The hotel is perfectly situated a short walk from the centre of Harrogate. The building is charming, keeping its character. The staff were without exception helpful and friendly. It felt like stepping into the Downton era
The internet was intermittent and the shower temperamental although the welcome sheet did explain that.

Efficient booking in. One free parking spot.
My room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Everything worked. Breakfast was tasty and there was plenty of choice, both hot and cold options. I requested cream with my coffee … no problem.

Breakfast was fine.
At 2am on our last night the fire alarm went off and the place had to evacuate. Strange for this to be in the 'What did you like?' box, but the night staff were excellent in their cover of the fire procedures, helping those that needed a hand, getting a chair to the assembly point for one elderly person and quick to get us back in once the FRS had checked the place over. Well done to all those that work the dark hours!
We booked a superior room for the 4 nights but the allocated room was cramped and the toilet seat was worn, the surface peeling off and just really unhygienic, we could not stay in that room and use that toilet.
We returned to reception where the very helpful receptionist offered us an alternative room which we found to be more of a superior standard and size.
The lift was not working for most of our stay but we are walkers and we were fine bouncing up and down from the third floor, but the majority of those staying were older and less mobile.
This is a grand hotel, but a little tired now. But yes we would stay again based upon how we were treated by your great staff.
