Wonderful accommodations in a lovely and central location

Perfect situation for two couples traveling together! The accommodations were lovely and in a beautiful setting. So many pretty and clever design and decorating aspects at the Sabhal and the layout was comfortable and well thought out. We enjoyed sharing meals together and found all that we needed for simple preparations. It was a pleasure to find fresh eggs, bread, butter and jam, coffee, tea, cocoa and cookies (biscuits). I also found the milk frother to be a wonderful invention, a perfect touch for morning coffee and cocoa. I now own one here at home :^) We found the location to be as hoped; central, peaceful, quiet with sheep in the fields and birds in the sky.

We enjoy meeting the host families we stay with and found Rachael to be engaging and welcoming. We regret that our mutually busy schedules did not allow more time to touch base. I still don't know the backstory behind the charming button wainscotting. I am sure there is one!

Cozy farm location

Quiet

Sign on the highway could be bolder. A mat at the entrance and just inside would be helpful to ensure that the guest keeps this lodging pristine. A microwave for self catering cooking would be helpful and paper towels to aid clean up. A little table outside with the chairs would be a nice addition. All in all it was clean, sweet, comfy and quiet with a lovely host.

Can't recommend this place enough.

The property is beautifully presented and very comfortable. There were lots of provisions for us, such as cereal, jam, butter etc, which was lovely. Rachael was so welcoming and helped us feel at home. Having the outside area to sit in was great, and the three lambs over the fence were an added bonus!

We usually like to stay within walking distance of eating areas and/or a pub, so we were a little out of our comfort zone here, as the car was necessary for everywhere. But we knew that before we booked and adapted our habits accordingly. The accommodation in Portree was too expensive for us, and this place was within our budget and so amazing, that it was worth making changes to our plans.

Well set out and suited my purposes admirably. A lot of thought had clearly gone into what was provided and the background information was nicely pitched. Loved the pet lambs and the visiting hoodie craws.

Perfect location, beautiful grounds, quiet,comfortable and cozy!

The Sabhal was easy to access, well marked upon arrival and a designated parking spot outside. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We loved seeing the sheep and lambs outside on the beautiful landscape! We had our own private entrance into the room and we were welcomed with plenty of coffee, which we drank most of😊, and tea, bread, milk, jam, eggs, milk and I’m sure I forgot somethings because what we had was a perfect start to our day with what was left in our room. The room was very quiet and decorated with simple detail in mind. We had a perfect sitting area outside which we didn’t use because we were out during the day enjoying the Isle of Skye and the amazing weather we had during our stay. We were sorry that we didn’t get to chat with the owners due to missing them coming in and out and my phone not accessing my emails, which was no fault of the wonderful wifi access we had there. I would recommend The Shabal to anyone staying in Skye, it was the perfect location and a perfect choice for our stay!

Fantastic, such a great place to stay!

Everything! My daughter (a seasoned traveller) said it couldn’t be faulted. The property was delightful as was Rachel the owner. We had a great time, it was an excellent base for all our excursions, being about 15 mins from Portree but away from the hustle and bustle of a tourist town. We arrived at almost midnight due to an accident on the only road onto the island and Rachel having heard, had turned on the lamps and heating, it was very welcoming as were the milk, bread, eggs, tea and coffee for the next morning. This really is an excellent place to stay, our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Thanks Rachel for making our visit even more special than it was going to be. ❤️

Great place to stay.

Very comfortable room. Clean and tidy, well presented. Rachel was very friendly and welcoming, even contacting us halfway through our stay to see if there was anything else she could do for us. She provided a number of basic items for self-catering (cereal, milk, tea, coffee, bread, etc). Very restful, nice and quiet, and easy sleeping.

There was nothing to complain about as far as the accommodation was concerned. But if you intend eating out in Portree, I'd recommend booking in advance as the local eateries were often fully booked.

Exceptional stay

Everything was exceptional. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great and the room was nicely furnished. It was very quiet at night. The host, Rachael, was very helpful in providing information on what to see on the Island. Rachael kindly sent some items we left behind back to Australia for us. It was close to a local hotel that served nice meals. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful location away from the crowds.

Rachael, our host, was friendly and very helpful. She provided us with an email about how to access the room and had provided some groceries to help us settle in. We loved the location and the freedom to walk out on the property to get excellent views of the water and surrounding mountains. We arrived during lambing season and had a great time watching the lambs with their mothers. The room was very comfortable and clean. An exceptional location to get away from the crowds.

Exceptional

Rachael was a fantastic host! We arrived to fresh milk, bread, eggs and plenty of tea and coffee. The room was bigger than expected and to a very high standard. Absolutely beautiful location, with panoramic views. We had a lovely walk down the croft where there were lambs playing. The location is quite remote, but the facilities in the room made it very easy to cook in the evenings after spending the day exploring. Highly recommend The Sabal for couples wanting to relax.

Is this the best accommodation on the aisle of Skye?

As a frequent traveler to locations such as the Isle of Skye for my landscape photography this is probably the best place I’ve stayed. Everything about this place is perfect, the room is very spacious, modern, clean and well equipped for everything you need for your stay on Sky. The property is very central to all main ‘photography’ locations, whilst only being a short 20-30 mins drive from both The Old Man of Storrr and also The Quiraing.

There was nothing I didn’t like about the property. My only suggestion that would improve the room would be to add a microwave in the room, as this would have been more convenient to cook ready meals as there isn’t many ‘food cooking appliances’ other than a portable hob and a toaster…but I managed. One other point to note is that if you have a couple next door who like to frequently make love to each other throughout the day, you will have to put the TV loud to drown it out. Thankfully this only lasted a couple minutes before you could here the bathroom door close and the shower switch on.

Beautifully decorated room. Very clean. Quality bedding, very comfortable bed. The extras left in the room (milk,eggs,bread,butter,smoked salmon,tea,coffee and more) were unexpected but a fabulous extra. Rachael, the host was informative and friendly.

Lovely accommodation in rural setting

Absolutely fabulous property in a rural setting just outside Portree. We were met on arrival by the host and her 2 lovely dogs. Everything about the room is just great. Very spacious and nicely decorated inside. Lots of extras like tea, coffee, bread, eggs etc were supplied which was nice. We really enjoyed our 2 nights here and were very comfortable.

Warm and comfortable room in a great location.

Very welcoming and friendly host. The room was large, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The room had a lovely view and overlooked beautiful scenery. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept really well. The provisions provided such as bread, milk, butter and loads of good quality tea and coffee were a real bonus.

Just a very minor thing but a microwave in the room would have been useful.
