We loved the cosy fires, lovely food and the remoteness of this pub! It was so easy to walk straight onto Exmoor. The staff were lovely too.
Unfortunately the boiler was broken while we were there so it was quite chilly in the rooms. However, the owners did offer us a free drink each on the house.

Food, especially evening meal was delicious.

The location was excellent for touring. Having your own vehicle is essential.
7.0 / 10.0
Room was comfortable and warm. The bar area was welcoming with a wood burner that was always on.
The food in general was a bit disappointing, breakfast and the evening meal needs to be sourced more local with local honey, jams, sausages. It did not reflect the area.

The location for us was excellent as we like being out of town and there are walks straight from the inn.
The breakfast was comprehensive with lots of choice to suit all British tastes. All the staff were friendly and attentive.
I can’t think of anything negative.

This hotel has everything you need. Delicious food, a comfortable bed, a hot shower/bath, a great selection of hot drinks and biscuits in the bedroom, huge soft towels and friendly, attentive staff. There was nothing missing. We had a great stay.
There was nothing not to like.

Everything really, it was clean and warm, the food was great the atmosphere was great, we enjoying talking to other guests and the friendly helpful staff, pet friendly with blankets and beds so they can be cosy by the fire too, although the bed was a little soft to me, I think most people would say its really comfortable, the rain shower was so relaxing I didn't want to get out, and we had a Nespresso machine with our tea and coffee, and lastly a really thoughtful gesture a bouquet of flowers and bubbly for our Anniversary.
Ok this is a really small detail but with just a small change would have really made a difference, the TV, so in the pricing levels the next pay bracket said "Flat Screen TV" so to me that means a good digital TV that supports on demand services so we can log into Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime etc, and knowing how cheap good digital TV is I was surprised to see a small TCL TV which wouldn't let us watch any on demand TV was very slow through the remote and I couldn't even get my HDMI cable attached to my MacBook Pro to work.

I love this place, it is warm and inviting and the fact it sits on the moor exposed to all weathers adds to its character. The meals all homely , friendly staff, open fires and a great breakfast to start the day …
What’s not to love , savoured every second. Will definitely book up again next year

My room had a lovely touch to it, it felt homely and cosy! Beautifully decorated with all the details! It was nice to have the freedom of a full body shower. The breakfast in the morning was very filling with the continental buffet being small but enough for what people should need in the morning! Exmoor sausages and the eggs were super lovely and very tasty! The staff were very much attentive to my requests really made the stay worth while! Was a great location to get in to Lynton and Lynmouth to allow us to explore the surrounding walks such as to the valley of rocks and we went to watersmeet on the second day to explore as National Trust walks.

Beautiful old coaching inn surrounding by Exmoor just a stones throw from the coastal path, with an easy route into Lynmouth/Lynton. Fantastic food, with veggie options. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Very dog friendly with a nice little doggy welcome pack in room. The room was spacious and comfortable and even had a bath in the ensuite which was heaven after a long trek.
It probably depends on the room, but we were in No. 10 which was above the kitchen and dining area. The noise was unbearable, not just in the evening but from 7am when the kitchen started up for breakfasts and a radio was switched on and woke us up. If the rest of our stay hadn't been so lovely, we would have left because of it. We've stayed in many old, listed inns but have never been subjected to so much noise from the bar and kitchen. It's an old building but sound-proofing should be considered if they continue to rent out the rooms affected. Another gripe we had was the £15 per night for our dog. For a business that prides itself on being so dog-friendly they should include it in the original price or not charge extra at all.

Loved the location and style of the rooms, especially the wet room style shower. The food was great and accommodated my wife’s coeliac requirements with no trouble at all. Thats a big thing for us! Service was great in the evening.
We stayed with our dog and the location gave us access to the coastal path in minutes. Great stay but even better of the attention to detail was consistent…
I had to go down stairs and ask for coffee and milk in the morning as none available in the room shame as they was a coffee machine in the room. The staff member I met blamed housekeeping and seemed annoyed with me for asking.
We were a long way from the exit with a dog up and down several sets of stairs might have been easier to be closer to door. £15 charge for a pet seems extreme I’ve since noted that there was supposed to be a goody bag included we didn’t receive this.
Breakfast staff not as attentive, had to ask for butter and ketchup not available on buffet. Pot of tea, coffee refills would be better than the single cups provided.

Food was good, choice was good, staff were both friendly and helpful.
Dogs in restaurant areas are not my idea of fun. The blue Ball has lots of room/bar and snug areas, so could have a dog and owners food room dont need canines under ones feet when eating

Very delicious food, very comfortable beds, good tea making facilities in the hotel room, the younger staff were particularly courteous and helpful. Excellent location.
No loose sugar bowls or sachets available at breakfast or other meals. Some food choices were off menu due to non deliveries.

Breakfast was very nice, lots of choice and very filling. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing. Staff were very welcoming and polite, we enjoyed the live music in the evenings.
Didn’t really like the bathroom being a wet room

This is approximately our 10th visit to the Blue Ball Inn, but the 1st time since the new owners have taken over. Our room was spotlessly clean, and everything we could possibly need was provided. Nothing was too much trouble. The live music on Fridays is a lovely touch, and the food was beautiful on both nights. The staff were great and very helpful.
The bedroom was lovely, but the bed was very hard and not very comfortable. The lighting in the room was very dim, and it was very difficult to see.

Location excellent
On the first two mornings the room was not made up,we had to request twice that it was,and had to wait in the bar late one afternoon while it was made up. It would have been nice to have had Marmalade available for breakfast than just honey or jams.Although not the fault of the Inn when I booked the room on line with Booking. com it was advertised as with a walk in shower not a shower over the bath we were offered this on the second day but declined as all our belongings were already unpacked so we requested a bath mat to avoid slipping, this was provided.

Everything about this stay was perfect, firstly the team that run the inn were great, bar, breakfast, dinner what a great team making sure everyone had everything they wanted..
Food great, drink selection great, room superb!
Fantastic location, parking this place had ir all, WILL be back for sure, had a great weekend away. Booked late and super helpful getting us booked in as we arrived late. So friendly and nothing was a problem at all., and all with a smile and sincerity I've not enjoyed for years. Thank you!
There are no negatives at all, it was a superb break

Beautiful building with lots of fantastic nooks and crannies, spectacular views. The lady at check in was friendly and helpful. Our room was small, but clean with a great shower. Evening meal was good.
We had a great time exploring Lynmouth and Watersmeet, locals were friendly.
One very stern member of staff huffed and puffed when we asked for a table at dinner (at 7.30pm), then told us to "find a table somewhere - but not in the restaurant - and hurry up and order". We felt so unwelcome that we would have gone elsewhere if we could.
The TV in our room wasn't working properly, but we didn't feel we could raise the issue following the reception we received at dinner.
Breakfast service was very slow despite us being only one of two occupied tables. Breakfast itself was tough/dry/reheated.
We've passed the Blue Ball many times and have always said we'd love to stay, but we wouldn't stay again. What a shame, because the rest of the weekend was great.
