40 Bernisdale - The Sabhal

Absolutely gorgeous retreat. Beautiful decor and lots of comforting home touches. Having milk and bread etc on arrival is an especially lovely touch and helpful as the shops are around 10 miles away.

Only 2 things to mention the TV doesn’t seem to have normal terrestrial channels but it does have access to iplayer etc The first night the neighbours were very noisy which had they have stayed longer would have ruined our stay but luckily they left after one night.

Fully self-contained apartment in a standalone building with 2 apartments (make sure you note which one you have booked as the style of each one is quite different). Located on a farm type premises with the owners in the main house and sheep in the shed. Two friendly dogs but didn't see much of them. Did enjoy feeding the lamb in the shed! Located about 20 minutes from Portree so good for the top part of Skye (heading south takes a while so if you want to visit the whole island you might want to book into two locations). Weather on Skye is infamous: we had 3 days blue sky to 2 days rain which is pretty good. The accommodation is very comfortable for catching up on your reading. Plenty of parking - you will need a car to stay here. The adjacent area of Skye includes Waternish which we enjoyed. Easy to find on the road between Portree and Dunvegan.

Self-catering facilities were not quite good enough to fully self-cater (two ring stove, toaster and kettle) and a microwave and/or air fryer would have helped. Eating out on Skye is a pain - places either close at 5 or cost ridiculous amounts of money - so we self-catered as much as we could.

Rachael is the best host ever. She is friendly and helpful and has wonderful stories. The property is beautiful and we fell in love with their pet lamb Angie. The room was beautifully decorated and toiletries were environmentally stocked. We were easily able to cook a simple dinner when we couldn't get a reservation to eat out. The location is perfectly located and allowed us easy access to all parts of the island.

Everything! Host was sweet and prompt. The house was lovely, comfortable, and cosy. There was milk, coffee, tea, butter, jam, salt/pepper, kitchenware etc provided for, as well as toiletries. Private parking lot! Love the view from the balcony door. Wish I could stay longer in Sabhal.
