Location in a remote valley is gorgeous and the sound of the steam running by as you go to sleep is sublime.
The pub closed its dining service before the time stated in the information pack in our rooms and didn’t advise us in advance. They were quite rude about it when we came down to eat. We had no option but to get in our car and go further afield for dinner. Such a bad ending to what was a nice stay …and this was the second time we have stayed there!

Fantastic location, the room was spacious and the bed was comfy. The staff are very friendly. It was great to be able to check in early and go for a nice walk before enjoying a delicious meal and have a beer or two. The breakfast was also very good. We will definitely return next year!
It was all good

James and Becky were amazing! So hospitable, kind, friendly, accommodating. Our rental car broke down on the hill in front of the Inn on the morning we were suppose to leave. We ended up staying an extra night, waiting 24 hours for the breakdown company. It could have been a very negative experience, but all was well because of where it happened and how helpful James and Becky were. Their breakfast is lovely, rooms are clean and comfortable, restaurant well priced. All in all a lovely stay. Thank you both. We appreciate your hard work and hospitable hearts.
The only thing that can be a challenge when you come with a little car, is the beautiful hills.

The Breakfast was included in the price, the breakfast was nicely presented and was very nice, the evening meal was optional which we took advantage of mainly because the location was scenic but somewhat isolated in a lovely spot. Evening meals were fairly priced and was cooked very well with plenty, so starters or desert was not required.
Whilst the staff were pleasant, the level of customer service was less than I expected, I have worked in customer services for majority of my working life, therefore let me explain this. When I Booked I added the following on my booking info, Additional Information/Special Requests :
** Genius Booker ** July Birthday Treat; Room with nice view please. Is a check in possible after 15.00 hours if required? as moving up from Cornwall. on our way Home.
As we had not had a reply by our arrival check in date we called the property whilst on the road between 2.00pm - 2.30pm and had to leave a message saying we estimated our arrival between 4.00pm to 5.00m requesting a call back. Sadly this call back was never received, we arrived as advised at about 4.40pmish, at this point we found the property all locked up with a closed sign on the door advising a opening time of 6.00pm. Closing between 3pm and 6pm I can understand, however we called before closing time, and could have changed our route if only they would have called back. (In my opinion a clear lack of customer care or needs). When we finally got in shortly after 6.00pm were shown to our room "A standard double room" without the view we requested (See Photo) the general décor was tired and needed renovation but was clean and tidy. we were naturally a little deflated. I returned to the car to get an additional bag, taking the keys with me. I got back to the room and started getting ready to go for dinner, at which point was unable to find the room key, spent another half an hour hunting the room and moving stuff around along with emptying out all of our bags in case it had got mixed up with the mayhem of getting in the room later than we planned. We then resigned ourself that we needed to go down to the bar to advise we had mislaid our key, my wife went to the bar, she was advised it had been picked up off the stairs by another guest, my fault, "Why did someone not pop to the door with the key.

Banter with the locals in the bar into the early hours Fri/Sat night!
Bed pillows were too small/thin, woke up with a cricked neck each morning.

An atmospheric little inn in the middle of Exmoor National Park. It was quiet and clean snd the staff were friendly. The proximity to the Valley of Rocks was a definite bonus.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. The location was amazing and scenic. The room was spacious, spotless, and had excellent Wi-Fi, even across the road out on the terrace. The bed and mattress were very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Both breakfast and dinner were generous and absolutely delicious—definitely worth mentioning.

The Inn was located in the most wonderful place, hidden out the way with no phone signal, the river opposite was stunning. The food was amazing, best roast I've had in a long time, lots of attractions were close by, and the staff could not have been lovelier!
I can't really think of anything, the only thing that would of been helpful was having the WiFi code written in the welcome pack in the room.

Cracking place to stay. Hosts were lovely, the location is just gorgeous, and food & drink were great. Breakfast is such a bonus and so tasty. Would highly recommend walking from Rockford > Watersmeet > Lynmouth > Countisbury > Rockford, using the path just across from the inn and the wooden signs to keep you right! Hopefully will be back in the not-too-distant future!
