peaceful location: ideal for people who want to rest and relax but at the same time it is close to key Skye attractions in the north of the island. The house is very well equipped, ideal for a family or a group of friends. The heating works well. Kitchen suitable for cooking. Quick and friendly contact with the owner. Great views, ships everywhere.
Smell in the bathrooms (mold?) but I guess it is a common problem in such old houses.

The view was lovely, the cottage was cosy and comfortable.
The farm track leading to property was unsuitable for my car and we had to park 300 metres away. Also the sceptic tank produced a strong smell in the downstairs bathroom.

Everything, was perfect.
Would stay again.
Perfect location and great information leaflet.
Wasn't separate and was connected to a lived in house so wasn't quiet or remote as we thought.
Beds were small and driveway was rough but nothing that would put me off staying again just worth knowing for your first time.

The location was amazing, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and sheep! The ground floor is a bit a old compare to the first floor, the decoration is not the same but it is cosy! Fact I do not know is the landlords are actually living in the same house! it was not a problem for us but I guess it is good to know !
The heaters had timers, it means they can run only for 2 hours maximum and if you want to start them again you have to wake up during the night because if you don’t they go completely cold. The results was very cold nights, temperature were close to zero outside but you can’t have heater running during the night… I get the energy saving but this would be better to explain before booking because this is an important point and to be honest if we knew this we would have choose another place. That’s a shame because the place is nice but not nice enough to be freezing all night !

Lovely little cottage in a quiet location. Clean property with all you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of extra blankets in the bedrooms and on the sofa to keep people cosy when the wind might hit.
The heating warms up nicely. The main bathroom shower is a dream with the rainfall shower head. The kitchen is well equipped with the tools you need to make basic meals. Love the added addition of tea and coffee-making facilities so you won't be stuck on your first day.
Lovely location in Skye and so close to numerous tourist points. The owner was attentive and great with communication
Ideally, the property could benefit from the ability for 4 comfy chairs in the main lounge area but understand the space is limited.

The house is big, clean and nicely decorated, it had most of what we needed, including all the amenities in the kitchen and a washing machine.
The house was freezing (we were there in mid-October) and the only way to heat it up were small electric heaters that work for max. 2 hours at a time so at night or after coming in, it takes time to heat it up. It's a self check-in which was fine and even appreciated as we weren't sure what time we're arriving exactly but there are detailed written instructions for leaving the house - taking off sheets from the bed, putting towels in plastic bags, recycling the trash etc. which made us feel a bit weird. Overall, not a very comfortable experience but the location is very deserted if that's what you're after.

A really nice accomodation in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by beautiful nature. Perfect place to explore the northern part of the Isle of Skye and to simply relax within nature.

Great contact from the initial booking. Accurate instructions on where to find the property. Views exceptional accompanied by the easy connection to the whole of the island attractions. Would definetely return and bring grandchildren as was a great place to stay.
We have nothing negative to say host was available if needed and we loved our short stay.

Cosy comfortable house that’s close to a lot of the stuff we wanted to see on Skye. Easy to get the keys, great internet, nice beds and just a generally nice place to relax after a day exploring.
